I couldn't have had any better experience than I did at Susitna River Lodge. Darlene and her staff are so accommodating and the lodge itself is just beautiful! My room was very cozy clean and comfortable. Wifi worked perfectly and was able to video chat with friends from home very easily. Darlene provided transportation to and from the train station as well as a ride in to town - with a detour to an amazing vista point of Denali! This was one of the highlights of my trip to Alaska!Rooms: Super comfortable beds and seating in common areas of the main lodge.Nearby activities: Talkeetna shops and dining; flightseeing tours, hikingSafety: Very safe - even after dark and walking back from town.Walkability: Easy walk to town - less than a mile awayNoteworthy details: Beautiful views of the river and mountains; super comfortable beds and seating in common areas.

Wonderful place to stay for a night on our trip to Fairbanks. Saw the Aurora from here. River is beautiful with Denali in the distance. Lodge was a great place to hang out and meet other guests (lovely people from Brazil). Would stay here again.Rooms: All the cabins and lodge seen to be pretty new. That are nice, well furnished, with some small maintenance issues that are too be expected when staying anywhere.

Amazing location with a wonderful view of the river. Cabin was amazing; very clean as if it was just built. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating and the main building had games, movies, snacks, and comfortable seating to simply relax and enjoy.Safety: The staff had posted signs of when there was a bear spotted and provided bear spray to borrow.

My one regret: not another day here within the main lodge. Learned about this family owned business and found it to be very well run, thoughtful. Also compliments to the front desk - she is very polite and well spoken.P.S. my dad complimented the fact there were no TVs! The man said - “finally I get to rest away from that noise!”

We had a really nice night at the Susitna River Lodging. We stayed in the lodge in an upstairs suite which accommodated three adults nicely. The river views were beautiful and our room was warm and clean. I was up early and spent a nice morning in the lobby area drinking coffee in front of the fireplace.I would definitely stay here again when back in the area.

A little confusion upon check in simply because My airline had issues so I got in late and did not see where they had left my key out so I could still get into my room, so if you get in late don't make my mistake they will leave your key at the desk in an envelope.Other than that it was a wonderful room, when I did check in the process was smooth and the room was spacious and very nice, for a good price as well. I stayed in the lodge and had a great night. I would definitely suggest this place for anyone taking a trip to Talkeetna

A fantastic place with some even more fantastic views! The backwoods cabin we stayed in was clean, cozy and very well kept. The pillows were incredible! The kitchen had plenty of amenities to allow you to cook meals and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. I would 10/10 would recommend this to anyone coming to Talkeetna.

After we were told to take our business elsewhere (see my review of Denali Fireside Cabins & Suites), we tried the lovely Susitna River Lodging establishment, where we were pleasantly greeted by a charming lady at the front desk. I assume this was Darlene Hunter, as the owners are listed as Howard and Darlene Hunter. The reason I make this assumption is because the next morning at checkout we had a wonderful visit with her equally charming visiting brother Jerry and his equally wonderful wife Pam. During this chat we made what I suspect may be lifelong friends, as we exchanged contact information and vowed to stay in touch.What started out as a quick “Hi-and-Goodbye” turned into an extended chat that must’ve lasted well over an hour, perhaps even closer to two.The cabin was comfortable, clean, and inviting. As inviting as the people who own it and their relatives, I’m sure. Initially the cabin was on the cold side, but it warmed up quickly. Our particular cabin butted up to the Susitna River, which also afforded us fantastic views of the Alaska Range (but not Denali).We cannot recommend this place highly enough.

What a beautiful place to stay for a quick weekend getaway. We have been struggling with quarantine and finally decided to go out for a fun weekend while still being safe.Susitna River Lodge was the perfect place. It was so clean and well kept that we felt safe the entire time. The owner (who was working the main check-in) was super friendly and offered to help us with anything we needed.We stayed in cabin 3, it had a fantastic view of the river and easy access to the path down by the outside fire pit. The beds were literally the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in and the comforter was so cozy. You have to see For yourself what I’m talking about. The cabin didn’t have a TV which at first I thought I would miss but it actually forced us to play games, talk, laugh and just enjoy our company. We stayed for two days and one day we walked to town. A great walk that took maybe 5 mins.I highly recommend staying here. It’s a great place for friends and family get togethers.

Susitna River Lodging is a great place to stay in Talkeetna, Alaska. We stayed in a Backwoods Cabin, and found it to be comfortable, cozy, and very, very clean. It is just a short walk to be down on the riverside of Susitna River. Cooking options are somewhat limited, but there is a coffee maker, microwave, and outdoor grill in the cabin we stayed in. On our first day there it was very clear weather, and we had great views of Denali from the riverside. On the day we were leaving, I saw a white spot in the woods across the river, and on looking with binoculars saw that it was a bald eagle. Just a short distance from this lodging is Talkeetna Lakes Park, which has a number of great trails to explore.

Have stayed here twice now. Once in the summer and again in the winter. My partner and I absolutely LOVE this place! The floorplans of the cabins are very well designed. Views are stunning. Cabins are clean! Can't say enough good things about how much we love coming here!

Half mile from the town, easy walk on the road or through the woods on a trail. Also located right on Susitna River, with beautiful views. Our beds were located upstairs in the loft of the room, but for people who have difficulty walking up steps there is a pullout sofa bed which the staff was more than willing to make up (we had a knee injury before arriving so stairs weren't ideal). Staff were very friendly and had great recommendations for food and activities. Would definitely stay there again!

The cabins are in a perfect location on the river, but still woodsy, with a quick walk into town. The cabins are adorably furnished and designed. The best part is there was a reasonably priced cabin available that fit our family of 7 comfortably with other smaller cabins available. They are open in the winter and the summer. We were especially happy to have a full sized bathroom with a deep tub and a small kitchen with all the amenities available to us. We will for sure come here again!

Perfect stay at Susitna River Lodge! The place is very charming. Beautiful cabins and lodge by the Susitna River.The room was spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. Walking distance to Downtown Talkeetna.There are a lot of mosquitos by the river so I strongly recommend mosquitos jacket, mosquitos bracelets, spray with deet etc

Amazing area, right off of the main road by a beautiful river. The scenery by it is breathtaking. Beds are extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows and super soft blanketsEverything is clean and ready to settle into for your stay. Everyone at the lodge is warm and welcoming, very professional and politeI’d love to come back again if I can my next time upHighly recommend staying here for at least a night or two

One of the most beautiful properties to stay in Talkeetna! To top it all, the owner Darlene is the sweetest person in the world. She is the kindest person and picked us up at the train station since we didn’t have a vehicle. Then she took us around the town and showed us the spots to eat and get some souvenirs from! The place is setup really well . There is everything you need literally! It is so beautiful and cozy , you must stay here for a day or two! And my oh my the property has such beautiful views of the Northern Lights! You cannot afford to miss it on a clear day! We are going to come back again real soon!

The cabins at this place are absolutely wonderful! I got into an accident on the parks highway and this was the closest place for my dog and I to stay. It was a last resort for us but I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay up North. The management was very helpful and understanding, especially with us checking in at 3 in the morning. I will definitely be visiting again!

Great place. This hotel is quite and peaceful. It is near a creek and you can see the Mt.McKinley during a clear day. The hotel is big, we got apartment No.1 which has a second story on top. Seating warmly near the windows of the second floor and watching the mountain and creek outside are great! One of the killing element of this hotel is the darkness of the sky. It is 2-level darkness(For comparison, the arctic circle is 1-level darkness, and 40mile east of Fairbanks is 3-level darkness), which means you can see a sky full of stars during the night. And because we have a second floor, it means we can hunt for aurora or watch the sky without going out of the room(well.. the office building has some light and it could be a noise pollution)! Remember in the winter here is really cold. So this is a big plus for me.

Nice clean cabins near downtown Talkeetna. The place sits close to the river and is off the road enough to feel like you are in the nature. The cabins are well equipped and the lodge is open and has Kuerig coffee.

Susitna River Lodging is amazing! I wrote 3 pages of my thoughts on paper and lost the paper so this short review does not even begin to do it justice. The view is wonderful and the cabins where perfect. The owners were some of the nicest folks I have ever met! They do not advertise it but, if you are a Christian, that have a wonderful house of worship that you should take the time to visit. They have taken an entire cabin and made it into a place that anyone can visit. There is no doubt that this will always be place of choice to stay when I am in the area!

The cabin we stayed in was extremely nice! Rooms and facilities were great, lodging staff was super kind, and the beds/blankets were AMAZING! Be aware that they, like most places in the area, lack air conditioning in the cabins. Not an issue for me, might be for others. Highly recommended!

We were lucky to have gorgeous weather during our stay. The staff was incredibly polite and helpful during the check in process. The cabin was immaculate and very inviting. The cabins are right on the edge of the river, with access and an amazing view. We made use of the BBQ grill just outside th cabin and made hamburgers. We then transitioned to the riverside fire pit and made smores by the water. The cabins are stocked with some supplies to cook. Crock pots, electric skillets, silverware, cups plates and bowls. The beds are super comfy! They didn't look like much, but we slept very good. Overall we had a fantastic experience that was worth every penny. Highly recommended!

My family stayed in one of the riverside cabins and had a wonderful time! There was more than enough room for 4 adults, 2 kids and a baby. We brought food and originally planned to grill, but the rain caused us to move the cooking indoors. The location is beautiful! We will be staying again for sure in the future. The only thing that potential guests should know is that some of the cabins farther from the main building don't have Wi-Fi which could be an issue for some.

Clean cozy cabins with nice river view not far from a nice downtown area. Not tons on river bank, but the views are very good and the grounds nice. We didn't come for the wifi, but if that is important to you, you will be disappointed.
