I went to put a rare color boa snake on hold and paid $100 out of $250. Called to check on snake and was told “they don’t know what snake I am talking about.” The snake had just mated and they wanted me to bring the eggs back in. The store must have decided to steal it from me and act like they don’t know anything for the eggs to make more money. Don’t know why? I was going to bring in the eggs. My children are extremely sad. We were excited to have a new pet. Shame on them

Best customer service ever. Even though I was exhausted and my best friend is deathly afraid of reptiles we had to go and pick up some rats for my daughter's and my ball pythons. But not without being allowed to walk around and play with this cutey while they were busy first. He of course said I wasn't allowed to look at the other snakes though lol.

I am very upset. At first I started out happy. The people were nice and gave me a good deal and so i bought 2 emerald tree skinks a week apart. The first one was young and smaller and I believe they just got him in. He was very cute and beautiful color and loved to be held. However, I noticed that over the next couple weeks he appeared to not eat as much and all of the sudden, overnight he started breathing with his mouth open. Looked like he was struggling for air. I got him expensive emergency vet appt and it turned out he had severe respiratory infection. Doc affirmed the humidity and temp was what it needed to be, and i told her i barely had him about 3 weeks. She said with how bad it was, he had to have had it brewing before I even got him. For a week i gave him antibiotic and nebulizer treatments. He ended up dying anyway. Because it had been a little over a month by the time i finished treating him, I know the store would dispute it because when i bought him i asked what the guarantee is and he said only a few days. I could get a vet statement but I was tired, and sick at the time and didn't have the energy, so I just let it go.The second one appeared healthy as far as no respiratory infection. The guy didnt know how old he was and couldn't remember when they even got him. He looked more like someone pre-owned him. He was significantly bigger and darker color than the other one and way more skiddish, so I had to hold him in smaller increments. I also noticed even though he was eating pretty good he wasn't gaining weight as much and just recently he looked really lethargic and didn't want to eat. He finally got used to being held, and so i was able to bathe him and look close and see him without all the soil covering him from hiding all the time, and turned out he had MITES all over him. Now every thing was making sense, and he had to have already got them from the store cause I put him in all brand new stuff and he wasn't housed with any other reptiles other than the little guy they put him with at the store.I've been a reptile owner for over 16 years. I have not had these issues ever. I'm so disappointed. Not only because I got attached to them, but because they had to suffer. Not to mention what seemed like a good discount at first turned in to well over 500$ when you factor in vet and meds and supplies. I wish I had seen the other review where others reptiles and feeder got mites from here. I will never shop here again.

Every single snake I get from this place is sick or dies. EVERY SINGLE ONE. (I have 19 other reptiles from other stores so I know it’s not my husbandry)When scales n tails gets an animal in that was surrendered or whatever the situation was-they don’t quarantine it. Several times Ive gotten a snake they just got a few days prior. Any reptile owner, including myself, should know that a new reptile should be quarantined for at least 30 days. It’s been two years now, and I constantly see mites on their animals and feeders.Just don’t go here unless you have time to nurse the sickly animal back to health.I’ve seen animals dead inside of the enclosures. There are animals housed together that should be housed ALONE. I’ve even seen animals eating each other. Yes I said eating..They can keep changing managers, but Nothing‘s gonna change until the quality of the care changes. The sad thing is, the manager they do have doesn’t know didly squat about the animals in the store. You’re better off googling it on your own.

One of my favorite places for my reptile needs. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, who are always willing to help you with anything they can.

If I could give them negative stars I could, the staff is complacent and borderline rude, unless you’re an attractive woman(the guy there followed my girlfriend around like a puppy, it was creepy) and they sell recently surrendered pets with no type of previous quarantine, multiple animals are house together, animals that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE IN THE HOBBY HOUSES COMMUNALLY. As an avid reptile owner my advice is to avoid this place.

Always love our visits to Scales n Tails. We visit near weekly for feeders. They always have a healthy supply for our critters. Have supplied us with multiple reptiles and insects with education and enclosure recommendations built around each specific animal's needs. Incredibly friendly staff that obviously love reptiles and more.

First time going to this reptile store, overpriced and had to let them know about two dead reptiles. I saw 3-4 small iguanas in a huge cage that was dirty and smelled horrible. There were hanging on top of one another to reach the heat (no basking area) and all the way in the bottom there were two dead.Very upsetting to see!Do better!!!!!!

This place is pretty cool. The shop is small, but they're specific only to reptiles. I bought live insects for my bearded dragon and they were good quality. The prices are slightly higher than normal since this is a mom & pop-style shop, but the staff was friendly/knowledgeable and also since they specialize in reptiles they seemed to have everything necessary. It's very close to my house so I'll be going there more often.

Went there today to buy 1 rat and 2 mice for my 3 snakes. The place was very dirty, we saw dead reptiles, the water bowls were empty and the reptile cages were really hot.We still chose to try their feed and left. Once home, I opened the box and the mice were full of mites and the mice were dead but looked deflated like the mites sucked out the blood from them. We called and the people said they were "ok" a type of "mouse lice." And they said it was harmless! I called other reptile stores and breeders and they all said they were mites. We googled pictures of mites and that is what they looked like. I don't know why they would lie about that but they could've killed my snake. Please never buy here, I know I won't.

The store manager, Jeremy, is very patient and knowledgeable. He took so much time to answer our questions and to give suggestions.Kevin, one of the sales associates, is very kind, knowledgeable and patient as well.Robert is also patient and very cool. The GM (I don't remember his name) is great. The whole vibe is chill and the (current above named) staff is knowledgeable and not in the least bit pretentious. Great to have a place like this in the area.

Wish i could give the place zero stars. There are 2 “managers” who work there Dave and Jeremy. Dave is one of the better ppl in the hobby and a very good/helpful worker. On the other end the dude Jeremy is a top class a-hole. Sold me a snake infested with mites/parasites and when we cane back to get some treatment, he wanted to hit us with “we told you abt it, you knew abt it, its not my fault”. well considering he let me hold that very snake a week before buying it that means he is either cool with customers touching parasite-infested or just very very not smart. Then as i proceeded to walk out the store he wanted to talk trash to my gf but be all nice when i came back. And yes everything people say abt there bein dead animals is true. Look at their lizards, frogs, and tarantulas. Jeremy is horrible with customer service. If you guys are certain on going to a Scales n Tails location go to the one on thunderbird. The owner chris there is 100% better than jeremy wishes he could be. Horrible dude who’s animal abusing self wont get any service anymore. Beware he also loves the excuse “ well i dont specialize with these, i do monitors”

Got a bearded dragon for my son and stopped by this shop to pick up some supplies. I was greeted by to young men I believe by the Name of Ken and Kyle. I told them my situation and they went above and beyond to help me understand what I needed and answered every question I had. It was truly and good and refreshing experience. They shop had an incredible collection of reptiles and critters. Just bringing your kids would be a cool experience for them. I highly recommend this place to anyone!!

Even though their prices are a little high and their selection isn’t the greatest I purchased an item for my daughters lizard and paid cash. The man didn’t have correct change and shorted me and said “sorry, don’t have it”, and didn’t care. The correct customer service is to either round up to the next coin you do have in your drawer, or take from your tip jar. Customers pay for your items and ultimately pay your salary, you shouldn’t be short changing them.

Coolest reptile store I have been to. My wife who is a vet tech was happy to see how the animals looked. She said the looked healthier and happier then any other store she's been to. Great shop. Oh yeah, service is great too!

This is by far the best reptile store I have been too in the valley. They have everything here, they even carry isopods and spring tails. The variety of reptiles from spiders to chameleons is insane. They have everything for your reptile care, I was definitely impressed.

Bought a few rats from them over the past month, but today.... Today 8-13-23 I brought a rat home and it was infested with rat mites. Very disappointed that we can't buy from here anymore, but I'm not willing to have an infestation in my home.

Super friendly staff. We came to get fruit flies for our jumping spider. Our toddler was so amazed by the reptiles and spiders. One of the staff took out different kinds of spiders and a scorpion to show us. It was a great experience will be back again

All the reptiles here are starving ! I witnessed 4 turtles eating a baby turtle alive ! That’s how I knew they were hungry! i cant even believe i saw this ! people here are lazy & donr jwep up with their reptiles . The enclosures look like they haven’t been touched in years ! The glass is super dirty you can’t even see the animals inside ! The people here might not be educated enough to know that you don’t put baby tortoises w other type adult turtles .. I can’t believe I witnessed what I did and I regret buying from them in the past . Guy I spoke to him a leaning up against some boxes with his head down looking like he was tired while I was asking questions . pretty rude !
