We visited this morning for the first time. Really impressive set up. They did a great job designing the space and making it look beautiful. Pricing seemed really reasonable. However, no one spoke to me while I was in the store. Husband said one employee asked if he needed anything while we were there. We only needed snails today, so he went and asked the guy for help when we were ready. The guy who helped us wasn’t friendly and lacked customer service. I’d let him know which snails I wanted and he picked the first one up and said shells empty. Didn’t bother to help us look for similar items. Just kept asking is that it after each snail. We purchased 4. I don’t see us coming back when there are so many other stores that offer the service and friendliness and make it seem like they actually want us in their shop.

5 stars from me. I am terrible with names and don’t remember the gentleman’s name that helped me. So sorry. He was so patient and so helpful with all of my questions. Such a great set up with a salt water and fresh water sides. Will definitely be back to add more to community tank.

Went to Kona Reef in Chandler and although the workers are very friendly, most of them have absolutely no clue what they are talking about. To add, they have a humongous eel in a 15 gallon tank. The eel looked to be around 4 feet in size and had little to no room to swim around, it was very sad. The atmosphere is nice but I found spider webs which seemed to of been building in their position for a while, makes me question their cleaning routines. I hope this review gets to the right eyes, they could really use some knowledgeable workers.

Beautiful store and friendly staff. Just a great place for buying tanks, fish, and plants. Everything was very very clean and the fish are kept in large tanks, not stressed, and water levels are very similar to what most home aquariums in Phoenix will have. Waiting for angel fish to be in stock so I can finish setting up my dream tank.

Kona Reef AZ (Chandler) fish store is a fantastic place for all your aquarium needs. Their staff is exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. They offer a wide range of aquarium services, including water testing, cleaning, and RO water for those who want to take the hands-on approach and manage their aquarium's water quality.The store's layout is very well thought out and easy to navigate. The selection of fish, aquarium supplies, and equipment is extensive and of the highest quality. Caitlin was incredibly helpful in answering all of the questions I had as I'm getting back into the hobby.Overall, I highly recommend Kona Reef AZ fish store to anyone seriously interested in starting or maintaining an aquarium. I was in the neighborhood and just wanted to browse a little bit, this place is unbelievable. Lots of really unique fish, tanks are all clean as well as the store itself. Had such a wonderful experience working with Kaitlin to pick out some goodies to plant this micro 40 ounce tank! She was very knowledgeable and the perfect level of friendly! Also she was versed in both fresh and salt and could go back and forth mid conversation without missing a beat! If you need anything aquatic this should be your stop! Not to mention the store is absolutely gorgeous and clean!

Very helpful and friendly staff, amazing selection for both Saltwater and freshwater water fish/corals and plants. They qt thier fish and medicate the fish systems so the fish I've purchased have always been healthy and eating well.

I purchased almost everything for my cave tank here. I can't wait for the tank to cycle, so I can add fish! Absolutely beautiful store! Nicest in the valley! Wonderful that they have a nice selection for freshwater and saltwater. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, patient, kind, and really takes the time to understand what you are looking to accomplish and gives excellent advice. The health of their animals comes first and you can tell by how well taken care of the tanks and store are. Everything is clean and organized, always. For all this, you would expect high prices, but you'd be wrong. Very competitive pricing and they have sales and fun family friendly events occasionally. I can't say enough good things about this store and the staff. I highly recommend checking this store out!

I love Kona Reef AZ-Chandler they go above and beyond to help you out. I have found some really good corals at great prices that are very tolerant to many variables. I drive all the way from West Valley (Goodyear) just to buy my Saltwater corals, fish and equipment.

This is one of my favorite fish stores, they are very clean and always have a wide variety of fish and plants to choose from (and the giant koi pond inside is awesome). Katelyn in particular has always been very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful whenever we go. I just moved to the area and I'm glad to have a reliable aquatics store near me, I'll be coming back quite often!Update: the last several times I've come to this store, several tanks have had obvious ich infestations that doesn't seem to be controlled (this is after several visits over several months so it clearly seems to be ongoing at this point). The axolotl tank was also very upsetting to see; almost every single one of them were missing several limbs and some of their gills seemed very unhealthy. I am not an axolotl expert by any means but their appearance plus the ich tanks mean I won't be buying any stock from them anytime soon.

I have been having nothing but issues setting up my new tank and it’s been very frustrating dealing with the issues that have been going on. However Kona reef but especially Tommy, Caitlyn and Noel have made the experience so much better. I swear everyday I’m in there asking questions and each time they find the answer for me. I can’t say thank you enough and I will continue to shop due to their customer service.

Always extremely helpful staff who even help me decide when I just go in to look for options. My only complaint is that the livestock are usually running on the low side by the time I’m able to stop in on the weekends. Every other Wednesday is the time to stop in from what I’ve heard. That’s not a bad thing though, just means they’re getting customers which tells you it’s a good store. Huge shoutout to John, not sure how to spell his name but every time I walk in the store he makes sure I’m taken care of and always provides amazing service and a great experience! Always helps me decide what Frag I’m buying that day, I can never decide but he always helps me pick the best one for my tank.

This place is great. I'm new to freshwater live plant set ups and came here to learn. Everyone here was nice and helpful. Trevor assisted me and got me set up with everything I needed. He explained everything to me. Super nice and patient. The store itself is amazing, everything anyone could possibly want or need to create amazing fresh or salt water tank set ups, it was really fun inside. I feel confident now in doing a live set up, and confident I'll be going back in a lot in the future. Thanks Kona and Trevor especially.

100% recommend Kona Reef for your new fish store. Trevor has helped us several times & just met Seth for the 1st time. These guys are not just employees, they're hobbyists & they love what they do. Not to mention, there's 2 cute dogs that belong to another employee that greet you at the door! They give discounts, they have a freshwater side, AND a saltwater side!! They have the craziest marine life, a beautiful koi pond, natural decor, & the best part is me & my boyfriend are new to the fish hobby & they actually teach us rather than just handing us stuff & making their money. Our fishies are most definitely the best quality. Don't miss out on this place I promise you, you won't regret it.

100% Great store, great staff! I love walking through the store and watching all the fishies! I just got back into the hobby (took over a neighbors tank) and needed some real info not just 'maybes' and 'ifs' you get from a box store. We came here looking for start up info and keep coming back! Trevor was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I've learned more than when I used to have fish.Plus this place is awesome! Great tanks and fish and a huge Koi pond. Even a big waterfall. Plus they have cute puppies that greet you while you're there. I've been able to get my fish back to great health and can't wait until I can move up to a bigger tank.

This place is awesome. I’m a complete amateur and wish I had come here first but I went to petco. Long story short- I was given tons of bad info and killed the fish I bought. Came here with my issues, Trevor gave me a few suggestions that worked perfectly and now we’ve got the tank in good condition. He’s been a wealth of knowledge in the two times we’ve been there, definitely has a passion for what he does and is an asset to this shop. I’m not a good cameraman but I did snap two photos today because I wanted to show someone how cool the place is inside.

1) Store was clean and well laid out. Fish were in clean organized and beautiful tanks!2) My husband and I were greeted upon entry. It was pleasant and genuine. Tommy, the fish guy, answered probably a thousand questions happy to help and his knowledge was far above and beyond anything I have experienced before. He was honest and kept me and my husband from getting fish that we would have gotten on impulse.3)we will be back at least once a week! Found our forever fish store!

John was super helpful. He never stops smiling, which is awesome in todays world of customer facing roles. He is always asking how my tank is doing, and shows legitimate interest. This is the coolest place ever!!! We have bought all of our fish from here and let me just tell you that they are more helpful than a Chick-fil-a employee!!! First my man Trevor knows just about everything on everything, and he is constantly correcting the false knowledge I read on the so called inter-webs! Second Mickey is the HBIC who ordered us our Green Phantom Pleco. We call him Mr. Burns cause he’s so MONEY! And last but not least thank you Lisa and Bridget for always smiling and being so helpful, you guys ROCK!! I will never buy a fish from anywhere else, KONA REEF IS THE FREAKING BEST!! Had to visit this place after hearing all about it from friends. Met with Landon. What an excellent experience! Salt water to the left and fresh water to the right. Incredible display of state of the art tank systems including APEX remote controllers, reef cleaners, etc. incredible assortment of anemones, fresh frozen food, live rock, exotic and starter fish. This place takes it to the next level!

Great store and staff! Trevor is extremely knowledgeable and their selection of fresh/saltwater livestock is top notch. Love that this place is dog friendly too - our huskies had a blast looking into the koi pond!
