Customer service desk “service” is getting worse instead of better. Sat. 3/9/24 with Amber at the desk. She took (I timed it) 25 minutes to help an elderly lady trying to open her Safeway account on her phone. Several people were waiting including me. Amber did not even make eye contact with anyone and kept on chatting with the lady. When I finally approached her and asked if she could help me she made faces, rolled her eyes and snapped at me: “I’m trying to help this customer – not my fault you’re in a hurry.” She ended up getting me the lotto tickets I wanted to purchase and demonstratively yelled to me and my wife on the way out “have wonderful day!” Safeway may want to send Amber to Trader Joe’s to learn what REAL customer service is all about. She clearly does not have clue.

Amber is one of the best managers I've met at any store. She helped me with a western union issue. With that being said thank you Amber.

Incompetency runs rampant here at Safeway.Let's talk Meat department.I've complained 3 times now that the "butchers" there aren't obsvering food handling safety. I've seen one guy cutting meat, sleeves dangling down into the blood, soaking and staining his sleeves, then immediately fetches me bacon out of the walk-in without washing his hands.Joe.As I was complaining to Joe about the butchers being gross at the meat department, Joe is standing there listening to me at self-checkout picking at the scabs on his arms, and they start bleeding . . Civilians are Gross.Produce.They cut the leaves off the beets!! Arguably the most nutritional part of the plant, they cut the leaves off so the beets fit better on the shelves.. how very wasteful. I said something, they don't care, not unless it comes from Corporate.Maybe package the leaves to sell? I bet they just throw them away. I'll check their garbage cans in the back. I've got good kiwis out of there once.Trespassing.Early February 2024, some employee called the police on me and said I was trespassing.. .Well, if I am trespassing, so are all the high school kids who walk through the parking lot EVERYDAY because Swan rd doesn't have sidewalks . . Bunch of nazis.I shop at Safeway everyday. And I regret it each and every time.

Busy store with lots of choices. But it's also cluttered and difficult to check out. Meat, produce and flowers are the best. Some staples are always out of stock. Specials that are marked on the shelves are not always discounted at checkout. The app has gotten better but still a long way to go. Rewards redeemed for credit disappear at checkout. No way to claim them or get them back. Hopefully Kroger will be able to straighten this out

I had a really simple online order and whoever was shopping managed to mess up in multiple ways. Ordering delivery online was supposed to be convenient but it ended up being a big hassle. I won’t bother ordering from Safeway again, because I don’t need to waste more of my time. Online delivery was not convenient or time-saving.

Attempted to order cake and associate was very unhelpful and disappointingly had to walk away and order three cakes elsewhere.

i like the old days when staff were older than 25 & had worked here longer than a couple weeks and they didn't need to lie when they have no idea what the vegetable is I'm asking them to locate. Also please tell your DM that eveyone is sick to death of rearranging the shelves. The last round There were literally 3 separate people having shouting matches with staff because of their over the top frustration being unable to find anything. staff always cheat and close the bathroom before closing

Very pretty display of vegetables, but some are of poor quality. Typically 20-50% of Safeway eggplant is rotten, so you need to buy several more than you need to ensure you have enough. Basha's on Kolb and Sunrise has far better quality eggplant, usually for a lower price. The pictures attached show typical comparison of quality between the stores.---------------------------------------------------------------------------Update 8 months later (Jan 2018): I just bought 4 eggplant so I could make a dinner for my visiting family of six - ALL FOUR ARE ROTTEN! (The eggplant, not the children). I selected the eggplant with the greenest tops and that were the firmest. Now, what do I do? I depended on Safeway for quality food, yet I can't complete the dinner as planned. Yes, it's good to have eggplant available in January, but, please, not if it's all rotten! Does anyone at Safeway check on the quality of their foods? Or do they just sell what they have, regardless of condition?

I love Safeway but not their prices.shelves always stocked and store clean. Donuts use to be the best not so much now. Deli is decent and nice selection for hard to find cheese etc.Staff and cashier friendly but not overly.Love their cakes and fruit tortes.Produce decent but pricey. Only go in for special items. This store is older but decent. Like the one on Ina better.

I have been coming to this Safeway for some time. I usually stop here to get a personal cake for colleagues at work. Twice this week I came in for a cake and both times received a really rude and unfriendly welcome from an employee in the bakery section. She literally ask me to tell her what the cakes name was because pointing my finger was impossible to see with an attitude. Wow! If you work in the public service industry at least fake it.

The selections are good and I always seem to save a lot. If only the staff were as pleasant. I overheard one of the service ladies (Annie? Anne? Something like that) calling the disabled workers the “R” slur, and I was appalled. I’m not sure if this has been brought up to management or if this was one time, but even once is too many times. Hopefully this store will look into hiring staff that can actually respect one another.

We stopped in here before a hiking trip up the Catalina mountains for some snacks. Got some beef jerky, chips, and granola bars. Easy to find what we needed and they had a huge selection. The cashier was very friendly. Recommended.

Two months ago, this Safeway at Swan and Sunrise in metro Tucson would have had five stars from me. But since then they have removed both FRESH Impossible and Beyond plant-based protein from their meat counters, and instead have a much more limited selection of frozen products in a hard-to-find vertical case around the corner. I have protested to four employees, including the floor manager and the meat manager, but no change. They said there was too much spoilage. But they have probably 100 feet of meat out there spoiling daily. I said they should just set less out, with a note to ask for more. But profit is not a good measure of CUSTOMER SERVICE. Now, instead of shopping at Safeway, I have to go to two other stores to collect my groceries. I am saddened to have to do so.

The Sunrise Village Safeway is a model for the Albertsons / Safeway supermarket chain. Wide aisles. Lots of variety from house to relatively high-end brands. Impressive produce, meats, and bakery. And, surprisingly, no waiting to get a capable human checker. Parking was plentiful, free and convenient.

They would have gotten an other star, but many times I have been surprised at the register with a different price, only to find that at further investigation they store the wrong product in the space that had the sale item. For some people in this neighborhood it may not be a problem, but for those who are on a tight budget, it can be too embarrassing to go back to customer service again.Sometimes their computers don't take off the discount when you get multiple items and the cashier has to do it afterwards. Overall the cashiers are good. But you do have to watch as they ring up your items. We mostly try to go to the self check, anymore and ask the attendant for help when something doesn't ring up correctly. Manager specials need to be address with the help of a cashier attendant. All in all the store is clean and staff are helpful. I always thank them for their help with dealing with my concerns. A smile goes a long way.Berries were buy one and get two free. Time to make a pie with all the fruit. Their pie crust is very good too. Yum ♡

All the employees are very friendly and helpful. I always have a nice shopping experience here. The prices are decent and the food selection is wonderful especially in the deli! I would highly recommend this grocery store over another.

Great staff. I lost my purse in the cart. They found and kept it safely. Appreciate for their help. Wolf, you are the best. The foods are delicious and healthy. Shop is clean and well organized. Good store especially during this long time pandemic.

We have shopped at this Safeway store (at Sunrise dr., and Swan) for 13 plus years. Today the Manager had my sons car towed because he parked it in the parking lot to go to school. We will be sure to tell all our friends and you can be assured you just lost our business! Additionally, the fly by night tow company (A&B Towing) damaged the front end of the car. They admitted to the damage but stopped communicating with us when we wanted their insurance information. We just decided to pay the damages ourselves to the sum of $1,390. So thank you for costing us a total of $1,690!

This Safeway has the BEST flower department of any grocery store in Tucson. Amazing selection, price and help.

Always shop their sales and clip their e-coupons for best value otherwise it's an expensive trip to the market compared to prices back in NH. Promos can't be beat...ie boneless chix $1.49lb, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, strawberries each. .97

Beautiful store! Plenty busy, but still plenty of helpful staff. Bathrooms are clean, and has a decent selection. Has the best liquor isle nearby, good local beer selection. Great bakery, meat, deli, and seafoods! Beautiful store, it's the one my wife and I shop at for groceries!

I love this place, I have been going there since it's inception and they have remodeled wisely, which to me means add a generous easy to clean, and clean rest room area. All Safeway's and now Albertsons have good bakeries, well stocked, and clean fresh fruit and vegetable areas, and a well equipped liquor department. In addition, in the shopping center itself is a fine french restaurant, a "red elephant," store which sells items from Peru, and a pet store. Those are the stores I have explored the most....except for the cost cutters which does a wonderful job especially in these circumstances.

When we first moved to the area we were very excited to learn we had a familiar store so close. Very soon my enthusiasm waned. Staff is rude and not customer service focused. With the exception of an male employee that has been there for many years (always friendly and greets you) and the occasional courtesy clerk, the rest desperately need to refresh or learn customer service skills. I can only assume this starts with the management. Not a good reflection on Safeway. For now convenience is wining but not sure how much longer.

Safeway has been in business for many years. They should have the best quality at the best pricing after this much time. in business. I have found shopping there like so many places in this town to be really out of control of price gauging. its like hwy robbery. To ad insult to injury their customer service is so very poor & not acceptable. It's sad that long term companies in the US have just gone down hill right into the toilet.

We tried two other grocery stores for curbside pickup before we settled on this Safeway. At this point in the pandemic (hopefully near the end of Omicron) stock isn't always reliable and we've had some trouble getting the things we want, but Safeway's curbside has worked for about 80% of our grocery needs. Their arrangement for notifications is via their own app and it works pretty well. Four parking spots seems to be plenty. Staff have been very courteous and efficient. Minus one star for their super inaccurate substitutions when we're not careful to specify NO SUBS. Overall good job Safeway!
