The owner is nice, smart, and well-informed for all plants and pond upkeep. The fish are gorgeous, and the ponds he has set up are well maintained. He had a very nice selection of fish and plants and plants not native to Az and some pond care equipment. Huge Koi and Goldfish. BUT the prices are a bit higher than usual.

I love this place! Great Koi fish! Beautiful water gardens, lots of plants and fish to choose from... They are very knowledgeable, and willing to answer all your questions. One thing I like is they even offer fertilizer for the water lilies... very important. They didnt have everything I wanted this time, so I will go back in about a month and check it out again! My pond is looking beautiful !!

My husband and I drove an hour to go to Backyard Pond. It was our first time and we didn't realize it was at a house so that took us back for a minute but it made the experience that much better/unique. Quan was super sweet and knowledgeable and took the time to talk to my husband about our pond issues. He gave suggestions, wasn't pushy, offered to have us send him photos when we got home and he could give more suggestions. In the end we decided to order a new filter system through him (which we will go back in a week to pick up) and some pond supplies. Once we have our new filter system established and our pond in better order (thanks to Quan) we will go back to get some plants from him. I thought Quan and Lisa's prices were reasonable considering the beautiful Koi they have imported from Japan. Koi ponds are not a cheap investment to being with but the time, knowledge and care Quan and Lisa put into their ponds and Koi are worth it.

This place is fing amazing. Its totally unexpected and totally out if this world. When you map it, its going to take you to a house. Yes a house. And there backyard is exactly that a pond paradise. They have Kios that just take your breath away. They do cancer treatments research with some of them. I highly suggest giving them a visit and look at how its done.

Amazing customer service. I am a fellow lover of Koi and it’s wonderful to see someone who obviously cares very much about the happiness of the fish and cares about the customer. He saved me so much money by giving information not easily found online. He has so much experience and passion for koi and ponds, it was a pleasure going to his business. If anyone is complaining about that it’s at his house, they need to get a grip. It was very clean and professional and his yard is breathtaking.

This place is awesome. My wife and i are VERY new Koi pond owners, and had a lot of questions the first time we came here. Kwan was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, and clearly put his customers above making a sale. We came to buy aquatic plants, but he recommended we wait, and address some issues with our new pond first, to ensure the fish, and the plants would be introduced to a healthy pond. Once we took his advice and prepared the pond, we went back and bought a selection of ornamental grasses, aquatic and bog plants. Since then, we went back again to buy more plants. The lady that helped us that time took time to explain (and show pictures of) the different kinds of lily's they offered, explained how to care for them, and even offered advice for how to care for the fish (which we purchased from another place before finding The Backyard Pond). I highly recommend this place to everyone!

We had gone there and the place was open very beautiful very knowledgeable people and it was hard to find right on the street in the house and development but very nice place if you got a large koi pond do you want some beautiful beautiful fish thank you that was beautiful place to visit and we'll be back if we get it big enough on thank you for all the information you gave us

Neat place to go, I didn't find any other place nearby selling aquatic plants. Be aware this is a residence, I drove right past. They talked me out of buying more fish and certain plants, I love when places are willing to lose a sale for the good of the customer. I left with one plant and it is doing great

Needed dirt for my pond plants. No problem. Got it. Had questions and all were answered. Owner was more than happy to be of any help. He carried by dirt to my vehicle. Luv this place. Easy to get to.

This is a business run out of a house with multiple ponds for stocking fish for sale. They have the best selection of imported Japanese Koi with all types of colors, and the owner Quan knows all about the fish, ponds, plants, and supports maintaining my pond on house calls.

Cool looking place.. Nice guy that helped me.. The prices are crazy high (literally 2x the online price after a discount).. Closer to 3x the price before the discount.. the thing I can't believe is that I always check prices no matter where I am but I felt so comfortable there that I went with it and almost threw up when I got home and looked it up online. If we are talking in the hundreds for one item with that increase.. That's just price gouging.

Very UNPROFESSIONAL!! The woman who came out to show us around never introduced herself and was quite rude. I felt talked down to. She acted as if I was the biggest idiot in the world. I am new the pond/Koi world and asked a lot of questions. Do not go here if you are new to this hobby, they are not going to help you they will just make you feel inferior. My husband who was with me said he felt she was on drugs because she could not keep a train of thought and would go off on tangents that didn't make since. Don't waste your time or money here!!

It was out of someones house. Ponds were everywhere and beautiful. However they had virtually no supplies and when I ask questions they weren't actually answered and the person was going on and on with complaints about how the City put something in their pond water and it was just a odd experience

Koi are very overpriced. They offer fish scrapes for your sick fish but charge you even if you are a returning customer. Other koi seller I buy from scrapes for free and koi are gorgeous and affordable. Don’t pay 80$ for a 6 inch koi!

Only go if you want a snail infestation. If you try to make a return expect a hassle and everything you did was wrong. Even though you paid outrageous price for plants if you get one out of several that doesn't grow you hear a lot of static and excuses. Won't be back!

I called about snails for my green spotted puffer and the women that answered was rude. She seemed to be asleep just before picking up. Her responses to my questions were very unprofessional and came off very rude. I asked if she was the owner and she replied yes I am.. I told her She was rude and ended my call. I will not be going or referring this place to no one.

To the people leaving 1 stars , could you elaborate your issues? Touching fish that arent yours or putting your hands into someone else's pride and joy without washing is a no no. Be respectful to other peoples home and work that they opened for you.

Rude unprofessional contradicted products and all the advice I received from lady’s husband a week prior. Told me I infected her pond with disease, and STDs by putting a finger tip in the water. Embarrassing level of professionalism.

Compared to the other backyard businesses, this was the most awesome. All questions were answered. Prices were a little high but you get what you pay for. Will be back. You have to see the display of fish!
