Lees is the gateway to the Grand Canyon's magnificence! The cold, clear Colorado River curves around towering cliffs painted in gold. As an Arizona native I'm still taken aback by the beauty our state has to offer. Taking a boat down the clear river with breathtaking scenery at every turn made is almost impossible to fish. The brown and rainbow trout are heavy, healthy fighters, making it one of my favorite fishing locations. The size of the gigantic canyon walls makes everything feel so small. I recommend binoculars or powerful zoom to really take in the sights.

Great place for lots of activities. Campgrounds nearby, hiking trails, and THE river! River trail is easy 2 miles. Spencer trail is hard 4 miles 1500’ climb. To kayak, you can use a backhaul service (around $80/person). Start at Petroglyph beach/Horseshoe bend and paddle 10 miles down (5-7 hrs). Lots of sections where the water flow is calm, you need to paddle to move. No permit needed in this section

This is the place many Grand Canyon river adventures start. There is an interpretive trail with information on how this place got its name. The Lonely Dell Ranch provides even more history and evidence of the area's past. There are a few other trails we haven't hiked. Beautiful views.Edited to add: $30 for admission unless you have an annual or lifetime National Parks pass. Those cover this area. There is a self-serve kiosk when you enter with a machine that takes credit cards.

My wife and I visited here on a weekend in March and had a great experience. There were a couple hiking trail options, we chose the Spencer Tail and while it was a strenuous hour and a half up a steep mountain side, the views at the top were spectacular and well worth the soreness the next day. There was also an easier walk along the river. There is old ruins from Lee's time spent there with information plaques to learn the about the history. Around the corner is Lonely Dell Ranch where you can learn more and there's even an active orchard there where you can pick fruit for yourself. There's plumbed bathrooms, a fresh water drinking spigot, and 14 day parking for those doing any multi day hikes or river runs.Parking (at least in March) was plentiful and allowed space for many big rigs or trucks pulling trailers.Overall this was a very nice experience and I can easily recommend it!

If you are ever in Page I would definitely add Lee's Ferry to your itinerary and the trip to get there is as interesting as the destination. You will be driving through some of the most interesting landscapes in the country with huge vistas full of color. Navajo Bridge is a great pit stop on the way there where you can get out and get a unique view of the Colorado from above. Lee's Ferry being the entrance to the Grand Canyon gives you very rare and easy access for the public to get right up to and on the Colorado river. You can even take your personal boat or kayak upstream where the waters are mild but most of the people at the launch are going downstream with the white water rafting tours that can take then on trips that can last up to several weeks. We brought our little 8hp dinghy and went upstream for a few hours, would have spent the whole day but a big storm was heading our way. On the journey you will pass an occasional kayaker floating down from the dam where they were dropped in earlier in the day through a tour operation. There are lots of interesting bends in the river including the famous Horseshoe Bend and even a stop to check out some petroglyphs. We are definitely going to be going back for a longer day on the river in the future.

Stayed at the campground one night. It's not bad. There are flush toilets but for heavens sake don't #2. They have no flushing power.Hiked Cathedral Wash. It was amazing. I highly recommend it.Kayaked the Colorado River through Kayak the Colorado. It was breathtaking. We spent all day on the river.

It's easy to visit the Grand Canyon as it's one of the wonders but if you want to drive into the canyon with very few annoying tourists around then a drive to Lees Ferry is well worth it.

Very cool location and lots to see. The camping location is right by the Colorado River. What even cooler is you get a front row seat to watch the Paria River and Colorado River clash together. There isn't a Ferry though. That stopped running in the mid 1900's.But you can walk around the old home of the family that started the Ferry. So much to see here and so little time.Bring your fishing gear, kayaks, boats, hiking gear, or historic enthusiasts. There is something for everyone

A great place to visit from the car, or a great way to access the Colorado River. This is where the commercial rafting trips go downstream into the grand canyon. And, people can also go upriver towards Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam. There are services for those activities through different companies.Lee's Ferry is a park service area and besides the boat launching and spectacular scenery, there is a campground, nice little beach, as well as a walking historical tour of how Lee's Ferry came to be.It is 30 dollars per car to get here. But its worth it for the 30 minute drivers who come and go, those who want to spend 1-2 hours, half day, or for the multi day outdoor enthusiasts who will hike, camp, and boat in the area. Great little spot.

Entrance: park kioskWe have an annual park pass, so we just display it in the window.Beautiful sights in our drive in. Went about 2pm. Colors are incredible. We didn't know what to expect and we are glad we stopped. There are bathrooms on site, a few paved parking lots and a nice RV campground. You can hike and fish here too. Area has lots to offer for various hiking skill levels.

Stopped by at the river access on a 105 degree day and the water was super cold but you get use to it and it feels great. Shallow and deep spots to play in and the view of the vermillion cliffs next to the rushing Colorado River is a sight to see. You can also see other wildlife like Birds, Lizards, and Fish around. Was pretty quiet when we went and not a lot of people.

A bit off the beaten path which is how we like it. Some beautiful scenery, nice hiking, and nice little campground overlooking the Colorado River. We had planned to stay 3 days ended up staying 5. Such a relaxing environment and weather was great when we visited in February.Update: there are so many amazing places to visit, we don't go back to too many multiple times but Lee's Ferry is just amazing. At the foot of the Vermillion cliffs with the Colorado River running below the bluff the campground is on it's just breathtaking and so relaxing. More people are here at the end of April but everyone is quiet and courteous. Definitely one of my top campgrounds in our 5 years on the road.

Excellent service and friendly staff!! Very easy to drive into, the back haul boat was waiting for us with our kayak. The gentlemen were very helpful and informative, and available should you need additional haul back to the dock from up river. We had a blast enjoying the serene Colorado river, all by ourselves. We floated down river for about 5 hrs with our cooler of snacks and drinks. Incredible experience 11/10 recommend!!!

Beautiful spot in Marble Canyon on the Colorado River. The water was crystal clear and the views were incredible. There is a camping site (first come-first served basis) and a few hikes that we will plan on visiting next time. There is a busy multi use launch ramp, mainly used by commercial guide services. We booked a paddle boarding trip through Kayak the Colorado and it was spectacular. Although the ramp is busy, there is little to no boat traffic on the river. At times, we didn't see anyone for 30+ minutes. Lees Ferry is within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and does require a National Park permit. You can purchase one upon entry.

Hiked some of the River trail and some of Spencer Trail. River is pretty to moderate for most people, would be good for families, kids, anyone. Spencer trail is a little more intense but I didn’t go far so I’m not sure how tough it gets. Not for those with fear of heights. At Lees Ferry you get to see where the Colorado river has the green/blue algae water and the confluence with the chocolate milk water. It’s pretty incredible to see because they don’t really mix, they just flow side by side. This is where a lot of boat tours and kayaks/canoes launch. I’m sure you could swim on less busy days or in areas along the bank.

$30 to get in. Has some great historic remains from when a ferry ran back and forth on the Colorado river some old structures, machinery, and an historic ranch with an orchard, cabins, ranch house, cellar and more! Super cute and interesting. You can hike up the cliff side, along the river, into a wash and more. Has a few Sandy beach areas that the kids can play in. It was rather hot in April so just be prepared with water.
