Nestled in the mountains along Route 66, a charming tourist town full of donkeys is a must see. The town has many shops of all kinds from gems to metal shops to candy shops , the whole family will enjoy this place. The donkeys are cool, they just come up and let you pet them. It’s amazing that they just walk around doing whatever they want ! Really rad to see this!

Awesome little town. Lots of gift shops. People are friendly and so are the burros. They come up to you and let you pet them. They know people who work there so they form friendship with them. At exactly 6 pm and town shuts down and burros leave. It becomes almost a ghost town. So if you want to see the burros you better be there way before 6 pm. You can also spot the burros on the way to and from the town. They come up to your car and want to be petted. Also, if you're afraid of heights then avoid the Oatman Highway as it goes on the side of the mountain. Beautiful but scary drive. Take the other highway

Great place!!! Freat fun!!!!! Kids loved the donkeys and the history and old west town are an extra bonus. Because of the donkeys and the tourists, this is one town that didn't go ghost. The main street through the center of town is still used to get to destinations. Although you might get stuck in a traffic jam, when the gunfight is going on, or the donkeys decide to stop for a snack in the roadway.

Super chill donkey's wandering around small town streets. Local shops selling touristy route 66 memorabilia. Most shops seem to close super early. Couldn't locate a bathroom.Food for the donkeys can be bought at most shops, they are very eager to eat it. While not exactly friendly, they will definitely let you pet them and usually stay close enough for pictures.

A all out fun day we took the adventurous route driving our Jeep Wrangler sport unlimited down the was rock hounding and taking in the spring blossoms. Oatman is a must see old mining town with lots of shopping and plenty of good food entertainment and American history.

Is it touristy? Yes. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Did I love it entirely? Also yes. The donkeys are cute, the town is quaint and old-west-y in the extreme. It's entirely contrived, but I had a great time. We even got a chance to see one of the staged gun fights, which was entertaining. Also puts you in a good spot to drive a very curvy bit of Route 66, which I found fun.

Whenever we go to Laughlin we visit the Burros of Oatman on Route 66, our kids love to go see the Burros and get to feed them, touch them, but parents, never leave your kids alone or walk Behind the Burros, they get excited from getting fed and tend to push each other and fight a little, there's more to Oatman than just Burros, there's a 5 minute play in the middle of the road by 2 old guys, pretty nice. This place goes back to the 1800s when there was gold found here. If you keep driving passed for another 9 miles you LL get to an old gas station from way back, it's out of service thou. Great area for some great pictures.

Oatman is a real interesting place. Donkeys just wander the streets trying to get you to feed them these alfalfa cubes that you buy from a vender there. The baby donkeys that can’t eat because they’re drinking milk still, have stickers on their four heads that read “do not feed me I am still drinking mothers milk”. The rest of Oatman is shops where you buy trinkets and treasures that the vendor sell so basically it’s a bunch of gift shops and a restaurant where there’s supposed to be over $1 million in one dollar bills stapled to the walls and ceilings of the restaurant. We saw it, that may be true. They do act out gun fights there in the streets to give some entertainment. Nice friendly people though.

Took Grandkids there had a good time. However you are not allowed to feed burrows carrots any longer. They sell pellets you can feed them.

Second time coming and I love it. Brought the family to feed "wild" donkeys and my sister and dad were having a blast. They sell the pellets on property for a buck which is perfect and have many gift stores around to get souvenirs. Bathrooms are outdoor houses so be prepared with some hand sanitizer as there is no sinks.

The donkeys here we're very nice and was very fun feeding them. The giftshops are really cool and looking at all the old furniture and materials was just really cool to look at.

Decided to travel this portion of old 66 on the way from Vegas to Sedona and what an amazing stop! Wall the town and check out the burros left behind by miners 100yrs ago!! Just don't step in their droppings! Lol! Make sure you drive it during daylight heading East it you will regret the dangers, wonderful views, and unforgettable drive of Sitgreaves Pass!!

The Oatman Highway (Route 66) drive is awesome! Many hairpin curves and beautiful scenery. Once you arrive at Oatman you are transported back in time to the mining days. Many donkeys roam the street while you check out the many historic buildings. This is a must see area in Arizona. I recommend you take at least 3 to 4 hours to thoroughly enjoy your visit. Great attraction!

Absolutely adore Oatman and their infamous Burros which reside in town! If you come from the Kingman side of the mountains, you get to actually travel the historic Route 66 up into and through the mountains. It is a VERY VERY windy twisting DANGEROUS two lane road and MUST BE DRIVEN WITH CAUTION!!! Speed limit about 20mph... There are many stunningly gorgeous overlook points where you can park and take photos. About halfway thru this mountain pass road there is a set of stairs carved into the mountain leading up to a small fishbowl spring where there is fish inside to greet you! Once you get into Oatman itself, you will find a quaint and historic mining town self described as "the ghost town that never dies", with old buildings and storefronts, restaurants, museums, an area for kids and adults to sift for precious rocks, and a twice daily 'gunfight' put on for the tourists in the middle of the street. You can visit the old jail for a dollar donation, explore a mock mineshaft, learn about Oatman's history, go rockhounding around town, see the Elephant's Tooth mountain peak which overlooks the town, visit the old timey photoshop, there's an Escape Room put on in the evenings, a lovely candy shop, and of course the burros!! They are semi-friendly, but steer clear of their back ends!! Also, be cautious with kids and feeding the burros, as the burros can get a little overzealous and end up biting. Not usually maliciously, just testing the fingers to see if they are carrots, so of deal... it hurts! Just be aware! They have machines where you can get feed for the burros, or bring along some carrots to feed them if you like! They let you pet some of them, and the babies are adorable! Be warned, they walk and reside in-town! This is THEIR home! They poop and pee where they wish, they bray; Loudly! They do not always move when you are trying to drive through, but you must respect them. And kindly respect the shop owners signs asking folks to not feed the burros directly in front of their doors/shopways as it encourages the burros to pee/poop closer to store entrances making a stinky experience for everyone, especially in the hot summer sun!

Even though I have lived in Arizona for 28 years, this was the first time I and my hubby have been here, it was an awesome experience, We of course had to Google Map on how to get here, but we made and loved it here, the donkeys were so adorable!!

What a great old town on the old Route 66! The residents of Oatman have done a great job of keeping this historic town a fun place to be without being too "touristy". This is a great place to bring kids to see the donkeys walking all over town (watch your step! you may step in the donkey left overs) and they are wild so keep the kids controlled. The road in from the North is VERY narrow and windy, much better from the South. It is well worth the time as are all of the other little sights along Route 66 in this area.

Always a fun place to go! Lots of Donkeys roaming the streets waiting for treats. Most of the stores sell treats you can feed them. Lots of shops to visit, and don't forget the drive there itself! Spectacular views of the mountains and valleys. A must visit!

It is fun to have the donkeys all around. However, it can be very intimidating and scary for youngsters since the donkeys get very pushy/agressive in order to get the food.

Very fun place to go just really did not like the road there fair warning if you're afraid of heights and stuff because it is a very windy curvy Road up mountains down mountains but it's very well worth going and seeing all the donkeys out there and being able to pet him and seen all the shops and talkin to the people that work at the shops they are so friendly and knowledgeable of everything but beware they do start closing up their shops at about 4:30 in the afternoon there is no place to stop and get gas on the way there really eat so you may want to make sure you have a full tank of gas and some snacks with you and they do have bags of donkey food and they are a dollar each which is very well worth it I did include some photos of the road so you can see what the road does look like

Such a fun time. One of the baby burros needs help, it just came up to me with its head down appearing to ask for help. So this is a plea to vets to check it out, you can feel the ribs of the baby and it's not eating. Please someone help that poor baby.

The best kept secret on Route 66. Take a day, make the trip. Don't feed the burros, except hay cubes you can buy in town. Be respectful.. And bring your camera!

Oatman is a pretty unique city. We went there for donkeys, pretty cool to see them just walking around the city. Has lots of little shops and restaurants. Make sure you spend few bucks there to support local economy. Also check out their old school gun fights.

It's a one of a kind town that's for sure. It's an awesome older town for tourists. Never seen anything like it. The only place we share the road with donkeys.
