Just had lunch at Benally’s and ordered a Navajo burger with a “ice cold coke”. The frybread was great but the burger was awful. It’s so bad I didn’t finish it or give it to the rez dogs. Paying $17 for a burger with very low quality meat and a warm coke, you might as well go to McDonald’s.

Grilled Food Cafe serves this incredible mutton stew. I got the one with squash. It's something that could have been eaten on that spot a thousand years ago. Deeply nourishing.

I came across this place by chance and bought lovely homemade banana bread and tea against my cold from merchants in the parking lot. Being a tourist I really enjoyed the opportunity to talk to and to support the locals. (I didn’t see any drunk people neither was I bothered by anyone as another person remarked)
