Good room, good shower in room.Rude/hostile front desk ruined stay.Location less than ideal.Best Western has friendly staff and an excellent location this would be my recommendation for where to stay in Valdez for a pleasant experience.

All hotel personnel very professional and knowledgeable of things in hotel and area! Was a great experience staying here! Highly recommendedRooms: Rooms are spacious and very comfortable even with 2 ppl sharing a roomFood & drinks: While here only a handful of restaurants were open but i definitely recommend “the wheelhouse”

Staff was excellent. Nancy was wonderful to visit with. Breakfast was hot and very complete, other than no fresh fruit, which is a rare commodity in Alaska, so understandable. Our room was clean and comfortable but the heat was very weak and struggled to keep the room warm in spite of it only being in the forties outside. The view of the mountains around us was spectacular but a little marred but the other nearby buildings blocking the view. That said, I will say I think this is probably nicest and newest hotel in Valdez and when we return this will most definitely be our go to for lodging. We had a great stay.Walkability: Easy walking access to the marinas and local restaurants.

Extremely overpriced. Place is definitely one of the higher end in town but to pay more than twice than anywhere else is way over the top. They seem to vary the price wildly based on demand and supply.Rooms are spacious. The lady who checked us in was extremely rude and seemed to be in the wrong profession. I am not sure how this place gets rated best in town. And finally they tell us room cleaning is for long term stays only.

Best place in town. New, clean, spacious. Great displays. Check out the bear on the second floor. Great breakfast too.Walkability: It's an easy walk to the harbor. And if you're in Valdez, you have to walk down the boardwalk!

Totem sets the bar for Valdez accommodations, a very nice looking building. The room was very neat & the view was great also. The breakfast could be spruced up a little more to match the room quality. Some other options besides instant oats, biscuits & gravy, etc. Would have been great.Rooms: Very nice, some of the rooms have decks to them.Walkability: Pretty much down town, great accessibility to any restaurant or to the harbor/board walk.

Stayed in the suits. Dryer didn't work, microwave didn't work. I let them know but nothing was ever fixed. I was there for 15 days and my room was never cleaned or serviced. Great breakfast though!Rooms: They originally overcharged for a government rate but corrected it afterwards.

What a great, modern, clean hotel to stay in! Not too many at this level available around Valdez (if any) or for that matter in a 200 mile radius. Enjoyed a 2 night stay with the family. Took 2 double queen rooms. Everything here is well maintained and is in top shape. The location in the dead center is also very convenient for walking distances to most needed amenities or restaurants and shops in Valdez.Nice to know that rooms 317/319/321 all have a small outside terrace/porch for some outside reading/coffee or just simply enjoying the views.Highly recommended!

The rooms are very nice. They were clean. Everything looked new compared to the other hotel I stayed at in Valdez. The location was conveniently near places I could walk to go grab a bite or the grocery store about a block away. The service was not the best. I think it could be a worker shortage or they were just super busy because the hotel was completely booked. Sometimes there wasn't anyone at the front desk. Anytime I had questions, random guests would cut in. The front desk person would stop helping me to go help that person instead after I had been waiting lat least 10 minutes for someone to help me. How about help people in order that they waited? It was completely unprofessional.

Extremely clean. Very basic but perfectly adequate hotel. We stayed in a double queen room. Our kids loved the pool. Really my only complaint would be the breakfast…..but it is “free” and if you have low expectations for a hotel breakfast, you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely hotel which was recently renovated. The rooms were big and clean and includes for example a (mini) fridge, a couch and a possibility to work at the desk. Would recommend the hotel and the location was close to the highway and the port. Cons are that no restaurant was included in the hotel, the pool was cold and smelled and on the second day, almost all options regarding the included breakfast were ran out.

Loved it. Best place to stay in Valdez. Beds are comfortable. Good continental breakfast. Friendly employees. The pool was ACTUALLY warm which is hard to find. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the bathroom wasn't completely clean. But it can be overlooked by everything else great about this place.

Motel is nice and clean but pricey. We paid twice as much to stay here as at other places because of the pool. We were staying during the High school basketball tournament. The pool was conveniently closed for the entire tournament.

The gentleman at the front desk when we first arrived to see if they had available rooms was pretty rude he refused to let us look at a room to see if it would fit our needs. He was actually so rude and unwelcoming that I wanted to go get a hotel somewhere else but we were on our motorcycles and it was pouring rain and we were tired so we decided to stay we asked him if we could put our motorcycles out of the way under the canopy where hotels all over the United States let motorcyclist do, he refused that also!! The lady who came to work after he left though made up for it all she was sweet, polite, and kind I truly wish she was the one that greeted us when we got here because that guy needs to learn some customer service skills he has absolutely none he made us feel like we were not worthy for this hotel! I would’ve absolutely given this hotel five stars if it was not for that guy!! Also the cook in the morning, she was awesome, she offered to cook me eggs or remake anything else it was just a really great experience! And of course the older lady at the front desk late at night! And the rooms were so clean and beautiful kudos to the housekeeping!!! That front desk guy with the tattoos all over his arms needs to go to customer service skills training, in a bad way! But other than him this was a beautiful hotel and the other workers were really nice the elder lady at night saw that our bikes were out in the rain and even asked if we wanted to pull them under the canopy we were like what!? the other guy refused to let us!

Great stay, really comfortable bed, best continental breakfast I’ve ever had. Staff were mostly very friendly. I’ve stayed in cleaner rooms. Garbage was left in mine when I checked in which made me wonder how well the rest of the room had been cleaned. Definitely would stay there again. Not a game changer.

This is the most modern and cleanest hotel in 200 km range, prob more.Very nice entrance, with enough parking space, just right off the end of the highway.Soft beds, minifridge, bunkbeds if needed, and even a nightlamp in the bathroom. Solid breakfast options, and the location is in walking distance of the harbor and all restaurants and foodtrucks. They have ice vending machines, pool, guestlaundry, snackvendingmachines and a gym. Some (minor) cons:They dont have a restaurant in the hotel and aside from foodtrucks, restaurants in Valdez are not great. The pool is somewhat coldThe elevator although big, is very slow and there is only one I believe2nd day breakfast they had some trouble filling all demands

Pros: Rooms were clean and new. Bed was very comfortable and the shower spacious. Free wifi. Banquet room is stunning (even though the huge windows only give you a view of one of their other buildings). Employees were very friendly. And they like dogs!Cons: Breakfast was okayish. Both times I had it, the food was scarce, eggs tasted like they were powdered, pancake bottoms were hard as rocks. Biscuits and gravy was good though. Hotel was also extremely expensive for the dates I stayed even though they had plenty of rooms available. If I wasn't staying for work I would have looked elsewhere.

Totem Hotel is top notch lodging in Valdez as the newest hotel in townCleanliness: Everything had been cleaned upon arrival. A few streaks on the mirror, but not a big deal.Comfort: The beds were very comfortable, but the pillows were not very supportive. The towels were the worst thing about the stay as they had a rough texture and were cheaply made. The tubs are deep and good to take a bath in if that's your thing.Breakfast: lots of options, very filling, and vegetarian friendly. Buffet style offering hot eggs, breakfast meats, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, potatoes. Grab and go fruit, muffins and bagels. Also instant oatmeal, toast, yogurt, juice, coffee, and tea.Noise: The hallways doors are clanky and you can hear them in your room if other people are out there. Most noticeable if you have a room by the stairwell door.Staff: Standard service, nothing awful or amazing to report.Location: Everything is close in Valdez, including this hotel...lol.Value: OK value for the money. The more expensive lodging option in town, but it offers a well-kept comfortable stay.Other: there is a nice fitness room and small pool with warmish water. I really wish they had a hot tub instead of a pool given the cooler climate of Valdez.
