I like this place alot! The Stihl service center is pretty much the only place in town for small engine services, so you'd better buy a Stihl if you're not mechanically inclined. The gentleman who work there are very knowledgeable and helpful.

The other day, AGAIN, I needed several hard to find items and, of course, this place had them. Fantastic employees - always happy to help me find the weird things I'm looking for. Barely get in the door before one of them trots over and offers to guide me to the aisle and bin where the Robinson screwdriver resides or the tiny fuse, or the old school drain stopper or the next day when I desperately needed a certain odd-sized drill bit. Plus, they are pet-friendly on those hot days when you don't dare leave your dog in the car for more than a minute. There are times when I think I should move to Cottonwood just to be near them.

I prefer to shop local and buy USA products whenever possible, but I’ve now had 3 encounters with one particular employee that are disconcerting. Having just moved to Cottonwood, we were unfamiliar with the store layout and found an employee stocking items in paint supplies area, sipping a beverage and chatting on her phone. We moved so as to make eye-contact and she literally turned away, not saying a word, gesture or acknowledgment. We found a drill, unfortunately at the time the selection we poor but we selected a corded drill. After getting home, we removed it from the box and is was heavy, too heavy for light jobs around the house. Never used it, and we returned it a couple days later, with the receipt. Again, the person at the counter was the same young lady. I presented the receipt, and she noted on the receipt it stated ‘no-refunds’ and this policy wasn’t posted in a visible area where I selected the drill and during check out. I didn’t review the receipt at checkout, however we purchase over $250 of goods. I reiterated it was never used, and it was too heavy for my tasks. Nope, no return, ‘that’s the policy.’ I asked to see the manager, who came to the cashier’s station and after she informed him of my request he asked why I was returning the item. I pulled it hefty drill out of the box and handed it to him… which he fumbled a little as it was heavy to handle. He politely granted my request. This last encounter, again at checkout I was returning a trowel while purchasing other items. I had my receipt, explaining I didn’t use the trowel, putty knives I had worked just fine. She began critically examining the $4.59 trowel, saying ‘it has been used’ and the price label was removed. I reiterated I hadn’t used the trowel, but I did remove the price label anticipating I’d use it… she kept examining the trowel, and I said ‘I told you I didn’t use the trowel, why are you continuing to examine it’ and she curtly sad, ‘it’s our protocol, sir, it’s our protocol to check every item returned.’ Frustrated, I said ‘protocol?’ And she mumble loud enough for me to hear, ‘jeez’ and a big sigh… then she put the item down and completed the transaction, asking if I’d like to have the refund receipt and donate the change balance to a children’s charity. Interesting transition. The folks at Camp Verde ACE knock it out of the park with customer service, so we’ll hit the big box store or travel to the Camp Verde ACE…

Always has what I need and the staff help is always, yes always super helpful.Update 11/6/20Had a horrible customer service issue. Went to return about $12 of plastic irrigation parts left over from a Spring project. I was told they have a 30 return policy. They checked my purchase history to confirmed I bought the parts in April, but they would not refund or even a store credit even after I told them we were part time residents.I am so surprised that they did not make an exception given my circumstances.So good bye Verde Valley Hardware, over $12. Your supervisor made a very bad decision today.

If you want to find helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff, then look no further. I love coming to this ACE Hardware when I need anything they sell. From the time I walk in the door, to the time I get to the item I need, I usually have 2 to 5 staff members say hello and ask me if I need any help. If you say yes, then that staff member will stay with you until you have found everything you need, and are ready to check out. So much better than that big orange box store, you can almost never find anyone to help you there.

Always have your oddball needs. Great service. But I go for the pop corn. Super nice people work there and help you find the right parts and pieces. Never rushed or feel the volture over your shoulder here. Eye appealing through out. So I buy more. I see more.

Rene in plumbing was extremely helpful and he really knows what he is talking about. I go to Ace Hardware for all my repair needs as well as new items. Their customer service and the knowledge of the employees is outstanding. Thank you Ace for being in Cottonwood for us.

This is our favorite 'go to' store for all of our' hardware/household needs! My family has been in the professional painting/carpentry business for a couple of generations now and this is the best place in the Verde Valley. Customer service is great, store is well laid out and they stand behind their products.

I have shopped at this store for over 12 years, preferring to support a local business. I was willing to pay more and have a more limited selection because Ace focused on customer service. When you walked in the door, someone asked what you needed and took you to the right place in the store. They even offered good advice when you needed to make a selection. They even had free popcorn and it was like a modern, but old time country store.They have now reorganized, moved the check out counters behind a group of shelves so they are hard to find for new customers.The old counter area is now filled with odd shelves and bins, with no real purpose and specialty. I have never looked to see what is there.On April 28, 2016 at about 3:00 PM I went there to buy a bath fan, irrigation controller and landscape light clock - about $ 280 worth.No one greeted me and I could not find an associate to help. One was engrossed in a personal conversation and three younger persons literally ran away. I waved my arms and called to them, but they turned their backs and walked away.I left, went to Home Depot where I received the help I had expected at Ace Hardware and got everything I needed. Ace Cottonwood - you have changed your business model and lost your MOJO. I will not go back.

The best customer service in the state. They are willing to help you with any concern, not just hardware. Can't find a part? No problem. Need stuff loaded? Got it. Someone to talk to? Yep. Great people and excellent selection. I love my neighborhood Ace.

Ace Hardware conveniently located with a very large selection of practical items. They even have the shooter rotorcopters; so there's fun stuff too.There's plenty of parking and helpful staff.Recommended.

An excellent place to shop. My first stop for ANY hardware, paint. Tools, gardening supplies and much more. I only vist the big orange store if I absolutely have to. I buy my lumber up in Sedona.

Everybody loves ACE. I like how they cater to the area and it's needs! The Creed ACE is different than here but each store is unique but has all of the materials you need, if not they will get it and I like to buy gifts there too!

I use ace when I need that "hard to find" item, or when I need assistance with finding a solution for a particular DIY project. These guys are more than willing to bend over backwards to help you in any way that they can to get you to leave with a smile as big as the employees in every department.
