I've stayed here so many times for many different reasons, as I used to live in Kanab. The previous owner was the best and couldn't do enough to be accommodating. He even let me stay there with 6 cats (no pet fee) before I got my first paycheck from Best Friends (they too are rip off artists and live by their reputation, don't believe it). However, the new owners and manager, thereof, are typical of almost every motel.and hotel across the country, literally. Make a big deal about pets and charge pet fees, yet don't really do anything to update the bad pipes, dirty floors, and other issues as described in the reviews here. For me, the manager is, somewhat, rude and not accommodating at all, but he has to do what the owners want, I suppose. I believe they were there earlier this year, when they charged me $900 a month and didn't charge a pet fee, unlike this time, so we parted ways. It's quaint, and not fancy, but it's really not worth it, especially if they charge a pet fee. You might as well stay someplace nice if you're going to have to be charged for your pet. Before they accuse your pets for having hair, have they checked under their beds or in the kitchen, under the sink??? There was a smell like a dead rodent I smelled for a month and didn't complain.

I was very pleased with my stay at Grand Canyon Cabins. My room was perfectly clean, everything worked and the service was top notch. My concern was safety as I am a woman traveling alone. It was quite and peaceful and I loved that I was able to park next to my room. Unfortunately the night I arrived a deer hit my car. What a pain! The proprietor, Charlie, went above and beyond to help me. I felt terrible because I had to leave my car on the property much longer than expected. Charlie was so patient and helpful. Great communication and service. Even with the unfortunate event I enjoyed my stay and will return for another.

I'll start with the room. Room 2 smells awful. The room smells like either cat or dog. I'm unsure, but it stinks. I believe the owner lives in the room adjacent to room 2 and I could hear dogs through the wall. It smells bad and should not be rented. We ended buying airfreshners to place in the room. The property itself it cute and close to the parks in the area. If it weren't for the smell I'd give a higher review.

I am travel on a trip to California . I book my rooms each day . I accidentally booked at the wrong location. It wasn’t more than 20 min after I booked the room I called the place immediately. They say they have a 3 day cancellation policy and KEPT MY MONEY! Karma ! What goes around comes around, I hope you enjoy my hard earned money !

The location of this motel was very convenient. Got lucky with a same day booking and a quick 1.5 hour drive to the North Rim the following morning. However, the check in attendant was not really the bright smiling face you wish to see when staying in an unfamiliar area.. We stayed in Room 2 (located beside the home of the property owner I assume). The aroma of this room was almost unbearable. Would have left the door open to air it out however there was an oddly strange amount of flies that were swarming the area next to our room door. Both beds were super comfortable and sheets clean. There was a swarm of gnats hovering next to the air conditioning unit. We checked in a little later and the eating options in the next closest town had closed, so we planned to use the microwave as a meal supplement. The microwave works in 1.5 minute increments and then will shut off for 15-20 minutes so would definitely not plan for that to be an effective way to eat a meal.

Rustic, artsy, and warm. We were very comfortable and felt welcomed. Room was clean & very affordable, included a kitchen/mini fridge, coffee, hot shower, wifi, and the gas heater made us feel nice and toasty. The manager has great advice (Capitol Reef was superb!) and I loved all the cute handwritten notes everywhere. This is a great little find. Would stay longer if I could.

Excellent location! The keeper was so friendly and recommend some location to check out. The room was clean and cozy cute little apartment. Everything was good and I enjoyed the digital tv. Plenty of Choices to chose from. Coffee maker and microwave, desk, Air-conditioning. My stay was nice.

Ancient. Advertised and found on AirBNB as a one room bedroom. Our room was adjacent to the road and very noisy. Exterior doors looked like they could have fallen off their hinges with little effort. Small kitchenette with no plates or utensils. Charged us $20/pet for the one night ($40 total) but didn't tell us that in advance when we asked about their pet policy. Anticipated a cute place to stay. Owners clearly have not invested in it to make it so and we wouldn't recommend it.

Propane leak in washroom, I initially thought it was sewage that would air out. That's when I found all windows painted shut. After asking for three hours I got told that I would have to pay 8$ to have them move me to a different room. Turning off propane not an option. Floor sticky and not clean. Yard smells of urine. Ancient and grossNoteworthy details: Ancient, urine smell, dirty, propane leaks

This charming motel is clean and friendly. The gardens are immaculately tended and a great place to hang out and rest. The rooms have a lot of character with wooden walls: some of the fittings are a bit dated but in our view this just added to the vintage feel. We recommend this motel to visitors who value authenticity and it makes the perfect springboard for a visit to the North Rim.

We stayed in room 2. Our stay here was miserable. Nasty mold in the bathroom. The mattress was filthy. The TV did not work. The ceiling right above the broken TV was sagging from a leaking roof. The room was missing a door knob! This room is connected to the office- we could hear this guy walking around the office. We should have slept in our truck. We didn’t get any sleep anyway. Run don’t walk from this place.

Cute little cabins and got a good price for one night.Beds and pillows were pretty comfortable. Everything was pretty clean except shower needed a little more cleaning(some left over hairs). They have been remodeled with nice materials but looks like a home done job. NOT ever cabin had a kitchen. The shower is tiny and I'm 5'3". Anyone taller than 5'5" wouldn't be comfortable. The hot and cold water are switched and there is funky value to turn it onNo coffee filter and not enough coffee left to make a cup. Also be ready to hear you neighbors and traffic.

Please don’t go this place trust me you will thanks me for save you time and money. The place smells cat’s urine front the moment you open the door, the room very dirt and used beds sheets….., I don’t understand how Expedia still doing business with this place, I wish Expedia can experience a night in here and see if they will keep sending people to this places… thank you.Nearby activities: Nothing here to do. This place is like a stage for horror movies Halloween in real life…

We were on our way to Bryce Canyon when we passed the Grand Canyon Motel. We didn’t want to spend a bunch of time later on looking for a place so we stopped in. It is definitely an older motel, which could lead to some charm. The girl met me at the desk; a room with a king size bed is $55! I asked to look at room and it looked fine. I reserved it. I then started looking at the reviews and started having second thoughts; I will let you read them but I rather tell you the current state. New ownership and management over last three months have started this place to look and feel nice. The new manager is very dedicated to having a very worthy place to stay. The management was very open to suggestions as well. We had a really good night of sleep. And you know what, Teddy Roosevelt stayed on the property when he was staking out the Grand Canyon (probably in tent, the motel wasn’t there then). Give it a go.

Room was dark switch didn’t work front room. Bulbs out in bathroom guy working there said electrician messed it up and had no bulbs. I had two fleas crawling on my leg! Smelled of mold and musty smell. Mattresses are old and stained and comforters were old and ragged looking. Bathroom door by toilet has a gap under door you can hear everything going on in next room and it’s by your toilet so they can hear you. Shower was super dark! Told him all these issues and told him I wanted to cancel and didn’t feel it was healthy to stay with the odor and fleas he told me hotels.com would have to cancel and refund he didn’t know how to do that. He even said yeah it’s not for everyone?? Meaning I guess some people are ok with sleeping in that?? Called hotels.com told them to cancel so I would be subject to one nights charge being I didn’t cancel in free window so they didn’t cancel it and told me to call cabin place they didn’t even have the correct phone number to reach them so I reached out to the guy told him I wanted to solve this and that I didn’t want to leave a bad review I would rather solve this issue and get my $ back was only fair, he was super defensive and said I was threatening him and he would report me??? Definitely wasn’t threatening just trying to resolve this like adults. I had to go and find another hotel at 10pm for myself and 2 children because I didn’t feel it was healthy to stay there. Please DON’T waste your $$ you will be dissatisfied and disgusted. They go by Grand Canyon Cabins and Grand Canyon Hotel or Motel. Stay away!!!!

Checked in fairly easy and went to take a shower noticed that the shower was not clean there was dirt and hairs went and told the guy about it he came looked and took the hairs out and was going to call it good I told him I’d like it actually cleaned and if people where busy I’d be happy to do it myself if they had the cleaning supplies he then told me there was soap and towels in the room to clean with, I told him that wasn’t going to work and I wanted something to actually get it clean after some back and forth he offered to refund the room I of course took the refund and he stated he had to walk through to see about charging cleaning fees, I joined him actually ended up “helping” him find a more dirty areas that where looked over no surprise there where quite a few. The overall state of the buildings and grounds where fine and the only reason there’s 2 stars instead of 1 but as far as customer service and cleanliness goes definitely needs improvement, on the cleanliness part from what I understand the cleaning lady working this day was apparently new and this was her first day however they should have had someone either checking cleanliness or working with herEdit/Update: Friends decided to stay at the place asked them to follow up on my refund was told that I was not going to be getting my refund because it was canceled last minute. Usually I would understand this however the guy running the place is the one who offered to cancel the room and refund me I was told I’d be refunded so how they can change there kind like that in a day is beyond me

Photos looked nice but got here to find the room hadn’t been swept and in the middle of renovations in the bathroom since all the racks were missing. Wanted to cancel but couldn’t due to their policy of three day notice. I said it wasn’t advertising what we walked into since it wasn’t even clean. Feel totally ripped off.

I enjoyed a very peaceful and pleasant stay. The place is rustic but thats part of the charm. Had no problem with noise from neighbors at all. The bed was comfortable and surrounding nature was easy on the soul.

False advertising from this motel. Room advertised air conditioning but it was broken and required use of pliers to turn knobs. Wouldn't turn on even after turning knobs. Persistent water leak from shower, management knew and had a note instructing guests to use shut-off valve to use water. Not disclosed ahead of time. Office reeked of urine or mold. Management refused refund when confronted with these conditions simply starting "the contract says no refunds".Needless to say don't stay here unless you want to be ripped off, and don't trust any of their advertising. Would give 0/5 if possible.

We loved it here, you can't beat the price or location! Lots of restaurant and shopping options just up the street in Kanab. This was our home base to visit the Grand Canyon North Rim, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is close by if you want to stop there for a lunch or a tour. I will mention that it's rustic and there are some bugs in the rooms, but in a nature-y way and not a gross way. 😉

It has to be said. City slickers might not enjoy this place. It's unique and charming and nothing like the chain hotels whatsoever.I stayed at this quaint motel and loved it. Yes, the owners are elderly and the thought did cross my mind that they had bad vision because the carpets were a bit dirty. But my chocolate lab didn't have to use his best manners (he doesn't have too many) or worry about his shedding. I don't recall that they charged a pet fee.In my opinion, i worry more about the cleanliness of the things we're going to touch. In my case, YES they were. Sink, coffee pot, linens, etc.The cute little cabins are gorgeous and probably historical. I'm not one that enjoys cookie cutter motels nor am I a person that enjoys taking my dog and luggage down a long hallway to get to my cookie cutter room. The cabins each have their very own parking spot. I was able to let my dog sit, leashed, on our little stoop while I unpacked. On the other side of the cabins is a GRASS yard with the old fashioned chairs scattered around. In fact. I even left my phone in the cabin and sat outside to enjoy the grass and the view with my dog and talked to other guests. Being from Phoenix with cement all over made me really appreciate that grass!I know I'll be staying there next time I'm headed north.

Very very nice overall. Clean affordable authentic cabins with nice lawn trees and grills. Private parking lot. Super comfy beds. Spacious rooms, Kitchenette. All you need to relax in the countryside. Free wifi. Big TV. Store and gaz station nearby. Big thumb up to Chuck for running the place, always going the extra mile to satisfy every customer’s needs and giving precious advice on the tours and everything you can do nearby.

You can't beat the price. Our room had clean linen, the vibe of the place is not new, older furniture and appliances all are in good working condition. Bring your own soap and shampoo though, shower was better then hundred dollar hotel we stayed the night before. A/C chilled the room well.Bottom line if you don't eat gas station sushi this is not for you.On the other hand if you don't want to sleep in your car and can look past old appearance you won't be disappointed.

What you expect from US$39 per night motel in touristic area: ONLY "Good Sleep" right?!Despite the strong cats smell overwhelming the place [especially the office], this motel have all the amenities including kitchenette with stove. The room and bathroom were decent and reasonably clean. We ended up staying 2 nights here, however advice anyone to SKIP this place IF you are allergic to cats.

"Lobby area" stank of animals and cat pee. Our room has a terrible smoke and animal smell. Ended up sleeping in our sleeping bags on the beds for fear of bugs. The good news was it was dry for our last minute booking since we got rained out of camping. But would recommend paying more for a nicer place if you can. It felt mostly safe tho because it's a small quiet town.

Called ahead and he turned on the AC in our room so it was cool when we entered. these are similar to cabins so they are not a traditional hotel room . Beds were large and conferrable. Even has fresh farm eggs you can get for breakfast if you so choose . Will definitely be back if we are ever in the area .
