I went to put a rare color boa snake on hold and paid $100 out of $250. Called to check on snake and was told “they don’t know what snake I am talking about.” The snake had just mated and they wanted me to bring the eggs back in. The store must have decided to steal it from me and act like they don’t know anything for the eggs to make more money. Don’t know why? I was going to bring in the eggs. My children are extremely sad. We were excited to have a new pet. Shame on them

Dave was beyond amazing! We were purchasing our first spider for our sons birthday. Kinda knew what we wanted but so so happy we went to Scales and Tails. The lady there was nice but said Dave is the guy for spiders and she was so right! We ended up with all the goods and a gorgeous black Brazilian tarantula! Can’t say enough about how amazing our experience was! He spent so much time with us answering questions and getting the spiders home set up. He even let us see some new additions to their collection! We recommend them to anyone and everyone! Thank you!!

I wish this was a good review because the store has great products, neat reptiles, and decent prices but i went in today to get a hundred feeder crickets at 1:15 and the long haired gentleman shook three towle rolls into a bag and charged me about 10$ i have bought a hundred many many times and know what it should look like in a bag so i kindly asked him to give me the amount i asked for so he shook another towel in it and gave it back to me still short and without counting. They have tubes to make it easy to get close but nothing of the sort from him. I did not want to argue in case i was wrong so i got home and counted out the 68 crickets in my bag quite bummed i got over charged and that my purchase didnt warrant and worth. I hope even on a sunday the employees can not be careless and give the customer at the least what we pay for and maybe add in some customer service to make it worth returning. This location is clean, well stocked and very unique.

I have been to the Thunderbird location a couple of times now and I have recieved awesome customer service each time. Today I came in (Easter Sunday) and there was a bit of a rush. There were people waiting in line and multiple phone calls. There was only one person (Dan?) working and he handled everything in stride. Every customer was helped and he even thanked me for my patience and answered all of my questions. As a first time snake owner I felt really comfortable, and this will definitely be the place I go to for all of my reptile needs.

Came to this store to become a first-time reptile owner. Spent well over 450 on an enclosure, bearded dragon, and extras. They ensured me by spending the extra 150 on the 40g enclosure that I would be going home with something that would last my beardie a lifetime. After doing research and asking others, 80% of what they told me was completely wrong. I'll have to fork out another couple hundred dollars for a new enclosure in 6-12 months. One that is bigger and has doors on the front. I've already had to spend an additional 150 else where to make sure this one is suitable in the meantime. Feeling frustrated. Don't come here and expect that what they are telling you is right! Do lots of independent research before purchasing a reptile. Join Facebook groups and get first-hand knowledge from experienced owners. Don't make the same mistakes I did!

All the animals are well kept and well fed plus the verity is amazing from ball python to a leg less lizard as well as things with legs to to many legs plus all the “creature comforts” for the animalsAnytime your in talk to Kenny or ash they are awesome

I went into this store after work one day. I’ve been thinking about getting a pet but needed some inspiration. I walked in and was greeted by Mireille (Red), and I told her my situation. She showed and let me hold a leopard gecko, bearded dragon, a couple snakes, a monitor (I think), and gave me a plethora of information. I could tell she really loved animals.Because of her, I’m researching and looking into a bearded dragons as a possible next pet. I would 100% recommend coming here if you want a reptile or want to see and hold different reptiles to help decide what pet to get!

We will randomly visit reptile shops in the valley when we have time to kill. This place is our new favorite. The employees were knowledgeable and so friendly. One of the employees was so good with my daughter and let her pet one of their iguanas. She’ll remember this experience for a long time. I only come here to get my fresh killed rats for my baby. All the staff is super knowledgeable & nice. Been going here since they officially opened & haven’t had one bad encounter. Their staff actually cares about what’s best for your reptiles.

🚩BEWARE🚩Although the staff is friendly and somewhat knowledgeable, they have a mite infestation. This poor guys is covered in them! And you are able to see them crawling on others as well, very sad to see. They staff has to be aware of this issue and are just trying to get rid of inventory. If you do decide to bring one of these guys home (or even handling at the store) you’re putting your whole collection at risk.

My kids and also my husband are in love with the store recently we meet the place and the staff is amazing, gentles, and realy prepared they know everything about all the different especies of reptiles and more. Recently we adopted to Rocky a little Gecko ans they teach us how take care of him, they also left my family and I touched and try to feel confident with the new members of our family so now we are thinking in a tarantula for my office.

Unlike the Phoenix West location, this place is disgusting. The workers do not keep the enclosures clean to the point of the smell being overpowering. One of the bearded dragons that had been there for two months has a terrible case of mites that they didn’t even know about until I held him. The lighting on the enclosures is not suitable for the animals. For example, the beardie with mites had a heat lamp and coil uvb that was hanging half off of his enclosure. He wasn’t in a quarantine area and the salad he was provided looked days old. Many of the animals are in similar situations around the shop.

Lovely store however, I told the long hair dude that the blue tongue skink has mites, he let us wash our hands cuz we were covered in them, but we noticed later a few other reptiles have them too 😭 he didn't tell the other person working there. Seemed like it was shrugged off. Hopefully they help the babies.

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!I am appalled at this shop, what I saw there left me speechless. For clarification: I’ve owned a ball python for 3 years and been buying and keeping live rats for her food for about 1 year.The moment I opened the door I could smell the snake feces. The younger snakes were kept on aspen bedding (which you should NOT use for ball pythons as it does not maintain the humidity they need and molds easily when damp) that was littered with their feces and previous sheds. Given the size of the animals and how often they likely eat, there was at best a couple weeks of poop in each cage, at worst several. The glass and walls of many of the enclosures had feces and dirt smeared across them.Luckily I did not see any reptiles that I could say for sure were sick or in distress but nevertheless, with the conditions they were kept in were not healthy and could easily lead to disease.However, the complete opposite can be said for the live feeder rodents. In the back they had a dozen or so tiny baby rodents (some were still pink and most definitely had their eyes still closed) in a container of some sort on the floor with no bedding. The small rats were in a rack set up with their bin literally HALF FULL of obviously soiled bedding. It was yellow with urine and full of feces. The rats inside were bone thin. Their fur was scraggly, any exposed skin was red and splotchy. Several of the rats were laying down in the corner of the bin and one I saw that did move around did so weakly with some kind of limp.I was shown the drawer with the mice but I admit at this point I had to leave. I know that these rodents are meant to be food but there isn’t a single critter in that rack that I would want to feed to my ball python. They are skinny, sickly, and weak. From that standpoint alone they would make awful food for someone’s pet. As intelligent animals themselves, those rodents are suffering and they are being abused.BARE MINIMUM FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR REPTILES HEALTH DO NOT BUY THIER FOOD HERE!!!!
