I cannot begin to explain how much joy this little man has brought to our family. We are so grateful for AZ Small dog rescue but specifically for this tiny firecracker! Every single part of this journey has been a dream thanks to the amazing foster Destiny, she not only delivered this liter but brought our Duke (formerly Sirius) back to life after being born not breathing. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the amazing team and foster families that give so many families the opportunity to have a lifetime best friend!

If you are thinking about getting a dog, you should visit AZ Small Dog Rescue. Everyone there is so nice, helpful, and dedicated to finding these homeless animals their forever home. All dogs have visited a veterinarian and are spayed or neutered. Some dogs have been fostered to help them through health or behavior issues. We adopted our Dillon, formerly known as Dell, and our tripod Wiggy a few weeks ago. It was such an awesome experience, and our dog Gizzy is so happy now that he has two brothers to play with

On 10-19-23 I adopted a Maltese mix named Prince. I have only great things to say about him. There's so many great and loving small dogs at the AZSDR that need a good home. The staff are volunteers and they're trying to make a difference in these dogs lives.

My wife and I picked up our new forever pal. Arizona Small Dog Rescue staff were very professional and each one of them were happy to be there. The place was actually pretty clean. The volunteers were very busy cleaning constantly. All in all we are very happy with our experience.

First off, the Staff is Amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable. A clean and caring environment for dogs who are waiting to be paired with the right owners.I searched multiple shelters online to find a new dog for my Dad to help him become more active and improve his quality of life. I was very impressed with the entire process of getting him a new companion from online viewing and bio, to the meet and greet to see if they were a good fit and ultimately finding him sweet little 'Petunia'.Thank you

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I applied online to provide a forever home for this little man formally known as Fillmore. After a couple days of email exchanges with the adoption coordinator we established concerns for finding the right home as his abandonment issues dominated his trusting & connecting with humans. This beautiful boy was abandoned after his owners moved. They communicated all the information they had on his past which was incredibly helpful. Their show of real concern for the dog was refreshing. When I was told I can come in for a visit… little did I know I was going to be walking out with my best friend.He went from cowering in the corner to seeking comfort in my arms. It was obvious that I was his and he was mine. The staff was observant and made decisions based on the animals needs with the best outcome for their lives.While the dog & I were leaving, I told them… “if you ever wonder if you’ve ever made a difference in someone’s life… you absolutely did at least two today…” Thank you for the opportunity to love this beautiful boy! He is all smiles & hasn’t left my side since we jumped in my jeep for the journey home. I know it’s not conventional but Fillmore quickly because Jasper . He responds to the change as if it had always been his name. 🐾So today, on a Thanksgiving, Jasper & I are giving thanks to the team at AZ Small Dog Rescue & all that you do to care for these amazing creatures!“Gottcha Day” 11.23.21-CeaJay & Jasper 🐾

I stopped in today to donate some money and have a peek at the dogs. They really do a great job with the resources they have, and if you are looking for a new small dog have a look in their shelter. They have a list of dogs waiting to come into their shelter so adopting one actually helps your dog, and the next one who fills the spot at the shelter from you adopting.

it’s been over a year since i adopted my best friend, onyx, formerly known as “stinky pete,” from this place. the staff was wonderful in talking with me for hours as i got my fearful nugget to warm up. also love that they made sure he got neutered, got his shots, and that he was healthy before adopting him out. i’ve met a few other people who have adopted from them and never heard a bad word about them. can’t say enough good things about them.

Very sad that I could not adopt a dog I wanted from there because I didn't have a 6 foot fence. She was a small dog and would never be outside without me but no exceptions. It is good they have the means to keep such strict rules but...seems a bit unreasonable. My daughter and son-in-law were willing to pay whatever price so I could have a companion, which was hundreds of dollars, she would get the very best care and love. The people seemed nice enough and said they were sorry but no exceptions, not sure how sincere they were, anyway... AAWL seemed to have better care facilities but I didn't have a connection to any of the dogs there. I read reviews on Yelp for Arizona Small Dog Rescue and some stated health problems with the dogs they had adopted so its probably good it didn't work out. Would not recommend or go back to this shelter. AAWL is offering free adoption for a time this month, I recommend them instead. Just wasn't meant to be for me to get a companion for now I guess. I lost my girl Skeeter of 14 years back in December and my house is very empty without a dog to share the space. Skeeter pictured below.

We recently adopted a wonderful dog from this rescue. She is amazing and we are so happy that she's part of our family. The work that this rescue does is wonderful and the staff was incredibly friendly and made sure that we were ready to take her home and introduce her to our pets and do everything correctly to keep her safe. I cannot recommend them highly enough, make sure you're ready for a new pet before you adopt!

Picking up a dog I've adopted from AZSDR this Saturday. The people who work there are absolutely amazing. I know my new dog is gonna be so good for me. I'm not sure who's rescuing who. Thank you AZSDR for being so nice to me and for what you all do for these small little dogs who don't have homes thru no fault of their own!!!!!

This dog rescue is amazing! We got our little guy Jamel from them this past weekend and we are super happy to have our new friend 🐕❤Sam is awesome, she helped us with Jamel's adoption process! You can tell how much Sam and the other employees love the dogs and work hard to place them in good homes.Our guy has settled right in and we are so glad we adopted him from ASDR. The rescue had him neutered, gave him all his shots and had his teeth cleaned prior to us meeting him. Then, on the day of adoption, they gave him a really cute haircut, a brand new leash and harness before we left.

The entire team at AZSMDR made my adoption of INKY seemless...From my meet & greet, to my adoption paperwork...What a friendly, beautiful, caring group of people that love these dogs sooo very much. Inky has melted my heart and I'm excited to call him my fur-ever companion... Please Adopt - never Buy--- there are so many wonderful dogs out there that are looking for their fur-ever homes. Some may take a minute to warm up, like Inky did.... But once they start to come around, its nothing but pure love because they know they're finally HOME.

These are the nicest, kindest and most knowledgeable dog people in Arizona. I've had the pleasure of both volunteering and adopting from them and I highly recommend both. Working with Sam and Jennifer really opened my eyes to the plight of these little dogs and how invested ASDR is in finding homes for them or giving them a good life if there isn't a home to be found (they are a no kill shelter). The adoption process was smooth and thorough, ensuring that all family members and existing pets interacted well with the new addition. They also checked in with us to see how everything is going. All in all, a great experience!

This is wonderful non profit organization that provides availability to adopt dogs that otherwise would have been surrendered to the Humane Society. They are a no kill shelter. We have started donating to this shelter after adopting two Chihuahuas who have become part of our family. They are such a blessing and we don't know what we'd do without the cuddle buns now. They came to our home pretty much house trained and only bark when someone comes to the door. Great security alarms as their hearing is very acute.

Great place to adopt. We've now adopted two dogs from here. They love their dogs so much, and do their best to take care of them.And I'm so thankful they have limitations in place to block adoptions for people who do not have the best intentions for the dog.Actually had that experience when we were in there adopting our second dog this week. Scandalous people trying to take home a puppy. They were NOT allowed to take home the puppy. THANK GOODNESS.This place picks up on scandalous behavior really fast, and that's awesome. Dogs deserve the best.Note ...If you have a heart for giving and are able to donate, this is a great place to give.Thank you Arizona Small dog rescue.
