This is one of my very favorite pet stores. Staff are helpful, lots of pets and supplies to choose from. Last time I was here, I was recovering from a blown voice, but the staff were understanding and I happily donated some isopods which I have bred. I always have a lot of fun looking at the animals, which is therapeutic for me, and someday I hope to buy a pet from here! I want to first make sure that I have the housing and supplies ready first. At this store is where I handled a tarantula for the first time, and the staff were really helpful and supportive, and I will always be coming back to pick up the supplies I need and check out all of my favorite animals. Five stars plus.

A touch grungy and not as polished as I believe they could be but has adequate supplies and actual useful equipment than most pet stores. A bit difficult to maneuver around in my power wheelchair. Staff seemed overwhelmed and disappointed I wasn't buying a high dollar fish.I did find out that they take unwanted fish. I'm not sure about birds and other animals like rat, snakes, chinchillas, parrots. However, I will inquire next time.As far as prices, I would say $2 higher than the big box stores on community fish. They were informative to let me know they have been in business at least 30 years. Also while browsing I found used corner of miscellaneous items. I would have to say they could have used a quick cleanup. One of the cages was full of pet hair. Almost like the animal had died in it. Kind of creepy!If you bring small children there, please make sure they pay attention the birds do bite. I did not have a small child but was observing people that did. The parents did not even pay attention to the child who ran out in front of me power wheelchair helloooo.. Be aware of Small tight areas.Yes I was on very low.repectable.speed Wild and excitement took hold I suppose. Enough of my ranting. Rick offered a monthly discount club at checkout..Ill find out.more.Have a fishy day.

I love this old school pet store! The familiarity is comforting and real rather than corporate. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, but they don't follow you and annoy. I was able to get hard to find items and medicine for my critters. They have a great selection of items, cages, and animals.

I was really happy with the service but unfortunately the bunny we got from them died less than 2 months later. :( we have had bunnies before and have successfully taken care of them so we are knowledgeable. So it leads me to believe that she may have already been sick. My kids are devastated as am I.

Be prepared to be scolded like a little child every 5 minutes for doing something wrong. I know when I say something wrong I literally mean almost anything at this point, I'm not even exaggerating. Used to love going here but after be berated by unprofessional and emotionally unstable staff members, enough is enough. I will no longer go there as it's a place that now feels uncomfortable for me. I understand there's policies but how hard is it to be nice. So many other better priced pet stores than ones that make you feel like you're "time out" . WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!

Went here to buy some fish for my son's tank and they had a very big selection. Prices seemed a lil high but i haven't had a tank in forever so maybe fish just went up. They also had a good selection of other animals such as snakes rabbits and lizards.

I do like coming here for my pet rats. The only problem, is that multiple times I have gotten rats with a respiratory infection. The video I posted shows my new baby sneezing a lot, needing antibiotics. The good thing about tropical kingdom, is that you can bring them back within a week or so I believe, and they will treat your rat with medication. I personally am not going to take my rat back to get treated this time, as I will treat them at home. Ironically, I bought two feeders as pets last time, and they didn't have respiratory infections at all.All the rats that I have gotten from them are well mannered, and friendly. These newest two are very hyper and instantly warmed up to me. I like the tropical Kingdom has a variety of things that you can buy for your animal, and some animals to look at while you are there. The birds in the open enclosure always make me smile.

Visited for the first time today, was such a fun experience! I didn’t have any encounters with the staff but I loved the variety of animals and pet supplies. Loved the ability to interact with the animals and learn some new things while visiting.

Edited: (10/30/23) I bought the sweetest cockatiel two weeks ago and I couldn't have asked for a nicer bird. It's (not sure about gender yet) healthy, extremely tame, and already saying a few simple phrases - which was surprising because it's so young. I bought a beautiful flight cage and all the supplies except pellets and food dishes when I purchased my birb. The staff were awesome and dismantled the cage for me so it would fit my tiny car. They also helped me pick out the stuff "nibblet" would need.Very nice shop with a good selection of exotic critters and supplies. All the animals are obviously well cared for and healthy. I was looking for a starter snake for my snake obsessed daughter. I'm fairly experienced with reptiles in general, but I haven't actually owned a snake in about 12 years. Since I was a bit rusty on my feeding and temp knowledge, I needed a quick walk through. The young woman working here went through everything with me, and was super patient and helpful. The look on my daughters face when she saw the beautiful setup with a gorgeous baby boa waiting for her was the best part of my week.

Update to my original post. My feelings have now changed after the death of my son's sweet baby. We spent several hours hoping she would survive but unfortunately our sweet girl wasn't strong enough. New to taking care of a leopard tortoise, we followed the advice of Tropical Kingdom for 3 months but according to our vet, we were ill informed on proper care. I'm so hurt and disappointed in knowing that we basically followed the wrong instructions that was given to us which lead to the death and suffering of our sweet girl. R.I.P. and first timers please beware!!!!!This was my first post in March:Thank you for making my son's birthday awesome! The staff was so kind to us and informative. They even got in on the surprise! I would recommend this jewel to all the cool moms trying to put a smile on their child's face.

A good store but before Christmas I had come to get my cousin a pet tarantula, but the lady seemed to not want me to buy it? It’s like she underestimated me, even though I keep Poecilotheria species and stuff. Overall good store just some miscommunication!

I went and got a tortoise from there as a birthday gift. The workers weren't very knowledgeable about them but there was a customer there who had 3 of them and was able to answer my questions. When I asked if they had been seen by a vet or someone to check overall health the employee told me no they don't really do that so that was interesting you would think they would want to make sure the animals they are finding forever homes for are healthy and when looking up these kind of tortoises I saw that they weren't really giving them the right food for their diet so even the one I had bought her shell was raised because of not having a proper diet but no worries we got her on the best greens and spoil her. This place is awesome but I would like to see them care for the animals better.

I bought two pet rats from this place. Within a week I broke out with ringworms caused by them. I gad to take them to the vet. The vet discovered they had respiratory infections caused by how they were housed at the petshop.Do not buy from here. If I could give azero I would. FYI my two babies died. Not to mention hey bit me a lot.she

I have bought 4 of my daughters (female fancy rats) from here and each has been the sweetest, handled well, cared for little thing. It is so fun and such a good atmosphere when I go there, I highly recommend it. They are not uptight and so much fun, and definitely handle the animals with care. Thank you!

I have many animals myselfe,so i know how hard it is ti find supplies.Now I like Trop.its a good pet store but,there more of a bird store if you ask me.Always birds and bird stuff.Fish about halfe the stre and snakes.ewe.There staff is friendly and know their supplies,but somethings off,I just cant put my finger on it.Maybe the price.Their prices are higher then anyones.So get youre wallet out.Otherwise a good store.

The African Greys lie. They ask if you want peanut butter, but they don't have any to give!Awesome selection of pets, both run of the mill and especially exotics. Lots of stuff for your exotic's care as well.

Mike and John are the best. I've known this family business since they were in the Campbell plaza so 30 years . I had to get a pinky mouse for a snake that got dug up in my backyard and brought in by my cats.

The tanks for fish are a little on the pricey side but this place literally has everything! It's amazing. Salt and fresh water fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, bunnies, hamsters; heck I even saw a chicken and hedgehog! Literally everything ... Well except dogs and cats but those aren't exactly tropical. Hey but there's a good amount of items for them. 😅😂

Once we started browsing the snakes, we were approached a handful of times by staff asking if we had any questions or needed help. They were extremely knowledgeable! You can tell how much they care about all the animals there! We got our beautiful boy Severus, and Leigh was amazing! Thank you so much for everything! We are ecstatic to have Severus as a part of our clan!

Amazing variety of things for reptiles and parrots in store! Beautiful snakes, fish, and you are able to interact with the parrots (just talk to an employee first)

Every employee that we encountered today was amazing in their own way and gave my family great customer service! So much time was spent on my questions that I really should have introduced myself to them all. I feel bad for not knowing any of their names. But, I appreciate them for going above and beyond to help us be better beginner aquarists. According to another review, one of the employees names was Neveah, they were especially helpful! The check out clerk we had was also great for giving us tips and tricks on the way out. We live just under an hour away and have easily decided to make this our new pet store.

This is my favorite place to buy tropical fish in Tucson. They offer a better variety and often have unusual fish besides what the other big name pet stores get. The staff and management are pleasant and helpful. They also have a selection of birds, rodents, reptiles and even insects, if that appeals to you. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there is always an unpleasant odor in there.

I always have had good luck with their fish. The people have been professional and willing to help with just about any situation pertaining to pets and questions. All the guests inside the pet store always appear to be happy and fully satisfied with their services as well.
