I came to this store today to buy a hamster, and the employees were amazing.I’m pregnant and have been not feeling well, and having some issues with my blood pressure. I ended up collapsing and nearly passing out at the register while checking out. Very embarrassing lol but the employees were so nice and concerned, and everyone was helpful. And I really appreciate that.As for the hamster, we got home safe and he’s adorable and has such a big personality and has been exploring his new home :)

This store used to be nice. But almost all the fish tanks were cloudy and algae all over and dead fish in most tasks. What happened? This is awful. Poor animals.

I wanted to return an item just for store credit because I do not have the receipt a friend gave it to me I was not able to do anything with it. Seems like quite a shame especially since Petco could resell it it's never been open and it's not expired

This location is just fine, though the layout is a little odd and they seem understaffed. (There was only one cashier on a busy Saturday afternoon.) That said, the staff they do have is friendly and helpful.There is plenty of parking and the store has a lot of variety.The prices are reasonable with a lot of sale items.

This store has to be the most awful pet store I’ve been to. Even PetSmart takes better care of their animals. Immediately upon walking in, there’s stains all along the carpet. There is definitely not enough adequate space for the hamsters as they are overcrowded. The worst of it all: the aquatics section. Don’t you guys have someone to take care of your animals??? What kind of lazy management lets their animals live like this? (Attached pictures below). Excessive algae growth which indicates a lack of care and maintenance within the tanks which could easily be fixed if given time and attention. Oh and where they keep the supplies? Absolutely disgusting as well. Dead fish sitting in cloudy water on a counter??? If they can’t keep their own stations clean, why should they be allowed to keep live animals? At the end of the day, it all falls on poor management. The only reason I gave a star at all is because of grooming, Melissa is absolutely wonderful and so was Christina who rung me up.

Horrible experience with the grooming department and manager of the Chandler AZ store 2148. I took my dog in for grooming, he has gone many, many times to be bathed and most importantly shaved. I booked an appointment on-line as I normally do. I was asked by the groomers to book an early morning appointment or last appointment of the day because he doesn’t like the kennel. When I arrived I was told that there was notes that he doesn’t like the kennel and he should do an express grooming durning the week and there may be a possibility that he will only get a bath. I recieved a call that they would be not be able to shave him because he was not liking the kennel. I was told the bath was $60.00. I said that’s ridiculous because I could give him a bath in the shower which is what I normally do. The only reason I take him to PetCo is to get him shaved down and they require to give him a bath first. The manager told me that the groomer did an excellent job of explaining the issue and there was nothing she could do. I said if he was only eligible for an express grooming then why could I book the appointment on-line. She informed me that she has fixed the system and moving forward I will have to call in to book him an appointment. I said that’s great but how are we going to resolve todays issue. Her solution was book an express grooming during the week. I asked to solve todays issue could I take him and bring him back when he is dry, they said no it was to busy. So the problem is he doesn’t like the kennel where he has to be when he is drying. So what’s the difference if I take him and bring him back when he was dry, problem solved. They said they were too busy for that. So he can’t be in a kennel drying but your too busy to have me hold him in the store or outside the store while he dry’s. Nope can’t do it. I then suggested how about I bring him in for the express grooming but I bath him first so I don’t have to pay for the bath portion, nope can’t do that because they can’t alter the price. So I said don’t charge me for today and they said no. I was the only one trying to come up with a solution to resolve the situation. They failed to update the system for my dog that would not allow me to book on-line. They told me that it has now been done but it still allowed be to book. Called corporate to see if one of my solutions will work.

I’ve owned, rescued, and rehabilitated reptiles for over 15 years. I have never in that time seen reptile enclosure get this dirty unless it was a rescue situation when the reptile had been completely neglected and abandoned, going without cleaning for months to look like that. Go into any petsmart and I guarantee you’ll never find an enclosure half as dirty.

Conflicted. Aquatic selection was decent which is nice to see but the employee that checked me out made my visit pretty terrible. Her initial attitude was immediately that of "I don't care and what do you want". I understand a younger workforce may have these issues but this was just uncalled for. From asking how to do a pickup, to if I could pay for my other things that I shopped around for at the same time, to the asking for name and ID....EVERY little bit of effort she had to put into the interaction was annoyed and and rude. Came across extremely disrespectful, didn't help me bag my things even though it was very clear I was also struggling with my 2 year old in that moment..made me go to another counter to do it myself with one hand and yes plant water did spill in my bag uuggghhh. It could not have been a worse representation of the company or herself as a professional.

I was there a few days ago to adopt a chinese water dragon. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. When they brought the water dragon out of the enclosure 3 employees came out all talking about how cool these creatures are. They told me how he had been returned previously for not eating while being housed with another WD, and that they had been working to get his health back up. The warned me of the possibility of this happening and suggested possibly housing separately should I get the same results. This truly showed me how much they love and care for the creatures which means a lot to me as an animal and reptile lover.I didnt get names and I'm not sure if any of those employees will see this, I hope so. I just wanted them to know that these two get along great and he is eating no problem! I noticed that he wont eat when I'm lurking over him so I'll put the meal worm down and walk away and immediately hear crunching. Maybe that was the issue with the previous family.Either way I am so happy to have him and so thankful to your team at Petco for showing how much they care for the little guy!Thank you!

I went in to return a bag of dog food. This was the second time in the last few weeks I had to do this because my dogs were not eating the new food. Everyone was very helpful in the return and Austin worked with us to figure out the best dog food to buy for them

Christina was the one working there standing around, so many of the betta fish dead, in deplorable conditions. She walked away from me when I told her, had an attitude like she didn't care. Told me they're too busy and "overworked".

I want recommend Ashley, in the grooming department. I have Tibetan Terrier (Bentley), who has huge anxiety, leaving home. He's as sweet as the day is long, but does not care for strangers! Bentley, is great with Ashley and she does a fantastic job with him! Highly recommended!

Petco must pay the groomers hourly to do NOTHING.Walking in you can see all the groomers through the glass just chit-chatting while a couple of dogs are on the tables waiting to be groomed.Now I understand why there was so many sameday appointments here.They refused to groom my pet because he had a leg injury at the beginning of Feb 2023. He was cleared 2 months PRIOR to go back to normal and they still refused.He has always been seen at other Petco without any issues. This place is completely ridiculous. I know Petco is a big company but they still pay people to do a job and the grooming staff here isn't doing it. If I own this location, I'd definitely compare how much money this team brings in compared to other locations.They cancel my appointment, I didn't. Wondering how many other potential business they turn away due to their laziness.

UPDATED- was GREAT, now not so much. chandler blvd/101. staff changed, nice but not knowledgeable in aquatics which was a mess. used to be my go to store. depends on what you need though. don't know if I'll be back

I was charged $51 for a haircut and bath though the online price for my size dog says $42. I had clicked on the Halloween special of $28 because the way I read it I thought it was a complete grooming special but when I got my bill I was told that was an add-on. An additional $5.99 was charged for “merchandise” which could not be explained to me as far as what that included. I was not happy with this total price and told them so but that I realized they didn’t control pricing and I would not be coming back. When my dog was brought out to me, I noticed right away that her nails were still very rough on the bottom. The groomer volunteered to take her back and do them over but her attitude toward me had become hostile and defensive, saying she had explained to me what she was going to do and I was the one who had ordered the service online. I didn’t want her handling my dog when she was in such a state. It was a very disappointing experience to say the least.

So I brought my (male Siberian husky) here to get a wash, hygiene cut, and DE-SHED I spent 140$ on the service and left a 20$ tip (CASH) and was disappointed to find that he had only been given a bath when I got home I took a shedding brush and did six passes and that picture is what the result was. Usually a DE-SHED takes an hour that’s why it is 40$ extra. We called back to discuss what happened and the girl in the picture said to come in next week so we did. I had to drive back (takes one hour) for something that should have been done the first time. When we arrived today Sunday (05/15/22) she said that he would be done in 15mins. so I drove an hour for a 15 min brushing to then drive an hour back home. Definitely lost this customer after this joke of a service. I know I have a long haired dog and they shed regardless but if you notice the picture you can clearly tell we did not get what we paid for. We have been customers with Petco for 5 years and we have three Arctic dogs and have never had this problem before.

Ellie is the absolute GREATEST !Everytime I step into Petco I’m always greeted by such a sincere and warm staff which means a lot, furthermore, the product selection is also phenomenal, and the cleanliness of this location is superb! Moving along is the purpose of me submitting this review, which is the most wonderful person ever - Ms. Ellie, she has a heart of gold, but is also very informative on every single question or concern I’ve had thus far and when I come in looking for supplies she is super helpful. Petco is an amazing place, not just for their products and great prices, but also because of Exceptional management! Thanks so much Petco! Blessings

Every cashier/worker we have encountered here has been EXTREMELY helpful, cheerful, honest and sincere! They always seem to give us the best deal on the item(s) we are looking for and know where to find them. I wish the store were a little bit bigger and maybe organized in a way that made it easier to find what I am looking for. But, I think it is more confusing because the small size is limiting the ability to keep it more organized. This store is our "go-to" store for recommendations on what to buy/do to make our pet healthier and happier!

Very limited selection of all pet types. We bought a betta fish and food and came out. Haven't been to a pet store in a while, but last time went to Pet smart and it was much better overall. Might be the current post-Covid situation, but found the store underwhelming. It served the purpose though.

Went here to get my dog groomed, she’s really old, about 15, her fur was over grown but thankfully petco came to the rescue. The staff were all super nice and welcoming, and now my dog looks 20 times better.

Is clean, well organized store. We were there primarily for the vet service, to get vaccine shots for our dog. Friendly, professional service. They ran a little late so they shaved off 20% from our bill (without us asking). A sign of their commitment to doing right by the customer...

I come from Maricopa AZ to my appointment, which is more than 45 minutes away. I was late due to a traffic accident, I called to let them know that I was late and the stylist did not receive my puppy because it was more than 30 minutes late. The traffic jam was not my fault. I was treated with indifference and I do not consider that it was a fair or kind treatment and they did not show flexibility or kindness after I am a client of theirs, I do have patience with them to wait for when they can give me an appointment. I am disappointed of this place.
