Chinook Wind Cabins was absolutely perfect! It was our first time visiting Talkeetna and no idea what to expect. Mike communicated quickly and efficiently, was at the train waiting for us when we arrived and even gave us a quick little tour of the town. The updated rooms were very well done, and the little things like custom soaps, high quality toilet paper and towels were greatly appreciated extra effort to make sure our stay was enjoyable. I highly recommend using them whenever visiting Talkeetna, we certainly will when we come back!

Beautiful setting, comfortable and modern cabin, friendly and very helpful host. I recommend it highly! We were fortunate to get a great aurora show and a flight over Denali … ask at the office for a referral card worth $20 off at K2 Aviation.

These cabins are great! They’ve been completely redone and they did a great job with them; the updates are well appointed. Our family of 5 was very comfortable staying here. The cabins are very clean and the beds were comfy! It’s nice to have a place with good blackout shades finally! The owners were friendly and you can walk anywhere in town from the cabins. If you’re staying in Talkeetna, I recommend the Chinook Wind Cabins.

I stayed here with my family back in May from the 16th through the 21st, and am just now getting around to writing a review. We absolutely loved our stay here and would stay again in a heartbeat. Tracy and Mike are the sweetest caretakers of the cabins. I originally booked the Russell cabin until the 19th and then realized we needed to stay longer for our float trip on the 20th. For no upcharge from the Russell cabin nightly rate, Tracey let us have the Denali cabin for our longer stay which was larger and had a full kitchen which came in handy after our fishing trip. (We asked permission to bake our catch in the oven inside). They also offer to pick you up from the train station upon request which we were eager to accept. We arrived on the Wilderness Express train from Fairbanks on a cold and drizzly afternoon, and Tracy was there waiting on us and even offered us a driving tour of town before taking us back to the cabin. It was so neat to learn about Talkeetna from a local's perspective and where to find groceries and a good meal. We had views of the Denali range from the front porch of the cabin with some porch chairs and a table. The inside had a spacious living room and kitchen area with TV and DVD set up. The kitchen was a full kitchen with a full sized fridge, stove/oven, toaster, regular coffee pot, and microwave. There was a futon and sleeper sofa in the living room area. The bedroom has a queen bed and twin which was perfect for just me and my parents on our Alaska bucket list trip. There was also a lovely full bathroom with tub/shower and a separate sink area which was nice for getting ready in the morning. The cabin had heating and A/C as well which was nice on the warmer days. The location to town was absolutely perfect with restaurants and shopping only steps away from our front door. There was an outside grilling area and fire pit area as well, but it was rather rainy while we were there so we didn't use these. Tracy and Mike will also ride you over to the Talkeetna lodge to catch the charter bus with Alaska Tour Co to Anchorage/Seward upon request, which we were very grateful for as we didn't have a rental car. Absolutely the nicest cabins we've stayed at. Noting that photos attached are from after we unpacked.Walkability: Restaurants and shops were only steps away from the cabins. Downtown Talkeetna was a block or 2 away at most and was a flat non steep walk.

Brand new accommodations give you the privacy of a cabin and the cleanliness and decor of a five star hotel complete with microwave and fridge, coffee and coffee maker with an assortment of lovely teas and beautiful dishes. Next door to one of the highest rated restaurants, you still only have a five minute walk to the river and all th cute shops, pubs, and restaurants in Talkeetna. The beds were amazingly comfy and everything is new, new, new with beautiful accoutrements that make you feel at home, warm and welcome. This would make a great girls' trip lodge, but we spent a romantic cuddled up with Kill Bill on Prime on the big flat screen.

The cabin was very well maintained and we loved our cute, clean and updated room! The coffee maker in the kitchen was cleaned well that I could have a cup of coffee in the cabin (so many other places don’t clean the coffee maker well enough to want to drink coffee!). The owners went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable experience. I’d definitely want to go back!

We stayed one night in Talkeetna and the cabins were spotless and very comfortable! Definitely will stay again in the future. Outside area was fantastic as well. Mike and Tracy really take pride in their vacation cabins. Highly recommend!!Rooms: The cabin was very cozy and immaculate! The 4 beds in the loft area were perfect for our boys leaving mom and dad a nice and comfy bed on the main floor. Bathroom was great with a tub/shower and plenty of towels and wash clothes available. Kitchenette was adorable and tiny fridge and freezer were perfect for keeping our roughy along food cool! Wish we would have booked another night actually!Nearby activities: We did a float trip and a fishing trip for our group and would highly recommend those as well. So much to do we’ll need to plan another vacation to fit it all in.Safety: We felt extremely safe in Talkeetna.. had kids with us and allowed them to walk to different shops nearby without worry.Walkability: Walk ability was Amazing! We walked everywhere from the cabins!Food & drinks: Many options for dining and desserts nearby

The mayor of this town is a cat. That’s just the beginning of the quirkiness of this special place. If you go, and I hope you do, be sure to stay at the #ChinookWindCabins. Be warned that they use kerosene heaters so, if you’re bothered by the smell (like me), maybe best to not stay long. If they don’t affect you at all (lucky you!), be sure to stay! The cabins are beautiful, well stocked and spotless. The proprietor was very friendly and offered several helpful tips. Wonderful stay in a special place!

One of the nicest cabins I've ever stayed in. Very clean and very well stocked with supplies. Plenty of towels for all 5 of us to use. We had forgot to grab the extra diapers for the baby, went to the office to ask where the closest store was to purchase some. Mike was wonderful in sharing his babies diapers with us. Truly appreciate his kindness.

One of the best experiences here! Nothing but good things to say about our cabin and Mike the host. They were extremely accommodating and friendly! He even picked us up from the train depot and gave us a personal tour of Talkeetna. The Denali cabin was wonderful and well stocked! We loved our weekend getaway there!

Beautiful cabins. Well equipped, comfortable and a great location. Couple minute walk to Main Street for shopping, eating, and going to the river at the end of Main Street for an amazing view of Denali. Owners are very helpful with any questions about the area or suggestions for what to do or where to eat.

My husband and I booked here for Christmas day, and have had the most wonderful experience here. The owner is incredibly hospitable and accommodating, and the cabins are impeccably clean and well stocked for just about anything you need. They're also right at the beginning of downtown, and a short walk from the bars, restaurants, and other fun tourist attractions. The Cabins are open year round, and I highly recommend booking your stay in Talkeetna here.

We visited Alaska for the first time. We stayed in four different locations. Chinook Wind was the best! The beds were very comfortable, the furnishing were clean and well taken care of. The kitchen area was nice and included some nice extras like hot chocolate. The towels were super fluffy. The only real downside was the Alaska train comes through at 12 and 5 am.

Best service in Alaska! The hosts were amazing and so helpful. The cabin was perfect and cozy. Beds were comfortable and the whole cabin was spotless. I didn't want to leave. Will definitely be back and will stay with Chinook Winds cabins again.

Amazing cabins. Exceeded my expectations. Stayed in the Denali Cabin. It had a queen and twin size beds. Futon, couch, extra pillows and blankets. Each room has heaters. Full size bathroom. Full kitchen with utensils, refrigerator, oven and microwave. Dish TV and wifi. This is basically a small home away from home. The owners are friendly and really take pride in their property. If you are seeking a great place to stay while in Talkeetna, I highly recommend staying here. Breakfast at the Swiss Alaska Inn, which is really close by, is inexpensive and really good.

My family and I stayed at the cabins for two nights. We were impressed with how the owner had thought of everything. The cabin had a great kitchen space and there was a power strip, perfect for charging phones and devices. The owner provided great suggestions for things to do. The room was comfortable, quiet and clean. Talkeenta was a cute town with lots of quaint restaurants and shops.
