I love going to shark reef. Honestly I find excuses to go there on a regular basis. The employees are all very knowledgeable about any of your aquarium needs and a lot of their product is better priced than other big box pet stores. Their fish are typically a bit more expensive than the big box stores but I have never had any issues with disease or dying fish from this store and they tend to have much more exotic fish. I love spending my money here to get water for my water changes and getting quality fish that have been well taken care of all whilst supporting a local business. If you have any form of aquarium you should stop in and see what they have

Very cool store. The staff is very helpful and friendly, you kinda feel like you're having a chat with a buddy. I don't mind driving 40 min to get to the store. If you need anything and they don't have it, they'll go out of their way to order it or point you in the right direction.

Best aquarium shop in Tucson. My husband and I were helped by Caleb. He was very nice honest and knowledgeable we will definitely be coming here from now on. Also loved that they have salt and fresh water here since my husband is into salt and I'm into freshwater so this place is the best! Clean shop aquariums looked healthy and clean. If I could give this place more stars I would!🙂

Ben is hands down one of the most awesome people I have ever met! He took time to explain getting the tank ready for our fish. He took the time to actually talk to my 3 year old son and helped him get excited for the fish tank.If you're looking to start a fish tank I highly recommend Shark Reef!

Buyer beware! This business has no concept of customer service. I bought 1 freshwater fish and 2 assassin snails. When I got home and acclimated both to an established tank, I realized that the snails were actually empty shells and less than 24 hours later, the fish was in labored breathing on the bottom of the tank. Upon returning to the business the next day to explain the situation and return the empty shells, I was given the assurance that the snails would be replaced on the next order and two additional snails added for having to make three 45 minute round trips for the purchase. I asked the employee helping me to document the agreement on the receipt and sign his name. The snails were not provided on the next order. I was told that the agreement to provide 2 additional snails would not be honored. All this after being told by Caleb and the employee, who declined to provide his name, that they would take care of me multiple times. I found out the unnamed employee, a short, sandy blond haired young man wearing a tee-shirt, shorts and flip-flops, signed someone else's name to the receipt rather than his own after I asked specifically for his name in case there was a problem. I finally simply asked for a refund and again was denied. I prefer to support local small businesses, but find it increasing difficult not to turn to on-line vendors when customer service such as this is so pathetic. Unfortunately, I'll chalk this up to experience and consider myself lucky that the financial impact was minimal. At retail, the cost to keep my business was $8. I'll be shopping elsewhere going forward!

This place is great. It's always better to support local, and the people who run the operations here go above and beyond to provide the best service. I've been going here for a year or so, and the people there have always been helpful, which is always a great thing to see, especially for me when i was just getting into having a saltwater tank. Part of the reason I love having a tank so much is because the people here have been ever so great about when I was starting out.They always have a wonderful selection of livestock ranging from fish to inverts and corals. All livestock is reasonably priced. If they don't have something that you're looking for in particular, they can probably order it in for you.There is much more I could share about why I love shark reef. But i have covered the main points here.

i didn’t get the name of the man who helped me, but he was so kind, knowledgeable, passionate, and professional! suggested some great plants that i was looking for, along with fish he thought would be a great candidate for my bichir. not just the usual google answer, but from his own personal experience fish keeping. i really appreciated his help! super cool place too! huge variety of saltwater fish, some freshwater. unique selection. everything looked clean, tanks looked great.

Awesome store. They have both fresh and salt water fish, as well as living corals for salt tanks. The gentleman I spoke to had an obvious love for aquariums and seemed very knowledgeable. While I'm not ready to upgrade to a salt tank just yet, this will be my first and only stop when I do. I plan on going back many more times just to check out the inventory of numerous fish they have.

I love shark reef! It’s clean, and the staff are really knowledgeable and super sweet! Mel helped me out looking for a calcium supplement. Fish and coral are clearly very happy & healthy, and you can’t beat the joy of walking in to look at beautiful tanks with Island in the Sun playing. As an aside - the cory gang will appreciate the volume and variety of the cory cats :)

I’ve gone two times and both of the owners I’ve talked to are amazing and nice. Extremely knowledgeable and helped me with all my fish and plant needs. They have a great selection of fish, plants, and shrimp which are all ridiculously low priced compared to the rest of town. They truly are for the customer and I appreciate that.

Loved this place. Very well maintained fish tanks with beautiful healthy fish. Betta care is top notch. No tiny cups. Clean filtered and planted tanks. These guys know what they are doing. Very knowledgeable and great service. I love my new fish and shrimps.

Love my guys @ Shark Reef. Helped me get started on my nano reef journey just over a year ago. Yes, shopping here will cost you more than it would at Petco but it’s worth it in building a relationship with a GREAT fish store when you’re in fish keeping for the long haul! Have everything you need and pricing is competitive. Enjoy my weekly trips to grab RODI & Salt water (and maybe a coral or two) and some good conversation.

Quality fish and absolutely amazing staff! Tanks are well kept and fish appear healthy. They have salt and freshwater fish, but if they don’t have what you’re looking for they’ll order it for you. Very knowledgeable about their fish and what kinds of set ups you can do with each kind. I brought my special needs daughter in with me the other day (she loves looking at fish when we go to to pet places, but can’t handle waiting around for long without having a meltdown), and staff were very accommodating and quick to help us get in and out. It’s a little small, but definitely a quality place worth going to!

Just a few of the amazing pieces I have bought from Shark Reef both in person and the auction site both were a great deal and let me tell you these guys are great when it comes to customer service. They remember every piece, problem and even further interest in the hobby I’ve had . They have saved my corals countless times and helped me with tank issues I’ve cause from my own neglect like red slime that almost ruin my corals. ( it also helped they didn’t make me feel horrible about it ) . They help calculate common issues like light settings,water changes amount, filter media. They will not oversell you on any products you don’t need, the results are immediate my take cleared up the next day with zero loss of coral and fish. It’s over an hour drive from where I live but it’s worth I appreciate everything these guys have done for my tank. The price are amazing the corals are beautiful and most importantly they will help you along the way.

Large selection of saltwater corals & saltwater fish. They have a limited selection of freshwater fish but always have the particular species we were looking for. They have several varieties of freshwater shrimp. A great source of Java moss that they procure from local aquarists.

I almost never post a review, however, yesterday I stopped by for the first time and my experience was outstanding. The impression i got was that the place looked clean and stocked with beautiful coral and fish. I walked in to check it out and to see if they had any poly filter pads to control my nitrates, they did not but Rob was happy to show other products that would work. Rob was very friendly and knowledgeable and instead of just selling me a product he wanted to know why my nitrates were high in the first place. I was highly impressed with the time he spent trying to help me even though he looked very busy. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured into buying anything or that I was taking any of his time. I felt comfortable asking him questions and he was happy to answer every single one. Customer service is a must for me above prices or anything else in any place I visit and that's what I got. Thanks Rob and I really appreciate your time and dedication.

Bought a dwarf gourami and neon tetras and it's been about 3-4 months now maybe but they are absolutely doing amazing didn't even have to quarantine them I out them into my main tanks straight away. The place is also super clean and the staff are funny and super helpful! I definitely will be back for more fish!
