The owner of this place is so rude and a stalker. We checked in after going on trail and we were all just sitting around hanging out. She walks up and says “you are all not staying here are you?” and we said no our friends are just getting ready to leave but were just sitting here for a while. We go to our other cabin because we rented 2 and she didn’t put them next to each other. We see they have a playground so our kids go to play. We get ready to start cooking and she comes up mad saying the kids can’t play on the playground and she charges $3500 a night for the area we were in. We’re like so the kids can’t go play and she says anybody who isn’t a paying guest has to leave. She is so money hungry! Everything we did she was watching us. The last time we stayed she didn’t have a bunch of rules and this time we walk in and there’s a 40 page book of rules and bylaws. Basically don’t do anything except sleep or she’s going to try to charge your card without permission. We weren’t loud or anything, simply just trying to spend time with our family. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has cameras in the cabins. Also the cabins are disgusting. There were mice seen twice, cobwebs everywhere. Not worth the money. Just go down the mountain to stay or camp somewhere so you don’t have a crazy lady watching your every move.

We rented this place out for a work retreat, and it was perfect. The owner was extremely accommodating. She set us up in the church/gift shop for our working sessions. The internet connection was great. We had a scavenger hunt through her rustic property, which was perfect. The town bar is right down the road, so you can get some grub and stumble back to your room. There is an area where we set up kareoke. She does wedding venues as well. If you are looking for a rustic getaway, I highly recommend it!

First and foremost, Taryn (the owner) is a wretched human to deal with. Her contempt towards tourists is over-the-top and offputting, to say the least. She was incredibly rude and combative the moment we stepped foot on her property. She treated us like unwelcome trespassers.Second, the cabin we stayed in was dirty and unkept. There were cobwebs everywhere and spiderwebs that indicated that the spiders have had a permanent residency in the cabin for many years. In addition, the cabin handbook suggested that using the kitchen supplies was discouraged, advising guests bring their own disposable plates and utensils...which the guest has to haul out themselves or will accrue an additional charge, upwards of $200. The TV (which is HEAVILY discouraged to use) was covered in dust, was scatched, and had smears of mystery goo on it. We weren't here to watch TV, but it is another example of the lack of cleanliness. This review could turn into a novel if I continued on about the condition of the accommodations.Lastly, the property as a whole is charming and eccentric (be sure you do not touch anything or make a sound while appreciating it or you'll either get scolded or kicked out). It's a beautiful little wonderland of unique creations everywhere you go. I recommend taking a day trip to Crown King, trespass on the property and enjoy it. They treat trespassers just like they treat guests. The only difference is you won't lose any money when you get kicked off the property. It saddens me to leave a review like this. I am an Arizona native and have been visiting CK multiple times a year for over 20yrs. I love this town, I can't say the same about this establishment.

This place is such an amazing wedding venue!!! We recently got married here and had such a wonderful time with all our family and friends staying on the property, it was like our own little town for the weekend. The owner and staff were amazing and helped to make our wedding as perfect as we hoped! We enjoyed spending time chatting with her and getting to know what a great person she is, she is a part of our family now! We can't say thank you enough for helping making our wedding go off so well! The grounds were amazing with all the leaves changing and the ceremony and reception were picture perfect! The cabins were clean and well kept to keep our many days comfortable, it was hard to leave! Thank you Taryn for all your help and can't wait to come up and see you soon! If I could give 10 stars I surely would!

As usual we very much enjoyed our time in Crown King. This was the first time for us staying in Orabelle cabin, It was very clean and quaint. The electric heater kept the cabin toasty warm (mid 30 temps at night), and the kitchen wares are pretty well stocked if you plan on cooking. Taryn is super helpful if you need anything, and an awesome host!

Our family of 4 plus our dog loved staying in this small cabin. It was great to social distance somewhere other than our own home. We are first timers to Crown King, and we love adventure so this was the perfect trip for us! We only stayed one night due to work schedules but we relaxed and the kids loved it! We will definitely be coming back here! The owners are friendly and the cabin was clean!

Absolutely beautiful location. Goes from desert on a 25 mile road to the last two miles of gorgeous pines and trees .Road is drivable but rough. 24-25 miles of dirt washboard road takes 65 mins. But worth it when you get thereATVs seem to like it.My thought is park at the bottom and drive an ATV up

The lobby/check-in grounds are beautiful. In our cabin, the linens and sheets were very clean. However, when I pulled the curtains back to open the windows I revealed cobwebs formed between the curtains and the glass, around the sills, edges, etc. A lot of dusty cobwebs. I killed three spiders and two wasps within the first couple hours of being at the cabin. The kitchen counter had some questionable crunchies on it and the back kitchen door didn’t latch so it would blow open, only the storm door closed properly. The wall mounted AC unit was not keeping up with the afternoon sun hitting the back side of the cabin all afternoon. The second bedroom was the farthest room from the AC and had no windows that opened. We did have a lovely view of our neighbor’s windows and deck from the back bedroom, which was unexpected to say the least. Unfortunately, this room also had the more comfortable mattress in my opinion. Even after turning off the AC and opening up all the windows after dark, it was warm in that second bedroom with no functional windows. My boyfriend slept in the front room to be cool, and I slept in the back room for the more tolerable mattress. Very romantic. When we arrived the television didn’t work, which was expected, but there was a curious sign taped to the bottom of the TV. It stated due to issues with the satellite TV was not available this weekend per management. The owner had previously told us why there was no TV service and why she had removed the remotes from all the cabins, so this sign seemed deceiving. The top of the coffee maker was covered in a dust layer complete with someone else’s fingerprints in it. I was allotted one coffee filter for a two-night stay. It was placed on top of the coffee maker held down by a Tupperware to keep it from blowing onto the floor. I lifted the lid and inside the basket of the coffee maker was more dust and a dead moth. The place is dirty and we didn’t have a good impression of the owner based on our phone conversations, but we were still having a good time. We came to the conclusion that we wouldn’t be returning to these cabins, but there was no reason to leave a bad review. Maybe this place just wasn’t for us.From the yard of our cabin on Sunday morning, we heard yelling in the courtyard and we immediately recognized the voice of the owner. Later in the day some guests shared some details of that conversation and I’ll just say we took the side of the guests vs the side of the owner on that one. The owner decided to have a similarly toned conversation with us later the same day. Long story short; the owner asked us to leave and we did. We were not the only guests who were asked to leave that day. We have zero relation with the other party that was asked to leave. I have never seen guests treated this way, and we saw it happen on two different occasions in one afternoon. Someone called the owner as crazy as a loon in her review and I’m not saying I agree with her, I’m just saying I understand why she might say that.My boyfriend asked me not to leave a negative review because he sensed genuine remorse from the owner when he returned the keys to her. She apologized and even returned our funds. My thought is; I would be greatly disappointed to see anyone else spend their time the way we did, or be treated and spoken about in the way the other guests were. The owner asked us to leave and if she was genuinely remorseful about anything that was said, she could have asked us to stay; an offer we would have gladly accepted.

The drive here was hairy, for sure, but very scenic. Our cabin is rustic, but all the comforts of home. Son's wedding was the purpose of our visit and the owner was instrumental in helping set up and helping at the reception. Update: Okay, so the owner of this place is crazy as a loon! She upped all the prices on all the cabins rented out for my son's wedding. Try a two bedroom cabin for $700 for ONE NIGHT!!! It was listed at $300 a night. She ended up NOT making everything "homemade" as promised and brought in pre-made entrees. The breakfast the next morning was lacking on half the items promised...but still wanted to charge my son full price! I can not in all good conscious recommend this place for a wedding venue. Please, don't even bother as long as that loony bat is still running this place! She has harassed my son and daughter-in-law to death! Even threatened to call my granddaughter's school??? Yes, I saw the texted she sent! Look elsewhere...save yourself and your guest the hard feelings and heartbreak!!!

We had so much fun! We stayed in the Chicken Coop and it was the cutest! Comfy beds, clean and had everything we needed. Slept great! So quiet & peaceful. Our family & friends sat around with other guests around the main bbq sitting area (which is lit up like with the cutest lights) surrounded by gardens & a darling waterfall. Kids had fun with the tree swing, hammocks and tree house. Pet the horses, the pony was just darling. Plenty of room to park the Can Am's for awesome riding. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Just returned from spending 5 wonderful days in CK. The ride up was a true experience, but one you passed over the "enchanted bridge", a beautiful hamlet awaited. Taryn, the owner, was very accommadating and quite a delight chat with. The cabin I stayed in was very clean and well taken care of. This area is so peaceful and relaxing. A quick walk to the general store, Prospector smokehouse and the saloon. Enjoyed exploring the area on my morning walks with my dog, Mason. Everyone is so nice and friendly in CK. Come on up, you won't regret it!! Will definitely be backs, thanks again Taryn for you hospitality.

Amazing place overall. My family and I enjoyed our stay so much, everything about it, the views, the cabins, the welcoming of everyone around. We took an ATV with us and the place is perfect for such adventures, magical snow came in on our last day there. We truly hope to be back soon. Many thanks to our host who made accommodations possible in such short notice.

Great people and a great place is a guarantee to success which is exactly what you would find at the Crown King cabins.Gracious hosts that are all about trying to make your event as successful as possible and put a great deal of thought into it . Taryn and her crew were an integral part of planning our event (family get together for 40 people) and had great ideas and even greater ability to accommodate when needed. The food was amazing (full dinner for 40 people and breakfast) and nothing was spared to ensure that guests with dietary restrictions are provided for. They are responsive, responsible, and their great attitude is infectious!Thank you for creating such a magical event for us - we are forever grateful!

My husband and I had an awesome weekend getaway! The owner was so friendly and very accommodating to my husband and I with being in the military and the restrictions we had during the crazy things going on in the world right now. The cabin was clean and beautiful and the area was so nice. We truly had an amazing time. The service was wonderful!

This place is really a hidden gem. Taryn is amazing. The property is beautiful. She has a vegetable garden, flowers everywhere, peach and apple trees. We bought some of her home-made salsa, pickles, and sauerkraut, which were all awesome. We stayed in the orabelle cabin the first night and loved it so much we stayed a second night in the eagles nest. The place is pet friendly and our dog loved being able to play around in the creek.Everything in the town is walking distance and everyone there is so friendly, it's easy to feel at home. Definitely a nice escape from Phoenix! There's a decent amount of good vegetarian options around town as well!

Crown King is a beautiful place. The cabins and suites were just icing on the cake. The property is beautiful, centrally located, and super comfortable, and the owners were so awesome and accommodating. We had a flat tire and the property owner and her son were so helpful. They took time out to take our tire off and fix it for us so we could get home.

Super friendly. Nice people. Its tucked away in the mountains so use an suv or truck to go there. The young lady that owns the cabins is very willing to tell you all about the place. Great history teacher.Hope to go back next year in the late summer.Thank you for everything

I'm updating my prior review since my latest stay here. The cabin I rented was nice, but when I got up in the morning neither the toilet nor the shower were working. Nobody was around to help out, so after I left I emailed the owner to let her know, and to see if there was a way to maybe get comp'ed somehow (discount for my next stay, partial refund... something) since really that's 90% of the reason I get a cabin. If I just needed a bed, I can bring a tent and cot. Anyhow, no response. She's told me the AirBnB's are killing her business...at $300/night for just me with nothing working, I can see why. I head up to CK at least once a year, and I've had decent experiences here in the past, worthy of four stars, but for the price and lack of maintenance I reluctantly have to knock this down and find somewhere else to stay next time.

Last night we stayed at Bradshaw in the Ranch House. The cabin is so cute and has a great outdoor space. Taryn reserved our cabin, got us checked in, delivered a breakfast basket, checked us out, and was available for any questions we had. So welcoming and kind. Can't wait to come back!

I had a delightful experience at Crown King Cabins! Thank you to Karen and her family for making this such a nice stay for me. I wanted a getaway from the work world and this was the perfect fit -- deep in the Bradshaw Mountains, accessible by a 30-mile dirt road that climbs through spectacular scenery. The cabin I stayed in had a wraparound deck where I was able to spend each evening watching the sun set over the mountains as I drank my tea and read my book. A day trip into Sedona is easy, as well as into Jerome or Prescott. Stargazing at night, because of little artificial lighting, is awe-inspiring and breathtaking. I highly recommend it for introverts, HSPs, and anyone who needs "alone time" to accomplish a great task.Keep in mind that these are cabins, not hotel rooms, so it's more like you're staying at someone's home with all of the sensitive touches that make a home unique. There was a full kitchen in my cabin so I brought what I needed for meals, although there are 2 restaurants within walking distance and a general store with food items.

Had a great time in the Orabelle Cabin for 4 nights/5 days in October. Midweek was quiet, and good fall color. Taryn very helpful in getting the cabin set up, and tips for the Crown King area. Will definitely return!
