What a smooth and HUGE turn out. This area has been in massive need of a grocery store for so long. The city is growing so fast and the grocery stores are thin on this side of the 303. Today was obviously jam packed with people, but besides having to drive around in the parking lot for a bit it wasn't too bad inside. The location is quite large and it's set up very nice. It of course holds a Starbucks as well. The store was very organized service great and even though it was super busy I didn't have to wait more than a few minutes to check out. I don't shop at Safeway as often as I would because prices can be steep; REALLY steep. Today I only needed certain things, wanted to check out the new store and they had some really great sales on things I buy often. The lot is shared with a few other businesses including a nail salon, Pilates, sports clips and a dentist. Soon to also be a McDonald's and I believe a Taco Bell as well.

HUGE thank you and shout out to Lynn and the Bakery crew, Jessica and Angie, for going above and beyond by helping out with a last minute order. They were able to accommodate our request without hesitation and absolutely killed it. Way to go. Outstanding work!!

The store is new, clean and tidy and so far well-staffed. But I continue to be disappointed in Safeway/Albertson's pricing and feel gouged every time I visit. A box of graham crackers should not cost $5. I stopped in for a few items at about 3 pm and there was not a carrot to be seen, other than bagged minis and organic with greens attached. No conventional celery hearts. No bagged onions, but individual onions were $1 each. No conventional green peppers. No individual hummus packs for taking in lunch boxes. Popcorn kernels were outrageously priced. One whole aisle of Valentine's candy (over-priced) but not a single chocolate-covered marshmallow heart. Safeway, you can do better. As the largest grocery retailer in America, you should be working to drive prices down for us, not continue to take advantage.

The online ordering system either doesn’t work or they ignore it. I ordered a cake on line two or three days prior to the pickup day. Went to pickup and they said they didn’t have any orders today. I showed them the receipt and that it was the correct time, date, location, etc and they didn’t seem to care and only gave me the option to get one of their premade ones. They ended up giving me a discount because it wasn’t what I ordered though

Typical safeway experience. You'll end up paying a bit more than your typical Wal-Mart of Kroger depending. But they always offer great sales each week with coupons if you download the app. A nice addition to the nearby communities.

The app is terrible it doesn’t link to previous accounts with the same phone number you have to create an entirely new email which is ridiculous so all the coupons have to be manually entered. Look below at the lady complaining about someone holding up the line. That was me! (probably 😂) anyways I would have lost over a hundred dollars because no one can shop here without coupons but hey must be nice lady! Most people can’t be like, “meh.. what’s $100..” so good for you! Anyways you guys did the best you could except for the angry manager lady.😂😂 🏻

I was so looking forward to this new Safeway grocery store opening in Surprise. First the good about this store, it's new, their produce is really fresh and of good quality. They are doing it right by displaying produce differently than the competition, it all looks so beautiful that you really want to buy even if you don't really need it. Baked goods looked delicious, they even have a sugar free display for people like me who want something sweet without all the sugar. Haven't seen that in other stores.Now for the lacking:Individual French rolls in the case were stale, looked to me that they did not have the selection of sodas, chips and bread like the competition and the checkout personnel are under trained.I was here last night and I went to check out, there was one customer in front of me, I unloaded my items onto the conveyor. I thought sweet I'll be able to check out quickly because the sales clerk had scanned all of the ladies items in front of me and was going take payment. Unfortunately that was not going to happen quickly, the customer had her phone out and started asking the clerk to help her navigate thru the on-line coupons. After about 10 minutes when the clerk couldn't figure it out they called over another clerk who couldn't figure it out either. Hey I get wanting to save money but at the expense of holding up other people in line, thats ridiculous. Here is where the lack of training comes in. Instead of holding up the line they should have taken the customer to the service desk and continues to help her there or they should have asked the clerk next to this line to stay open another 10 minutes and check the rest of the customers out. Instead they let the clerk next door close her lane and leave. In this day and age you want to be treated like you matter, at this store I did not feel valued as a new customer. Prices are high here. I'm going back to Fry's, it's an older store but they treat me good.

Nice and new store! The prices are definitely higher overall than the nearby competitors, sadly. We will come here for things occasionally I bet though. Just not sure major grocery shopping trips.

Their starbucks is not worth it. Chestnut praline latte tasted like hot milk. They won’t even fix it for you. They acted like it was my fault when I ordered what they advertised. Waste of time and money.

I gave a 3-star rating only because of a bad incident with their cashier Andrea. Everyone else I've dealt with have been extremely helpful and have great customer service skills.

The cashier is wearing a mask. Ugh.But here's the rub.She's not even wearing it properly or fully (over her nose AND mouth).So what's the point?Truth be told, there isn't one because she's just virtue signaling. Tell me you're a Biden voter without telling me you're a Biden voter. Move back where you came from.Safeway should disavow any idiots wanting to wear masks.And then she can't be bothered to lift anything. Literally, she told me she couldn't lift anything.Great job, Safeway. Hiring useless idiots. Great job.

Buyer Beware!Don't believe the Yellow pricing tags in front of your items, unless your a member of the " Club ".Thought I was getting a new store deal.Was asked if I was a member at checkout, and I said no.With this new store, I would have thought I'd be offered a membership. Not!Didn't notice my bill till I got home.Probably won't be back.

The new safeway is bright and clean, however prices are HIGHER and they also charge more TAX here!!! Better off sticking with Frys and Costco down the street. Sad to see they missed the mark with this new safeway.
