Best bird watching spot in southern AZ! Be sure to drop a few bucks $ in the sugar donation box, they really deserve it considering they have portable toilets, free binocular use, guide books, wonderful volunteers, shady seats, multiple viewing spots, new trails opening and the most amazing birds!!!We saw….Gila WoodpeckerLadderback WoodpeckerLazuli BuntingSummer TanagerBlack-Headed GrosbeakVermillion Fly CatcherLesser GoldfinchesHummingbirds:Black Chinned, Violet Crowned, Broad BilledBerwick’s WrenWhite Breasted NuthatchThere was more but I’ll stop here, you get the point 😎

Had a great time on a short visit. Was there in the heat of the summer. Loved the gardens, saw a lot of hummingbirds, and several others of the local birds.Loved the signage of the history and on the birds you may see.Did a short hike beyond the gardens, went for a short bit and came back. Saw a deer running off in the woods. Would love to come back in cooler weather.

This is an amazing place. Run by volunteers so please make a small donation. Wrong time of year for us to see a wide variety of birds. Would love to visit in spring or summer when the activity peaks.

Very Very Busy but a nice small venue not far from the Sonoita Creek Preserve. The day we were there it was very crowded during the midday hours. Parking was a problem with the parking lot full and cars lining the road for quite a ways. Weekends are worse. Best time to come in spring? A weekday, fairly early or fairly late. You still might encounter a crowd. Lately, large commercial birding tours have taken to visiting, bringing affluent tourists who sometimes act entitled and are rude. That said, the birding in Patagonia (and nearby) is unmatched. Come early, choose your visit day and time to avoid the crowds and enjoy a world-class experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Very large outdoor area. Good for nature walks, but not great for birding. We didn't see any birds we don't normally see in our own backyard. The most interesting thing we saw was a bright red dragon fly.We were told we were there during the worst hours of the day (about 2 pm). They didn't tell us what the best hours would be.The place is not easy to find and only has 4 parking spaces. The good thing is that it's free, but they do accept donations.

Amazing place to see hummingbirds! You will be amazed at how many beautiful creatures you will see. Expect to spend a couple hours here taking in the all that there is to see including an easy walking path. There is no admission fee but donations are very much appreciated (the nectar consumed on a daily basis and overall upkeep requires us to all do what we can/if we can). Enjoy, it is one of my fav places to just chill out!

We went to Paton for the hummingbirds but came away with seeing 3 new varieties of hummers and so much more.... The variety of other birds was far more than we had expected.... truly an amazing place to visit..... very knowledgeable staff as well as fellow visitors all eager to help and share with each other all by name that is there being seen & experienced together..... easy parking and many places to sit to watch as so many birds fly in and around the feeders and grounds from area habitats... very special....

My wife and I have wanted to visit for about 5 years. The peaceful, quiet buzzing after literally dozens of hummingbirds at roughly half a dozen feeders is truly an amazing experience. To see such tiny, graceful birds an arm's length from you is simply awe-inspiring.

Such a lil gem to find that is such a relaxing and wonderful place to visit. Nice little benches and chairs under a covered overhead shelter. Trees galore and hummingbird feeders in sight for viewing the multiple species. Lots of birders around with cameras and binoculars. The docents were knowledgeable and helpful. We arrived when they were putting out new bird feed. They were standing around and giving info on the varieties to be seen and where they were located.

Awesome place. Must see if you like nature. You dont need to be birdwatcher its easy with feeders around and an audubon volunteer who was very friendly and helpful. We saw dozens of types of birds in 3 hrs with minimal walking mostly sitting by feeders. We are from the east where we have only ruby throated hummingbirds. While hete we were thrilled to see 3 species multiple times:magnificent violet crowned and broadill. All identified by Audubon volunteer as they are quick in and out usually. Enjoy!

If your a bird lover of just like to see birds flitting around it's no question you have too stop here. Lots of bird feeders so there's lots of birds and more kinds of hummingbirds than you knew existed.Started out as a private home but now is affiliated with the Tuscon Audubun. They have lover links to cameras focused on hummingbird feeders and sometimes have expert borders on site so you know what your seeing. There's a very nice trail that goes to the nearby Nature Conservancy property.Go there... Go out of your way to go there.

If you are in Patagonia this is a perfect stop to stretch your legs! The history of the property is such a great story. We were able to explore on our own and the property connects to some additional trails.

This is a cute area near a wash to go birding. There is a one mile trail nearby (with trees and shade and stuff) and it looked like other birders were just wandering the wash to spot birds. The nature center is currently closed due to Covid restrictions but I look forward to going back some time. The highway all the way out there is blooming with wild sunflowers right now (September) and it's so pretty. I was able to see birds, squirrels, javelinas, and butterflies.
