If I could give 20 stars, I would! Darlene is knowledgeable, caring, kind and wonderful! Our dog had a great 2 nights there. And when we brought her back for day care 2 days later, her tail was wagging like crazy and she couldn’t wait to go back in! Absolutely recommend!! Pics we got were appreciated, too!!

Top notch, caring, safe, clean, professional, and responsive are just a few words that come to my mind when I think of our experience with Happy Horse and Dog. Darlene and Steve took amazing care of our high energy border collie while we enjoyed the Grand Canyon. Our dog "Bormio" expressed a little concern when we dropped her off but Darlene was so calm and clearly knew how to handle our dog - or any dog for that matter. Bormio very soon became comfortable and it was clear to us that she has a great time and was treated very well. The communication was also fantastic, when we first inquired about boarding we sent some questions and got a response promptly. During Bormio's visit, we were sent pictures and updates via text. I would absolutely recommend Darlene and Steve to anyone who needs daycare or boarding while traveling or on a regular basis for locals. I can't wait to use Happy Horse and Dog again!

This was my first time boarding my pup and I did not regret it one bit! Very glad I brought him to this resort. Darlene and her husband were very professional and made the whole process of boarding my dog easy. She even sent me pictures of him while I was out in Zion, which gave me a peace of mind. When picking up my dog, he did not want to leave and started crying when Darlene and her husband started walking away. This just shows how much they care for these creatures and I will be definitely coming back to them in the future. Highly recommened to anyone visiting Zion and other parks as almost no places allow dogs to be in them. Thank you both so much for taking great care of my pup!

My husband and I boarded our 3 Aussies for the day while we took a canyoneering tour. It’s tough for us to leave our dogs anywhere even for the day (not only because we’re very attached but also because they’re a bit wild!) but we were so happy we found this amazing facility! Darlene and Steve were so wonderful with our crew and their facility is awesome! Our pups were happy and worn out when we picked them up!

We boarded our three dogs with Darlene. Once we got to know Darlene and saw her resort, we knew our dogs would be in good hands. The peace of mind it gave us was so valuable. Darlene took amazing care of our dog Carrot for 4 days while we hiked Paria Canyon. She was flexible with timing and lovely to chat with. Highly recommend having Darlene look after your fur pals at her pet resort!

In 30 years with many rescue dogs, I have never needed to board any of them until this month. I liked what I read on the Happy Horse & Dog website, made a time to meet Darlene & see her pet resort, & drove away with Buck knowing that this was a really good place to leave him for five days. I so appreciated Darlene's sweet attention to Buck, to the details she gathered about his routine, likes, dislikes, temperament, etc., & I was very impressed with his upcoming accommodations. When my husband & I picked him up after our trip, he greeted us eagerly & then returned to Darlene with enthusiasm for another hug & a treat. This, in & of itself, was indicative of the treatment & love that he received. I highly recommend Happy Horse & Dog, & will return another time. Thank you so much to Darlene & Steve for the exceptional experience.

I finally found the right place for my 14 year old pit bull! He is happy when I drop him off and happy when I pick him up. Both Darlene and Steve work hard to keep him safe and content. Darlene is very knowledgeable about his physicality and has advised me on different issues. We are so fortunate to have them in the Kanab area!

Darlene was great! We boarded our 4 huskies for 2 nights with Darlene while we went to Zion and Moab. Our pups are a lot and usually aren’t boarded because they have so much energy and are pack dogs. When we came to pick them up they had clearly been playing and had lots of attention. It was great to see them worn out. Darlene was great at communicating and even gave some helpful tips on nail trimming (which we have an issue with). I highly recommend boarding your pup here. She is experienced and your pup will get the attention they need, which is rare I feel with places now a days.

We were thrilled to find Happy Horse & Dog Ranch. We scheduled 2 days of day care for our pup while we visited the National Parks near Kanab. Darlene provided a clean, safe and loving place for our dog, allowing us to enjoy the 2 days with ease of mind. Darlene is flexible to work with and we appreciated her 7am to 7pm hours.

We wanted to visit some National Parks and needed to find boarding for our dog. So happy we found Happy Horse! Our dog had a great time and we enjoyed the many videos that were sent while she was boarding. The location is perfectly situated just over the Arizona border. Darlene and her husband are sweet and genuine people that you can trust with your dogs with. Definitely recommend if you are in the area and need these kinds services!

One word: AMAZING!!Booked last minute with Darlene since we were able to get early shuttle tickets and thankfully she had room for our puppy. Darlene made me feel like our pup was in great hands. We had a last minute change of plans and Darlene was very responsive. When it came time to pick our puppy up, she didn’t want to leave! She had bonded with Darlene in such a short amount of time. It was amazing! We also appreciated that our pup got to socialize with other dogs at the hotel which was great!Cannot say enough great things about Darlene. She is kind, professional, and clearly an expert at what she does. Thank you so much, Darlene! 💚

Wow!! Fantastic place!! Darlene actually was standing at the corner waiting for us. The parking for our trailer is literally outside the gate. Super easy. Darlene and her husband... 5 star people! She cleaned my trailer... what? So cool. Had a large round pen and another pen open for our 3 horses. 9 hour trailer ride from south of Tucson, AZ ... the horses were happy to have the space to move around, have very clean water and had their evening meal. She even offered to feed them in the morning! If we come through here again, we’ll stay ONLY HERE. Warm, welcoming and so friendly! Easy 5 stars!!

Awesome for kids! We did a farm tour with my 8 year old daughter, 3 year old son and a baby. Was a great outdoor activity for the kids. Variety of animals for them to interact with and feed. My daughter loved riding a horse named Joy around the enclosure. Then even my son got up on the horse! He kept chanting happy happy happy. Wonderful experience! Very affordable and super convenient location in Kanab. Darleen and her husband were very welcoming and I'd highly recommend for families with young children.

Fabulous experience for our three pups! Darlene and Steve are truly the kindest people. We called last minute and they catered to our needs to allow us to do some canyoneering that we could not do with our pups. Kennels are clean, warm and they set up our three dogs to be together, which we wanted. They have indoor/outdoor space, along with large outdoor play kennels. They were all walked as well. Darlene sent us pictures of their day together, which was great to see as well. We will definitely use them every time we're in the area. They also have a wonderful casita to rent if you need a place to stay as well.Great people, great location and great love for the fur babies!! Thank you Steve and Darlene!!

I would recommend Darlene to any of my friends and family! She is so sweet and loved our dogs like her own! She runs an air b n b also so if you're looking for a quiet place to stay and a day camp to leave your fur babies at while you're out hiking, I would highly recommend Darlene's Place!

We planned our trip to Zion NP and our fur babies needed a place to stay while we were out and about. Darlene and her husband are very sweet and were wonderful with our babies, Cici and Chewy. She kept me informed of how their day was going and was very easy to work with. I could tell they had a wonderful experience. Thank you 😊

They were able to board our two corgis at the last minute after we obtained permits to hike Angel’s Landing and our pups had a great stay!I have never boarded my corgis before and frankly, I’ve always been terrified to do so but they had good reviews and when we called they had a space and talked through the setup so we felt as comfortable as we could be being away from the pups.When we got there we talked through everything with Steve and got to see the kennels. He assured me they would be in good hands and that he’d get some photos sent during the day.One corgi seemed extra nervous and Steve said he’d keep an eye on him. By pick up time they were having a great time and barely even cared that we were back to get them!They were quick to respond, very accommodating and most importantly put us at ease. The kennels were clean, had ample water and shade (or some have indoor space).If we are ever in the area again we would for sure use them!

My 2 young geldings spent a night in Dec 2018. Darlene was so accommodating and went above and beyond the other facilities I used along my trip. She cleaned out my horse trailer upon arrival and texted pictures of my horses while I was in the motel that night. My geldings were quite content when I picked them up the next morning. I would not hesitate to use her boarding facility again. She offers horse tours of the slot canyons too and I hope to join her in the near future!

I, like many others, did not realize Zion did not allow pets on trails. She was so amazing to get my pups in at the last minute. I was 100% confident they were in good hands even though it was my (and their) first time being boarded.

I’m absolutely disgusted. The owner charged me for an additional fee because I planned to bring my dog and I asked what the fee covered. She described what it covered, which I appreciated but then she said this isn’t going to work because she doesn’t want a bad review (I hadn’t even had a chance to respond yet) and canceled my reservation a day before I’m headed on my trip. The owner seems really fishy, I didn’t stay at the place so I can’t give a review for that but I would steer clear of this place. And if I could give zero stars, I would.

Keep your horses with HHH and you'll be worry free. Darlene takes care of feeding, cleaning pens, and putting on blankets. Water troughs are clean and pens are large enough for horses to move around freely. We'd definitely keep our horses here again. Convenient to downtown Kanab and area trails.

Darlene was amazing with the kids and teaching them basics about horseback riding, dog training and other farm animals. She was super knowledgeable to the whole group and made us feel welcomed.
