We have gone horseback riding at Porter Mountain Stables several times and it's been great everytime! They allow children 6 or older to ride as well. My daughter who is 7 loved it! We had a great guide and everyone there is very friendly. For my daughter and I to go on a 1 hour trail ride it was $130+tip. They have waters for sale for $1 if you don't bring your own.

My husband and I had a great experience. We road Si and Oreo for the 1hr tour. Our guide was a little lady on a white horse (sorry I don't remember her name), but she was great. The ride was peaceful, and the scenery was beautiful. We would definitely come back.

Beautiful horses and beautiful land. Kyler our wrangler was hands down the best of best. He was so knowledgeable. We will definitely be back 😀 God bless these men and women who own and operate this stable. I highly recommend them for horseback riding

Everyone enjoyed the ride - beautiful route and about an hour - everyone agreed that much longer and the saddle soreness would have been an issue. Great experience.A more comfortable waiting area setup would have been appreciated but I understand that's not the focus.The employees were really polite and friendly.

We had scheduled a 2 hour ride but when we arrived was told we could only do a hour. I'm experienced rider and have my own horses. They had me mount this horse. Right away she started bucking. I was able to calm.her down and get off without being bucked off. She was hurt on her back end. It was disappointing. Our young cowboy was the best part of the ride.

What a fantastic experience! We had so much fun. We did the hour ride and the guide came back the long way and stretched it out a little. He was fun, informative and personable. The horses knew the trail but still allowed the rider to guide them. The trail took us to some beautiful back country. This is the highlight of our trip to Pinetop. And we'll be back. Don't miss it!

i called to make a reservation and unfortunately we could ride because of the mud. however they were so kind and still invited us up to the ranch and let us meet their horses and pet them! they even gave us carrots to feed them all! it was a truly magical experience and my husband and i could not be more grateful! thank you for creating this magical experience and treating us as guests!

My kiddo and I took a one hour guided ride through the wooded trails. We crossed over creek areas, past the reservoir, saw great heron and other wild birds. I hadn't ridden in years and my daughter never had. The staff was patient, chose gentle, easy mounts and led my daughter since she was nervous. Our guide, Porter, was very friendly and put us both at ease. Great time!

I went for a sunset ride and it was so much fun and beautiful that I decided to do another 1 hour ride the next day. The two wranglers (Aaron and Jeff) are fun, professionals and gentlemen. The trail is gorgeous. I highly recommend

We took our big group of foreign exchange students, 15 people in total. We called ahead to book and the staff was very accommodating. I wasn't sure if they would have enough horses or wranglers but they did! For most of us it was our first time riding and it was such a beautiful ride. I would say the only thing that was a bummer was they put two random girls with our large group and unfortunately they were not too kind to us and were complaining about our large group the entire time. The other bummer is I was hoping for more interaction from our wranglers for example informing us about the trials, creeks or the reservoir. I think one of them may have been new so she was very quiet the whole ride. These kids come from other countries far away to learn about our great state Arizona and it would have been nice if they got a little bit of a lesson on the area.The horses were lovely! The trail was beautiful! The price was affordable! The staff was nice!

We had such an amazing time...so good that we came 2 days in a row! The staff was amazing and we absolutely loved our TWO experiences here! My youngest is in love with one older horse and has asked every day now if we can go see Snowball, and that she misses him very much. She said he made her feel calm, and that was after she cried for 30 minutes from being afraid to get on him and ride! All 3 of my kids loved it and I'm sure we will be back! Whether you have ridden before or not ridden at all, they make it very easy to have a great experience! ❤

I cannot rave enough about this place! The lady in the front desk and the wranglers were all so friendly and helpful. I took my daughter on a two hour ride and we absolutely loved it. Our wrangler/lead rider (not sure on his title), Matthew (I think was his name), was so friendly and chatted with us the entire time. We got to learn about the area and the horses we had. My daughter, who is seven, had a sweet and well-trained horse named Ándale. I had a horse named Sai (sp?), And my daughter's grandma had a horse named Oreo. We had a few other girls with us and we all got along splendidly. The horses were all pretty well trained and didn't need much guidance to follow the trail in single file line. The wranglers help you and you definitely will not need previous experience for this ride.My only warning to those looking at the two hour ride is if you are inexperienced, you will likely have a sore rear end for a few days after. Nothing against Porter Stables. Just an inexperienced rider dilemma. The advice Matthew gave me was to put some weight on your feet in the stirrups instead of completely sitting all your weight in the saddle. Hope this helps.Altogether, we had a joyous time and I hope to go back if we are ever back in town! Very much worth the price.

Great time.Went with family for a birthday ride. I got Oreo . Who apparently didn't care for muddy hoofs. 😆Highly recommend going for a guided ride. 18 and under get a helmet, all the horses are well behaved and easy to ride.Took about an hour and half but the memories will last a lifetime.

We took the 2 hour, 8:00 ride out to the "ice cave," a lava tube that blows cold air. The ride goes through a stream (you won't get wet) and last a reservoir. The guides are friendly and helpful, and this is a great place to try horseback riding for beginners. We'll be back next time we go to the Show Low area.

Fabulous family owned Stables.. Our guide was very engaged in our ride and knowledge .. The ride itself takes you a long Scott’s Reservoir and over several creeks. It was beautiful..

First time riding with our 8 year old son. He absolutely loved it. He said it's his favorite part of the trip. Our wrangler Andy did a great job. We took the 1 hour ride because we didn't know what to expect, will do the 2 hour from now on. This will be a regular on our trips to Pinetop.

Took our kids for a spring break ride (2hr) today. Had a great experience and will definitely be back!!! Horses know their trails, even if mom's horse was a little more independent and wanted to do his own thing, he brought some spice with him to the ride 😉 and we got to see the ice cave similar to the lava tube in Flagstaff. Thanks to our guide and Porter mountain stables!

We had so much fun on our 1 hour ride! 5 mins into it, our 6 and 8 year old asked about doing it again next time we were in town. Everyone that works there was personable and we're great with the kids. We have a cabin so we will definitely be back.
