The Gateway has probably the best brisket I have ever eaten in my life. Their smoked chicken and pulled pork aren’t far behind either. And, yes, that’s saying something because I grew up between AL & GA and I’ve had a lot of barbecue in my life. I highly recommend the barbecue sampler. We got a side of Carolina sauce, but the meat itself is so good that you won’t need a whole lot of sauce. There are plenty of delicious sides too - french fries, cole slaw, and beans for starters. The dessert looked amazing, especially the bread pudding, although there was no way we could even consider dessert after all of the barbecue we had consumed.There’s a walk-up order counter and then lots of seating to choose from, including outdoor picnic tables, although we were there in single digit temperatures, so not many people were out. All of the employees we encountered were friendly and greeted us. We didn’t have to wait long at all for our food. And even if we would have, we could have played pool or played video games or watched football at the bar or made ourselves busy somehow to pass the time. In other words, there’s a lot to do. We saw a stage, so they obviously have live music sometimes, but understandably not in single digit weather. At any rate, if you care for barbecue and ever you find yourself in Arizona’s Round Valley area, then do yourself a favor and head on over to The Gateway! You won’t be disappointed.

We love the food so much and every time we go on a trip we try to stop at a bbq place to compare and nothing has even come close to the taste or price. We may be biased but it really is that good. The service is fast and the prices fair. I am a local and this is the only place in town where I can eat comfortably due to many dietary restrictions. Their sauce is corn syrup free and they have shoestring fries that are gluten free and of course their meat is too. I love their brisket and ribs but their pulled pork is delicious as well. My kids love the battered fries but like I mentioned I love the shoestring fries so thin and crisp. Their sauce is good too but I don’t add any extra from what it comes with because the meat doesn’t need it. If I go for lunch I usually get their big salad which is good as well. Highly recommend!Dietary restrictions: Gluten freeCorn free

Wow wow wow! This place is truly a hidden gem. From the kindness and welcoming from the staff, to the endless entertainment from pool tables and darts, to the delicious food and variety of drinks, to the overall atmosphere, this place has it all!!We were lucky enough to be there for the launch of their wood fired pizza oven. The pizza was so DELICIOUS! The kitchen staff even approached us directly to clarify items on our order. And not the mention, the owner Ash and her husband, personally welcomed and served us. And finally, the prices are more than reasonable and worth it for the quality of food you get.It was truly a delightful place to visit and I highly recommend stopping here for good times, yummy food and drinks! We will certainly be back!!

Great stop on our trip through Arizona. Lots of craft beers and great food options. We ordered a pizza, it came out a little overdone. Before we knew it a waitress walking by noticed it, stopped and almost insisted she have the kitchen make us another. Bottom line is they were great to us and made sure we were happy with our dinner, love this place.

Fantastic. I am from Kansas City. Have grown up eating BBQ my whole life. Been to over 30 BBQ competitions and this place is amazing. Stopped to get gas and the smell sold me. The taste and flavor of everything was great. Brisket was a little dry, but very tender, lean, and flavorful. Also the sauce was spot on, not to sweet. Beer battered fries were fresh, crispy on outside and creamy inside. Will deffenetly make the stop anytime I drive through. Thank you.

We stopped into this place just thinking get a drink, get some gas, goodbye. Then we sauntered into Avery's from the 76 and decided we were hungry. Got a Brisket and beer battered fries, and a BQ-ban (Avery's take on a Reuben) with onion rings. It was delicious, melt in your mouth meat. The atmosphere is amazing just like the food.

Off-season so not busy at all. As far as the bbq, I lived in Texas for a number of years and now travel to the SE a lot, and the food here is on par with most bbq joints you’d find in bigger towns. We got brisket, pulled chicken, and sausage and they were all quite good. Sides of Mac/cheese and ranch beans were solid as well. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the bbq in Springerville.

I had the pulled chicken sandwich. Very tender and moist, sauce was excellent but not overpowering. Lots of chicken, so I'm happy to have leftovers for tomorrow! Seasoning on the fries was great.I'm staying at the RV park, so I'm coming back tonight for the Taco Tuesday special!

The VERY best BBQ you will Ever eat! Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. Their ingredients are fresh and top quality. Their recipes are out of this world good! It's a clean, super nice atmosphere with friendly staff. And the smell when you walk in....mmmmmmm BBQ goodness. My whole family would give it a higher rating if we could & we're a bunch of picky eaters.

Wow! Visiting the area and tried The Gateway Smokehouse based on reviews. The brisket sandwich AND the pulled pork sandwich were the BEST I have ever tried! So tender, yet crispy on the edges. So flavorful you didn’t even need extra sauce. Beans were amazing too. Got here too early to try the daily special (which starts at 5:00) which was a 1-pound smoked baked potato topped with pulled pork and all the extras. Can’t wait to come back again!!

We stopped here on a trip from Holbrook, AZ, to Deming, NM. Between Holbrook and Springdale, not many dining options. The bbq here is fantastic. They really know what they are doing. There was a steady stream of folks who felt the same way. The opened up seating in the closed bar next door, and we sat there. Sorry it wasn’t open, interesting place. Very glad we stopped.

Really good BBQ. I ate here last year and made it a point to come back. This time I got the Family Platter for ~$25 which had 1/4 lb each of pulled pork, brisket and sausage, 1/3 rack ribs and a 1/2 chicken. The sausage was my least favorite but it was still good. The other stuff was fantastic. Perhaps the best thing was side of the Mac n' Cheese ~$3 which was over the top -- rich and dense yet creamy.What I ordered would feed two hungry people or three normal people. Enjoy!

Everything is so good! It's hard to choose. I really like the pulled pork big salad for when I want to be healthy, but the sweet potato fries with Chipotle Ranch that I have to get on the side defeat the purpose of being healthy. The green chile, chicken, Mac n Chs is another favorite.
