I never review but I am so upset with the lack of professionalism of this shelter. We put in an application on Thursday. At that time, our desired pet had no others interested. He had been there just 2 days. Fully expecting to be approved and receive the cat in a few days, I discovered on the shelters' social media site that they had adopted "our" cat to someone who clearly came after us. My assumption- someone was willing to adopt a feral in addition, so we, a loving family, were passed over although in line. How about some common courtesy to let us know via phone call that we weren't chosen? The worst part was being lied to over the phone when the woman said our vet needed to be called first on Monday when the vet opened. Well it's Sunday and you never gave us a chance. I don't know how I'm going to break the news to my son.

This place is really great! It's small but very clean, and the animals are very well cared for!Very impressed with Nikki and how much she does for the critters there! We ended up with a kitten that chose us...50 bucks adoption fee for fixing, and first shots! Quite a good deal and well worth it for this little guy!!

After reading these reviews this place should be investigated!! I wish I could give it zero stars!!!Was denied an adoption because my senior parent didn't know the exact date a now deceased previously adopted pet had seen the vet. When my other parent, who is a blind veteran, called to question their decision they were extremely rude to them over the phone and told them "Go adopt a pet in Douglas, that they'll adopt to anyone."This place should be in business to help stray and unwanted pets find a loving forever home. Not keep the shelter full in order to solicit funds or a paycheck from taxpayers and the surrounding community!!!The staff here is extremely rude and unprofessional!!!

Very disappointing experience at this shelter. I came here with my boyfriend since we are currently in a long distance relationship as we wait for our wedding date. We came in & immediately noticed the number of cats confined to small cages. That is when we met the cat the my boyfriend decided would be a good fit...or at least hoped she would be. The cat ended up being incredibly sick, which, after him taking her to the vet to get better, came to the realization that not just her but many other cats and dogs were coming from this shelter also very sick. My boyfriend contacted the shelter multiple times for advice, but received few. He ended up asking them if they could help him with the vet bills since the vet did not know what was exactly wrong, and instead the shelter opted to take the cat back and then ended up writing a hateful post towards my boyfriend about the situation. Never did they apologize. We loved the cat so much. It hurts my heart to think that there are multiple animals sick there. Would not recommend.

We adopted our boxer, Bonnie, here a few years ago (around the same time the new manager is mentioned in the other reviews). She had and still has an excellent temperament. Most importantly, she was CLEAN when we adopted her, which is something that stood out to me after I had visited a few other shelters. The adoption process was easy, the staff was friendly, and she was able to go home with us that day. Bonnie is the perfect fit and I would definitely consider adopting here again when we are ready to add another animal to our family.

We recently adopted a young kitten and found the staff to be very kind, caring, and dedicated to the animals. Our kitten along with her siblings were an irresponsible pet owner's throw aways. This shelter does the best that they can with what little they have to take care of the result of other people's irresponsibility. People, please be responsible pet parents and spay and neuter your pets.

I wish I could rate them less than zero. I put an application in to adopt a husky named Duncan, there was issue with not having shot records for my dog that I already had, mostly because I believe the people that I got him from and that they were going to find the records. My big issue was that I put an application in for Duncan and couldn't even get a phone call to say yes or no, or that I need to get my dog's records updated. Now I lost the opportunity to give Duncan a new home and new friend for my dog. It is amazing in this modern age of communications, someone doesn't know how to pick up a phone!

I was "let-go" as a dog walker volunteer today, because I "didn't follow instructions." I walked a dog who's cage stated that he was "active and needed to be on a ranch" - there was no "do not walk this dog" sign or tag on his collar - nor on his cage. I was in no way "instructed" to avoid that dog. No one supervised the dog walking. Had I been told to avoid that dog, I certainly would have followed instructions. I am a ex-marine and know how to follow orders. I want to offer my apologies to everyone involved, especially the dogs, who so desperately need volunteers. I am really sorry I am no longer allowed to volunteer. This letter is written on behalf of Havis Ratterree of Bisbee.

I would not recommend adopting from here. I got a 12 week old kitten that already had a fungal infection (Ringworm) Before we even got him. Most of the animals seem very aggressive. And the kitten I have is somewhat aggressive, but that's only because he's in pain from his bad health conditions. The policy in all animals shelters, is to make sure the animal is in good health, before sending them to a new home. I don't regret getting my kitten, if anything I'm grateful I was led to him to bring him home and give him the care he needs. If you adopt here BEWARE!!! Doesn't matter if there is a new Manager.

Walking my dog, I found a cat in the middle of the night in below-zero temperatures. Went back out, got it caged, and took it back home where it's heated overnight til the morning when I could do something about it. Called Bisbee Animal Shelter and spoke to a very kind, understanding woman. Brought the cat in so they could locate its owners or find it a new home. That's when I met Nancy Drew. There were two employees working the day I brought the cat in; the one I spoke to on the phone and Nancy Drew.Nancy Drew kept asking me questions, insinuating I was a Sierra Vista resident looking to offload an animal at their shelter. Then she flat out accused me of it.The other employee who I had spoken to over to over the phone cut her off and thanked me for doing the right thing. While I love knowing this shelter is here for just this sort of thing, I think they ought to replace Nancy Drew with a nicer representative.Just my $.02.

I wasn't there for the shelter or the recovery center, but for the monthly yard sale. Which is a spectacular agglomeration of stuff from which the occasional plum might be plucked.

BEWARE. These people will LIE to you and say the animals are in good condition or have MINOR issues. When, in fact, they have MAJOR sicknesses. Then they refuse to take responsibility, lie and say you called them unsavory names, and even go as far to say hurtful and shameful things about you for the stuff THEY lied about. They are accusing and selfish and would do anything to lessen the amount of animals in the shelter. Instead of trying to help them, they pawn them off and then get angry over something that should have been prevented if they just took care of their animals. I would not recommend this place to anyone until management/staffing has been changed. These animals deserve better.

The staff is incredibly loving and care and for every animal that comes through there. Wether that’s finding them forever homes, fostering and or mending sick and abused animals back to health. They the most with what the have and get from the community.

I see this animal shelter advertising for people to help all the time but when I tried to apply they were in a hurry at first but then I discovered they had more applications and they we're rude and short with me and never called back and pretty much insulted me Im 47 and had had pets my whole life just because they didn't have interest with me for this pet I could have fostered a different pet in the future but the way they talked to me and there manarism was just ignorant there luck is gonna run out for the future and I won't be surprised what a disappointment.

Horrible experience. They have an extensive history of refusing to give peoples lost pets back or lying and saying they don't have them when they do.
