My kitten came from here, he was fostered at a friend's where I met him. The process was easy when I got there, even tho reading the reviews I was a little worried. I am glad we got Finn, he's a super neat kitten.

This is an edit of a rant I posted earlier. The VVHS process for seeing their selection of dogs needing a home for adoption led me to adopt from a Facebook post. This is my new little girl, Lucy.

+JMJ...This is a WONDERFUL shelter!! Staff and volunteers are very friendly and have a deep devotion and dedication to the animals housed in the shelter.UPDATE: Saturday, 8 October 2022. Stopped by to make videos. Too early to be allowed into facility. But, very happy to see two dog walker volunteers. These are some compassionate, happy people. Also, peeking into facility, I could see they have a number of carriers and pet bedding for sell. I will return soon to make purchases. Blessings to all animal rescuers.

Almost a month ago we adopted [Charlie] now Lucky. He is fitting in well with our 2 older dogs ,watches over us , the house &yard. Tells us when it is time to get up in morning. He is definitely at home. He likes going for walks with me; but especially likes going for a run with my husband on his scooter as can go fast. Only problem is he does not like large dogs so we have to beware of getting to close to them. He loves people & small dogs . He is a happy addition to our household.

We initially thought this humane society was great and lovely. Until, we came home with our little “healthy” “boy” kitten who we find has a respiratory infection. We got him into the vet and the vet also let us know that his paperwork was so incorrect: He was a month older than they claimed when we adopted him, had the respiratory infection, and, here’s the kicker: our boy kitten was FEMALE! Not only did they completely misgender a kitten that we drove two hours specifically to have a male, but they also sent us with a sick cat. Additionally, the vet papers from Sedona ALSO indicate the cat is MALE and they failed to tell us the spay sutures would need to be taken out by the vet, so that was another unexpected vet visit. While we still love our new pet, we’re wishing we could have adopted him somewhere more reliable and legit.

Everyone met us with a smile including the pup. We named her Cookie. Our little Chi needed a friend and we found her one. Every bit as sweet too. Thank you all!

Still to this day, my family dog was adopted from this shelter and we never got her back. I grieve missing her everyday. All they could do for me is offer to let the adopters have my number but who knows if they actually gave them my number. Somebody that worked at the shelter texted me anonymously from Facebook and tired to tell me momma had cancer and died, because they knew our family. But that was not true. She was adopted as the name MiMi but her real name was momma. It has been years I miss her so much 💔.

Wonderful dogs, puppies, kitty's and even bunnies!!I adopted SAM. I call him Sammie. He is a Whippet mix. He's awesome!! Very well behaved and gentle. He is so much fun too!! I am so happy with him.Adoption was easy and his Rabies shot and exam was included in his adoption fee. They even gave me 2 bags of what he was being fed, so I had plenty to transition his kibble to another.Everyone was very nice too.Great experience!!I am a former volunteer and foster parent from there. Some 7 years ago!! All new staff since then.THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ADOPTS From VVHS, and all those who Volunteer, Foster and Work there too.God Bless all of You.🙏 😊 🐱 🐶

The services I've received here has always been excellent. I adopted my lab-mix from this Cottonwood location, years ago, which was the best experience. And I've had 2 of my other dogs spayed, neutered, microchipped, & given their vaccinations here through the affordable programs they offer. The staff are always friendly and very helpful.

Don’t adopt from here unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars in vet bills to treat medical issues that the employees knew about but failed to mention. We adopted a kitten that had respiratory issues and they said they treated him for already, come to find out later that they did not treat him. Then, we returned to the shelter days later and the other kittens he was with were out being treated for RINGWORM and no one notified us that our kitten may have it as well, which he did, but by then it was too late and it spread not only all over the poor kitten but to US!! Now we not only have to treat the kitten for ringworm but also ourselves!! Multiple vet visits and hundreds of dollars later and he’s starting to get better, but this could have all been avoided if the workers at the humane society weren’t sketchy and secretive about the heath issues of their animals before they are adopted.

We took a new forever fur baby girl "Blaine"home with Harry. She chose him as soon as she smelled him. She ran off the other cats & wouldn't allow them near him. Perfect union.

Recently, I adopted a puppy from the Verde Valley Humane Society. I will say with the upmost guarantee, that I will never ever adopt from them again. We adopted our beloved Bear on January 23rd. We brought her home with a slight cough that we thought nothing of. Two days later we decided it was time to take her to the vet. The vet informed us that Bear has pneumonia. After finding this information, we contacted the humane society in attempts to warn them of the possible infection that could spread to countless other animals. After calling them and being promised the director would be calling us, we waited with no avail. Emma reached out on Facebook asking for a contact from the director of the facility which we had met on adoption day and we were told it was being forwarded to her for further review. This woman had the audacity to contact us at 5 in the morning in regards to this matter. During the 5 AM phone call, she notified us that multiple animals in the facility had recently shown symptoms of kennel cough, however this was never mentioned during the adoption process. On top of this, she felt it was needed to tell us how her veterinarian would have treated her differently and criticize the treatment provided by one of Prescott’s most amazing vets. After watching our animal go through IV medications, steroids, daily pills, and multiple X-rays, she felt it was needed to tell us how she was wrong?!? After searching google, it is founded that this is not the first time in recent days that animals have come home sick. One woman posted how her cat came home with a respiratory issue. After bringing her to the facility and being ensured that the issue has been resolved, she had contracted ringworm which was transferred to her and her husband and costed hundreds in medical bills. Another how their pet came home and was immediately treated for a respiratory illness similar to Bear. The volunteer staff at this facility was absolutely astounding. Some cried when we left with Bear as they had grown such a connection with her. The director of this facility however takes the win in the incompetence and absolute idiocity award. To no avail, she had no care or regard for the safety of these pets. Not only do I hope this post informs the public, but I hope it is found by the proper authorities to take custody of these animals and protect them from this absolutely untrained and unprofessional woman. Please share and don’t be afraid to call and let them know how you feel. She deserves every bit of it.

Not quite sure what to think.I adopted 2 mature cats & was told one had had a stroke & to watch him for ear infections due to his head tilt.About 2 weeks later, I took him to the vet that had neutered him. They told me he hadn't had a stroke as he was fine in July & that his head tilt was from a severe ear infection. They cleaned his ears & gave me drops. After no improvement in 2 wks, I took him to a different vet. They told me he had a bad yeast infection & the medication I'd been given doesn't work for yeast. So far it's cost me over $200 for something I feel the HS should have caught & treated. It's not so much the cost that bothers me, but it's that this poor little guy has been suffering with this for quite a while according to both vets.So my issue is that they clearly knew to tell me to watch for infection, yet they did nothing. His surrender sheet said he'd had a stroke, although 2 vets have told me he has no signs of having had one.Bottom line... I appreciate what they do, but had they taken a minute to actually look at him, the swelling was very evident. This picture was actually their adoption photo & you can see the swelling in his left cheek (right side in pic). The only reason I didn't catch it earlier was that he stayed hidden for the 1st 10 days after I brought him home. I can say that both cats are awesome and this little guy is so sweet & affectionate. They're both great additions to my fur family.

We have a stray cat at our apartment complex here in cottonwood. We've talked to the apartment manager and we were told there was nothing that could be done unless it was rabid. So we decided we were going to catch it and pay the $20 to bring it to the humane society. my girlfriend and my neighbor were successful in catching the cat... And my neighbor brought it to the humane society this morning. She was told they did not believe it wasn't her cat... And they would charge her $53 to drop it off seeing how she was the owner. And then proceeded to tell her if she dropped it off and let it loose outside it would be abandonment and she could be charged. With the feral cat problem we have here in cottonwood this is 100% uncalled for buyer local humane society. Terrible customer service.... And basically calling us a liar saying it's not our cat. Any suggestions on what to do with be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Beautiful grounds and dedicated, excellent volunteers who work very hard w/each animal, caring for them & helping them adapt from their specific situations to be optimally adoptable so they find loving forever homes. This includes a behaviorist and trainer who both work with dogs to help them be more easily "adoptable" and to find homes/people suited to their needs. They truly seem to care about the animals & finding them good homes!😃 💗🐾.
