Nice spot. From here you can walk along the harbor and take the harbor trail and there's a number of restaurants and shops you can stop at.Walkability: This is the reason to stay here as you can walk the strip along the harbor.

All the comments regarding the noise, hot rooms and lack of security are all 100% correct. It's a small town so understandable that it isn't a high end hotel. But that is no excuse for leaving external doors unlocked at night so anyone can walk past rooms without having to go through reception or using a room key. The external doors constantly bang shut and the whole hotel shakes, literally. The rooms are unbearably hot when it is only 10 degrees outside. I couldn't find any heating controls in the room so it must be centrally controlled. There is no air con which normally would be fine IF you can leave a window open but the ground floor rooms you could easily climb in the window so we had to lock the windows closed while we were out and while we were sleeping. Also people park cars right in front of your window so you get people peering in or you get the exhaust fumes. If you do stay here, request a room on the top floor so you can get some fresh air. Breakfast was very basic. We stayed here as part of a tour.Rooms: Hot, stuffy, noisy.Safety: No security, anyone can walk in via back and side doors.Noteworthy details: Staff attending to rooms were very friendly

breakfast is a joke. showed up at 8 and half the hot dishes were empty. but the biggest disappointment is there is nothing healthy.. The only cold cereal is garbage sugar cereal. (they used to have really good homemade granola). no oatmeal. no fresh fruit (or even canned fruit). The yogurt machine was broken. All that said, the restaurant is really good for lunch/dinner.

This hotel is very dated and very worn. The rooms are nothing special at all. The hotel does not have a/c so you have to leave a window open as it is quite musty inside and just to have some cooler air. Our “view” was of a metal building in an alley! Not the harbor view I selected. Not worth the 556.00 for 2 nights. The location was nice and we could walk around Valdez. The sound proofing is non existent. You can hear people walking up and down the halls. For the money we paid it was disappointing.

Although there was still trash in my room (on my bed, specifically oreo wrappers that didn't come from us as we didn't bring any oreos)... the front office was super sweet and helpful! Hotel is within walking distance to the harbor, gift shops, and food! Not to mention all the tourist things like charters. I have to believe the trash was a fluke as everything else was great! I recommend!

Great experience. Christine? Made reservations and checkin easy and friendly. Austin ALWAYS had a friendly smile or helpful comment. We loved the real plates and food variety at breakfast. Great location for walking Valdez or short drive to glacier or fish hatchery...where in one day saw sea lions, pink and dog and fisherman fushing fir silver salmon. Waters PACKED with salmon. A bear, seals, blooming red fireweed, Stellers Jay, eagle. Fred gives great educational boat tours.

I stayed here because the Totem hotel was fully booked that night. The rooms were pretty old but they had everything I needed. It was clean enough. The walls in the bathroom is more yellow than white. It had more 80's vibes than watching Stranger Things. They mentioned they were short staffed when I tried to check in early which was understandable & pretty common at many hotels. The employees were super nice. There was a nice hand written note in the room. They had complimentary breakfast. The location was near many walkable places. The view was nice. Parking was convenient.

The hotel has a bad insulation for sound. If you go to bed late and get up late, you definitely will bother some people at night and get bothered in the morning. I could hear people talking in the next room. I could hear people walking, opening and closing the door in the second floor. It makes big noise opening the door. When I was staying there, it was so noisy in the morning. I am not sure if it was from housekeeping or hotel remodeling. They started doing work so early.

Room is dated but fine for a night. Our mountain view room on the second floor had a view of the coast guard vessel but smelled, so we kept the window open throughout our stay. Not the most restful sleep due to the seagulls, but too warm and smelly if we closed the window. Full hot breakfast was unexpected. $233.77 for one Saturday night in June. Limited options, so you’ll pay more for less in Valdez.

By far one of the best places to stay in Valdez. On the main strip in the heart of town you will have breathtaking views of the mountains, harbor, ocean, and so much more. You can upgrade to one of their mountain view rooms for very little more and the room is massive. They serve a delicious breakfast. Beautiful lobby and large open yard behind the lobby you can watch the boats go in and out. Always wonderful staff and clean rooms. I highly recommend.Nearby activities: The cities website has a list of all of the most popular destinations in and near town to ensure you have the adventure of a lifetime.Safety: Safest town with an incredible police force and fire department.Walkability: The hotel is in the heart of the main strip.Food & drinks: This hotel has a bar and restaurant called the wheelhouse. I highly recommend the restaurant as the food is top quality and the seating area is wrapped in windows so you can dine watching the mountainscape and harbor.

8/15/22-8/17/22 My first impression is that all the furnishings and carpet in the room were very outdated, same with the hallways and eating areas. The carpets needed to be replaced. We were on the first floor. There was another person in the room above us and we could hear them talking and when they walked on the floor we could hear every step and the floor creaked. One person from our group went down for breakfast during regular breakfast hours and everything was gone except for 2 pancakes. The staff at the front desk was polite. I wanted to note that my wife has $200 in gifts that she left in a small paper gift bag with 2 handles and there was a clear bag ties at the top over it. When we got back for the day, the clear bag was loose on the floor and the gifts and gift bag were gone. The front desk person stated that the head of housekeeping checks each room before it is cleaned, whatever that means but that did not prevent the loss of these gifts.Edit: Based on owner's response. We called the front desk the day we checked about about this and were told that it was not turned in. That is expected since it was stolen. There is no security in this hotel. All the doors, including the one a few steps away from our room are left open 24 hours a day.

No elevators. No A/C. Stained, torn sheets. Pet friendly. Great staff. Friendly service. Very accommodating. Beautiful harbor view when the fog clears. Minutes from the Valdez Civic Center and Prince William Sound Community College. I had an excellent time there!

Not a bad Hotel, room was nice & clean and the front desk staff was very friendly & helpful. There's no elevator which makes it hard for someone like me with a bad back, but the staff did offer to help. The food at the restaurant was excellent, 5 stars to the kitchen staff...however 1 or maybe even 0 stars to the Wait Staff being that they all but ignored me completely from the moment I sat down, Ignoring my requests for water & tea refills. They just saw me as a nuisance, a person taking up one of their big tables and were quick & happy to be rid of me so they could get back to attending to their money tables of 4 or more. I requested the tip be given to the kitchen staff, but that was probably ignored as well.

Clean rooms. We had a beautiful view over the Harbor. The decor was a bit dated. Fair price to be right next to the Valdez harbor. We were close enough to restaurants that we could walk. Bummed that there wasn't a hot breakfast offered, but that was due to COVID 19. They have a restaurant connected to the hotel, but it may not open for breakfast and/or it is privately owned. We received a bagged breakfast of a bottle of water, an apple and a granola bar and they had boiled eggs if you asked for one. I absolutely loved our view. There are benches right outside the hotel. It would be a perfect spot to sip coffee and watch the boats go out. Nice stay overall. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 due to the room being so dated. Staff were very personable. I didn't see an elevator for those with handicaps.

We got the whirlpool room with a great view of fishing boats coming and going, along with cool harbor noises while the windows where open. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Restaurant food was good and bar view was great. Enjoyed watching resident harbor otter swim around while having beverages. Two minutes from the ferry. Would definitely stay there again. Also, wild fluffy bunnies everywhere outside.

I sleep well, and the rooms are clean. When I forgot stuff in the room it was saved for me. The attached bar and restraint serve great food. Both have a very cool view of the Boat Harbor. Service is usually fast and my tea glass has never gone dry. It definitely is our first choice.

Good experience. The receptionists are friendly. Wasn’t a fan of the carpet or the water temp on the shower. It was either burning hot or ice cold so I had to mess with it for a while. Does have wonderful views and it’s right next to some restaurants and the harbor. There’s a restaurant inside and free breakfast. Breakfast was delicious they have sausage links, patties, scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, potatoes and so much more. Beds were comfy. Please add laundry bags. Disappointed to not see any

DO NOT STAY!!!! In the middle of the night had a very loud announcement from one of the staff members, breakfast was lack-luster (some of the food was expired so had to check expiration dates) . Oh yeah, NO AC….was told just open your window not if I’m on the first floor. I’m not going to do that in the middle of the night. Showers broken in multiple rooms and hot water for only about 10 minutes. And to top it all off there is a weird smell in your room and through out the rest of the hotel. So do not stay!!!!!!
