Excellent trip for the price. The guide was very friendly and adherent to the guidelines set by the website. They communicated with us before the trip and let us know what to expect. The horses were majestic and beautifully groomed. They were gentle giants with the temperament of a loving pet. Second to none was the setting of low rising mountains in the distance like something out of a Wild West movie. The trail itself was small rocky paths carved through the shade of ancient pine trees. Between the whistling of the wind and the singing of the birds we enjoyed the peace only found in nature. If you’re looking for a relaxing slow paced stroll through a secluded forest this would be the ride for you. The 90 minute ride was great and offered us a chance to take in plenty of the scenery.

I went on a 2 hour ride with Jackie the wrangler. The ride was absolutely breathtaking! The horses were well-trained and responsive. They appeared healthy and happy. Jackie made the ride an incredible experience. She was always in tune with both the rider and the horse, and she was friendly and knowledgeable! All of my questions were answered ahead of time by Robert who was extremely helpful, and was very courteous.Happy Trails!🤠

I booked with AZ High Mountain Trail Rides for a birthday present for my mom and we all loved it! Sydney our guide was amazing and knew so much about our horses and the Mormon Lake area. I hope to do it again someday!

We pulled up without a reservation, and AZ High Mountain Trail Rides fit us in right then and there. I would definitely recommend reserving ahead of time, but it was so nice to feel so well taken care of. My kids would have been sorely disappointed if we couldn't ride. The forest trail was right across the street, and it had lovely greenery and a little bit of water in the stream. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and helped my kids feel at ease. Plus, she took pictures. Would definitely recommend!

My favorite place to ride horses. Great horses and great wranglers! Very knowledgeable about the area, which includes Navajo Springs, the old railroad berm and a section of the Arizona Trail — beautiful scenery. I felt very comfortable and had a great ride!

We had a great time. Our guide was a very nice young man. He pointed out some of the different types of foliage that is growing up north, told jokes and gave us info about the horses we were riding.

What a fun experience for my husband & I! Our horses were sweet and gentle, the trail guide friendly & knowledgeable, and the trail we did was beautiful (90 minute Navajo Springs ride). This is a great way to experience the Mormon Lake area!

Very glad we chose this company. Cameron was our guide and was great. A really nice 2 hour ride through forest and pines. Cameron shared lots of knowledge with us along the way. Would do again for sure🙂🙂

Hailey was a wonderful guide, the horses were nice, the scenery beautiful. The trail wasn't too easy, just right for somewhat experienced city slickers like me and my kids.

What a wonderful day! My grandson (15) had never ridden a horse so we surprised him. He's a good-sized football player so he got to ride Fiona. He talked about Fiona and the ride for the rest of the day. I attribute all of this to the wonderful wranglers. Sidney took us out on the 60-minute ride, and she made us all feel so relaxed, like we did this every week. Robert and Cameron are equally awesome. The horses were healthy and sure footed and we will definitely be repeat customers. The grandson wants a horse now and cannot wait to learn to 'go faster'. I planned a camp up at Double Springs for a group of 20 people. AZ High Mountain Trail Rides was asked to do an hour ride for two groups of teenagers plus adults. They were amazing. We had a batch of novice riders that had never been on horses and our wranglers Robert and Mason were awesome. They loaded, reassured, entertained, and shepherded our groups on a real adventure. We have heard over and over how much our campers loved the ride. The girls have been begging to do it again next year. AZ High Mountain was extremely professional and were very in tune with our riders needs. I would highly recommend them and thank them for helping me to give my campers "THE BEST DAY EVER!".

We had a great and memorable experience with AZ High Mountain. Our drive to and from was beautiful lots of tees a big lake. Our guide was excellent! I believe his name was Matthew (my apologies if I got it wrong. I am bad with names), Very friendly and experienced. We road Blondie, Willow and Sugar (a mustang rescue). It was a very delightful trail through the green forest. Cool breeze flowing, no bugs or mosquitoes buzzing around. Our ride was cut short due to weather, which we got to say that they turned us around at exactly the perfect time or we would have gotten caught in the rain and we would have been drenched.. We would have returned the next morning, but we had to head out too early to be able to go back again. We will definitely stop by again next time we are in town. the staff here was super friendly and personable. cameron was a great guide, very entertaining and knowledgeable. we really enjoyed learning about the history of the area. if we are ever back in the area we will be riding again! would highly recommend.

My daughter and I had booked a 11:30am trail ride but had some car troubles on the way up from Phoenix. We called the stable and they happily rebooked us for a 1:30 ride. When we finally made it up, the team at AZ High Mountain Trail Rides was so welcoming and glad that we were able to make it. Mason was our guide through the beautiful surrounding forest and he was amazing and so much fun to talk to. He gave us lots of fun info about the area and made the ride really chill, which we needed! The horses were so sweet, the whole experience was great! We would highly recommend AZ High Mountain Trail Rides and will definitely be back.

We took a 2 hour ride with Robert. He was friendly, knowledgeable and just over all amazing. His wife checked us in and she equally as nice and fun to talk to. Cisco, was the horse I rode and Daisey was the horse my daughter rode a d both were very well trained and well mannered. Thank you Robert for the great ride and we will be back again.

We spent the weekend in wonderful Mormon Lake and took the kids on the 60 minute ride. Robert was an excellent guide, the horses were great, and the scenery was outstanding. Highly recommend. This is well worth the short and scenic 30 min drive from Flagstaff.

My sister and I had so much fun riding with our Wrangler Roger. We took the 90 minute trail ride. So relaxing and beautiful riding through the forest. AZ High Mountain Trail Rides is professional run and the horses are will cared for and very loved. Such a great experience!! We'll be back with friends!

Our trail guides were so great. They really made it fun and easy as a beginner. The horses were so friendly and gentle. It truly was great fun for the whole family. The trail was beautiful. My family and I took a quick vacation to Arizona. I have a six year old that loves animals and had never been on a horse, so we surprised her with a trail ride. It was a fantastic experience. Our daughter was pretty nervous, but Robert, our wrangler, was super friendly and did all the right things to get her comfortable on her horse. The only problem I have now is that she wants to go riding again! I would definitely recommend these folks.

Had an excellent time at High Mountain Trail Rides!!! It’s a great way to see the northern Arizona wilderness without having to trek on foot for miles!!! They have many different length rides to choose from, so you can pick the ride for the duration that you want!!! I chose to do the hour and a half trail ride, because it was the best price. Fair warning, most of the riders have to ground mount, but they do have a mounting block for those that are riding on the draft horses, or for those who are older and may not be able to mount from the ground. The trail rides are walk only, as the trail is too rocky to ride any other gait on. It is incredibly scenic and the view changes throughout the ride!!! The horses know the way for the most part, but sometimes you have to tell them where to go, or when to slow down or speed up. And you can move out of line a bit where the path gets wider. The guide did an excellent job making sure everyone was good periodically throughout the ride. I was highly impressed when, at the start of our ride, one of the draft horses did not want to walk forward and onto the trail. The guide quickly called back for them to bring another horse for the rider, and the rider switched horses. I was thoroughly expecting them to just take the other horse back to the barn (the easy thing to do, but bad training), and they didn’t!!! The guide brought the horse out onto the trail with us, and made him walk the whole way!!! Some horses will misbehave to get out of working, and I’m really glad that they didn’t let that happen!!! It shows that the barn takes things seriously, and furthers my trust in both them, and their horses!!! 100% would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a quiet and relaxing ride through the northern Arizona wilderness!!!

Absolutely loved every minute of this trail ride! Our guide was Roger and he was delightful and very knowledgeable about the trail. The trails are hilly and rocky but the horses were sure footed (meaning they walk well on rocky ground). The horses were in beautiful condition and obviously well loved and cared for. The ride is walk only due to the rocky terrain but that allows the riders to sit back and enjoy the beautiful coconino national forest. The ride was suitable for beginners but offers enough of a challenge that you never get bored on the ride! The customer service is wonderful and TroyScott (owner/manager) is attentive and friendly. I definitely recommend this trail riding location is you are in the greater Flagstaff, AZ area!!
