What a great stay! Clean, and great service! The rooms are a bit outdated, but everything else is on par with other above average hotels. The town water did taste off and the TV had only a few channels. The pool looked super inviting but we weren’t ready for a swim. Everyone was very polite and definitely wanted to make our stay a great one!Food & drinks: Restaurant on site is great! Large portions and super yummy!

The reason they're not getting a full 5 stars is because of the parking situation when the hotel is full. Remove the shipping container please. And, I wish the restaurant was open more often, longer hours, and that the prices weren't so very high. It's not five start dining. Huge shout out to the people who clean the rooms though, you all are really good at what you do. Thank You!Rooms: Rooms are satisfactory. Staff that cleans rooms are worthy of a raise.

For the area this is a great hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The heat worked well and the bed was comfortable. Location is great for visiting Canyon de Chelly and has quick access to Tsaile which is why I was in town. Definitely plan to grab some bottled water as the water coming out of the tap is questionable looking - not the fault of the hotel, that's just how it is in the area. Having a microwave in the room was especially great since there is not a ton of food options in town. If I'm ever back in the area I would definitely stay here again.

Staff are very friendly and it’s decent. Everything that’s wrong with this place is the owner's or the managers fault. The power went out and the Wi-Fi was never reset so there was no TV. Someone left the water running so they were using heavy equipment in the middle of the early morning. The restaurant food is subpar. For example, the eggs aren’t real they use those liquid eggs. I would go to Denny’s instead. They rented out the restaurant to a private party without telling anybody so we had to go somewhere else anyways. I definitely would not stay here again. I would stay at Thunderbird. At least it’s owned by local people. I don’t know who owns this Holiday Inn but it’s pretty meh.

I’ve stayed at some disappointing hotels, but this is not one of them. The older Holiday Inns (as opposed to the flashy new Holiday Inn Express’) can be hit or miss, and I’ve experienced some truly awful ones, but very pleasantly surprised by this one. Amazing location and beautiful grounds. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were serviceable. Showers a bit janky but get the job done. Food from the restaurant is indeed basic, but well prepared and not unreasonably priced in today’s world.Note: many of the very poor reviews are from the type of person who complains about ambient environmental conditions (i.e. dust, noise, wind, animal life, color of municipal water supplies, etc…) and expects service staff to somehow address these complaints. If you are that type of person, you probably shouldn’t come here, or possibly anywhere. Just stay home.

Stayed 1 night for $95 in January 2024. Staff was very nice, informative and friendly. Room very warm, clean, comfortable. Approximately 15 minute drive to Canyon de Chelly!Food at Garcia’s restaurant is basic, but food is not the reason for our visit. The tap water is yellowish/brown due to iron compounds in the red sandstone that water must filter through to get to the well. We drank bottled water. There is a Basha’s grocery store. Loose dogs were not aggressive & never came near us.

Under renovation, free breakfast cost $23. Beds were fine. Water pressure from the sink faucet was fine, but the shower was a trickle, I mean trickle. I'm short so I could sort of get under it, but if you are tall or big, good luck.

Water control in shower was reversed (Hot was blue and Cold was red). Bathroom had no counters for anything.Hotel was burning trash when we arrived so the air was horrible. Not too many eateries in Chinle. Church's Chicken, Denny's, and a few others were the the food choices here.

If you can get to your room, you'll be ok. A bit dated but no odor and clean. This location is wayyyy far from the beaten path. Unfortunately arrived after dark. No streetlights, very dark, pothole about broke an axle, dust in the air and everywhere, checkin location is the best kept secret in town. The amount of rust in the water makes it undrinkable and toilet bowl is yellowed. Greeted by 2 mongrel dogs loose in the parking lot 10 feet from our car. The free breakfast we paid for wasn't free. You have to take a coupon. My husband got a bill for over 5 dollars after he ate. They claimed it was because it didn't include his beverage, which the only reason he ordered a juice was because the tea water they served him was full of rust. Never again. Go at your own risk. You have been warned.Safety: Felt like the twilight zone.

Avoid this place at all costs. They would not honor the price as shown on Google, the water is brown out of the sink, the staff acted like everything from check-in to bottled water to the constantly running toilet was a personal inconvenience for them. Usually Holiday Inn is much better than this.Rooms: Small but clean. Do not brush your teeth or drink the brown water out of the sink.

A very comfortable, extremely well-maintained Holiday Inn very close to the impressive Canyon de Chelly. My room was extremely comfortable with lots of extra pillows and an excellent bed. My only complaint is that in calling another hotel, I think I was diverted to Expedia, and I think I somehow overpaid for the room: $139 a night for one person seems a bit steep.

5 star place in a 2 star area. Your not going to get a quality place in Chinly, but this place was nicer than expected. Free breakfast is not free. That ticked me off, but food was decent with super being better than breakfast. Service was great, room ok, access was good for us. Watch for loose dogs at night. They hang out looking for leftovers. The have homes and look healthy enough. Just a warning in case your frightened by loose dogs.

They have the most comfortable beds and pillows I’ve EVER slept on. No joke. I wish I had asked what brand they were. Older/outdated hotel in general, but it was clean and very comfortable. We loved that our room had a sliding glass door to the pool inner courtyard area. The only two things would make it better: free breakfast and clear water. Not sure if it’s a town thing, but the sink water was brown. Other than that, I’d recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s very close to the canyon entrance and they have a restaurant onsite.

I gave it two stars because the rooms were clean and standard of other Holiday Inn Express locations we have patronized with comfortable beds and decor that fits the area. What we were blindsided with was all the extra “fees” and charges because of being in the location we were. Even though the reservation was made through the IHG app at a certain price, the property itself added the increased “fees”. They classify themselves as a “resort”, but there is nothing about this property that exemplifies a resort label. The breakfast was no different than other locations and the water was brown and had an off taste. For a label of “resort”, the food faire needs to be distinguishable from other locations and the water needs to be top notch.

The price point for the hotel was slightly above similar hotels, especially when factoring the additional taxes. The breakfast was by far the worst we had in 3 weeks of travelling the States. Raw onion in a slimey/greasy omelette. Yuck. Disinterested and uncommunicative staff didn't help. Beware the uneven floor down the centre of the ground floor in the annex building.

The room was as good as I expected from this chain. When I arrived the whole town was without power. Check in was quick and efficient anyway. Power was back on at 9 pm, too late to get food so I was looking forward to the restaurant for breakfast. When I pay $135 for a room I usually get a continental breakfast included. Not at this hotel. I has the blue corn pancakes, they were dry. $5 for two straps of over cooked thin bacon is outrageousWhen I went to my vehicle I found it surrounded by water deep enough to soak my shoes. Don't park at the outside corner of building 1I may stay here again but I'll drive a mile to Dennys for breakfast

This place was solid. TV remote didn't work, and it's really swampy. Like surrounded by marsh. Tried to walk the dog and we both ended up very muddy. So that part wasn't cool.Breakfast felt a bit overpriced, but it was alright. I just ate eggs and gave my pup the bacon, but we both enjoyed our food.

The staff are LOVELY. The wifi is limited to only being accessible in the lobby area. So, if you dont have great (and I mean STELLAR) cell service, you will not be connecting from your room, and certainly not on wifi. The pool was green, not sure what happened there. 2 friendly stray dogs that dont invade your space, 1 affection seeking male kitty, numerous horses wandering on the property next door. (Staff will coax strays away/out of your way, but no worries, the animals are not hurting anyone.) The nearby canyon views are beautiful. The staff is amazing. They will share stories with you and share folklore... really wonderful stuff. Every single person working there made us feel welcome.

Lovely place, beautiful reception, clean room, quiet. No breakfast, not even coffee. You could purchase breakfast. Since it was a HI, I would have expected just continental breakfast.Noteworthy details: Signs all over saying not responsible for lost or stolen property.

It's not the Ritz, but it's the best option if you're staying in Chinle. It's a quiet location with comfortable rooms. This hotel is super close to the canyon, and their restaurant is pretty good. I've stayed here twice and was satisfied. I'd recommend this hotel.Rooms: Outdated decor. Comfortable beds.Safety: Reasonably safe. No hobos/drunks lurking on the grounds.

Motel on which somebody slapped a Holiday Inn sign out front. I have had better stays at Super 8s. And, I guess, because it has an overpriced restaurant on property, rather than free breakfast, it has three stars and charges accordingly.Just bottom of the barrel in terms of what you would expect from this product. No elevator. Not enough electric outlets, esp near bed (1). Shower head half clogged. Room not pre-heated in the winter, so about 50 degrees when you arrive, and takes hours to come to a livable temperature.Steps from the parking lot to the front door, just to make absolutely sure you have the worst possible time moving in and out with your luggage. But, yeah, feel free to use the cart for your second floor walk up room and over the steps to the parking lot...Wifi, just a mess. Works great unless you actually try to use it; even for something as low bandwidth as opening a simple web page or calculating driving directions. This simply does not correspond to the standards expected of a three-star hotel in the 21st Century in the western world. But they are one of only three in the middle of nowhere, so just shut up and pay.If the brand cares at all about its image, it should yank the flag from this franchisee.

Holiday Inn in Chinle, AZ overall was a great stay. Hotel rooms are extremely clean (as any IHG hotel normally is) and parking is no issue for access to rooms.During my one night stay, I was contacted by the front office at approximately 2:30 am regarding the wash located east of the hotel being flooded with water due to rain which runs level with the parking area. Thankfully they notified me to move my vehicle closer to the front office so it didn’t get any worse. Some other vehicles weren’t as fortunate as they drove lower profile vehicles that couldn’t stay above the water.Overall a great stay and friendly staff with no issues regarding the room.
