We had a fantastic tour with Michele. There were 11 of us, including 5 kids ages 7, 12, 13, 15 & 15 and this tour was the highlight of our trip. Booking was easy, we had the bus to ourselves and it was very comfortable. Michele was super knowledgeable about the area and its history and we really enjoyed our time with her. When she spotted wildlife she pulled over to set up her telescope in addition to taking us so many beautiful destinations. The musher camp was so much fun and Michele thoughtfully sent us pictures and videos she had taken from our sled dog ride. I highly recommend Trail of '98 Tours!

Our Skagway tour with Tom was the highlight of our Alaskan Cruise! We spent the day in clean and comfortable shuttle with huge windows to soak up all the amazing views. Tom was a wealth of information and even listened to our stories! I'm sharing photos of the reflection of the mountain on the lake that put Bob Ross to shame. And then the Emerald Lake that looked emerald in the light. So so pretty! (And this isn't even mentioning that we saw bears, arctic goats, bald eagles and more). Very glad we didn't do the train like every other person on the cruise. Our trip was special. His wife Michelle made us cupcakes for my parents anniversary. It doesn't get more feel good than that!

Our group of 14 had a fantastic tour into the Yukon during our Skagway cruise port in June 2023. If you are traveling with a group of family and/or friends, do not hesitate to book this tour! Communication with Michele was excellent, and Tom was a wonderful & knowledgeable tour guide. We travelled in a comfortable 24-passenger bus which gave everyone plenty of room to spread out, and Tom kept everyone happy with air conditioning adjustments as needed. We were blessed with beautiful weather, and Tom stopped at plenty of scenic overlooks between the Skagway port and our furthest destination (the stunning Emerald Lake), helping our group to spot wildlife along the way. We enjoyed exploring the town of Carcross on our own for lunch, and made it back to Skagway in time to stroll through town, check out the shops & brewery, and even hike to Yakutania Point & Smugglers Cove. Strongly recommend a tour with Trail of '98!

Fantastic experience. Private tour for just the two of us. Michele did an excellent job explaining the history of this Alaskan gold rush town - Skagway. After touring the town, we drove the Trail of '98 to White Pass Summit. Stopped at many breathtaking outlooks. Even saw a black bear meandering up the mountainside. During the course of the tour, Michele treated us just like family. This tour is very affordable easy trip to book and a much better experience than a large group cruise ship excursion. Great communication with the owner.

An absolute amazing experience! Our group of 11 had a wonderful time with Michelle during our day in Skagway. We gained an understanding of not just the beauty of the area, but the challenges that went along during the Yukon gold rush and so much more. Take advantage of this tour and if you can, go the whole 7 hours and extend all the way to Emerald Lake. I recommend stopping for lunch in Carcross as well. Michelle was such a delight to have as a guide for us and anytime we wanted to pivot and make a stop, she was more than willing. I can't say enough about this excursion!

Michelle from Trail of 98' Tours was amazing! Easy pick up at the port, then off to are adventure in Skagway. Learning all about the history of the Gold Rush, going into British Columbia and seeing the beautiful scenery. All while on a private tour in an air-conditioned bus with large windows to look at all the scenery. Michelle made a special point to recognize my daughter Paige's 18th birthday by making homemade cinnamon cupcakes. You won't be disappointed, so book with Michelle and Tom next time you're in Skagway!

We did the Carcross tour with Michelle on June 24. Michelle was great. We first booked in March, and there was communication up to the tour date on port conditions and lunch options. She took some nice photos of the group on the suspension bridge. We stopped for photos at the welcome to Yukon and Alaska signs, multiple waterfalls and overlooks, Emerald Lake, and for bear at both Caribou Crossing and the ride back. Michelle kept the ride interesting with fun facts. We also had a great lunch at The Bistro. Overall a fun day with a great tour guide.

Michelle was wonderful to work with to schedule our tour in Skagway. Tom was our tour guide who made the experience exceptional and exactly what we wanted. We traveled with our adult family, including my 83 year old Mom. Tom ensured the tour was great for the twenty through eighty something passengers. He continued at our pace, staying longer at some sites and leaving early at others at our whim. One of our party members realized a phone was left behind and Tom was kind enough to go back and even found the phone himself. The mini tour bus we travelled in was spacious, clean, comfortable and had large windows for all to see from. Trail of 98 Tours came highly recommended to us from a friend and I highly recommend them as well.

Our group consisted of three older couples on a full-day tour from Skagway to Carcross and Emerald Lake in Yukon. Tom did an excellent job as our driver and guide. He shared lots of information about the area and answered lots of questions along the way. He is super friendly and knowledgeable. The van is very clean and comfortable, and the large windows are perfect for viewing the grand scenery. Tom showed us so many amazing sights along the way, and he made lots of stops for us to get out and enjoy. We now have many incredible memories and pictures capturing our spectacular day with Trail of '98 Tours. We highly recommend this small business. Support good business.

We did the Yukon-Carcross tour with Michelle and everything was awesome! Her experience to tailor this private tour was invaluable. Knowing when to make stops on the way up or the way back and avoid the crowds. We were never pressured for time and were able to spend as little or as long as we wanted at the various stops. We were a group of 18 ranging from 6 to 70 yrs old and she made sure everyone's needs were met. The mini bus we were in was very clean and comfortable.Communication throughout the entire reservation process was excellent.Sharing her personnel experiences with us made our trip very relatable and the interesting and fun facts she provided kept everyone interested. I would definitely recommend using this family run business and when we visit Skagway in the future will use them again. We have ridden the train in the past but this private tour was so much better!

When planning our cruise to Alaska I wanted to find a unique excursion that would provide an amazing day, while also teaching my kids about the history and culture of the area. Our tour with Trail of 98 Tours did exactly this. Michelle took us from Skagway up to the Yukon, while making many stops in between. She customized the tour to be sure we got the best experience possible. She took into consideration things such as weather and crowds, and altered the order of our stops to make sure every part of the day was just perfect. We visited the Tutshi Sled Dog camp where we learned all about sled dog racing. We also spent quite a bit of time playing with the puppies and enjoyed a ride on an ATV pulled by the dogs. We visited the Yukon suspension bridge where we all successfully made it across and back. At one of the stops near a lake, Michelle taught my kids how to pan for gold, the old fashioned way. They even got to take some real gold flakes home. On our numerous scenic stops we used Michelle’s equipment to view mountain goats climbing on the side of the mountains. She stopped at a beautiful waterfall and provided cups for us to actually drink some glacier water. We stopped at both the Welcome to Yukon and Alaska signs, and Michelle took a great fun photo for us as a keepsake. In addition to the absolutely stunning scenery and the numerous scenic stops, Michelle also gave us a complete history of the area, and provided full details of the historical gold rush. Originally, we didn’t know what to expect from Skagway but we all agree that this day was the highlight of our entire Alaska cruise. We created memories that will last a lifetime, all with the help of Michelle and Trail of 98 Tours. Many people think the railroad trip in Skagway is the best excursion. The railroad trip may provide great views, but this private tour includes the views, as well as so many extras. If you’re looking for a personalized experience where you can learn about history while also seeing some of the most beautiful scenery around, I highly recommend booking a tour with Trail of 98 Tours.

Michelle was super sweet and accommodating for our Family of 4 in Skagway! She is extremely knowledgeable about the area, and the views from our bus gave you a whole new perspective on how beautiful the city is as opposed to just watching it all go by from a train window. The tour was Family Friendly and well worth the money and time spent during our short time in Port. The highlight was stopping off to drink fresh water from a waterfall. We can not say enough about the outstanding attention and experience we had thanks to Michelle and Trail of '98 Tours. Highly Recommended!!

Michele Was an amazing tour guide! She was very informative of all the different areas we went and was overall a very kind and amazing person. She made sure to stop whenever we wanted and stayed for as long as we wanted. She also went above and beyond by being our family photographer and even baking cupcakes for my sisters birthday! I highly recommend this tour not only because of Michele’s amazing personality but the gorgeous views we saw. Everywhere we went was gorgeous and had almost no other tourist around. She showed us the hidden gems of Skagway and I would use this company again in a heartbeat!

This tour was wonderful. It is privately owned by Tom and Michele. My family took the tour with Michele to White Pass Summit. It was two and a half hours. There are several stops along the way with beautiful views. We saw a mountain goat with an ocular device she had. It looked like a spot of snow on the mountain. You see the Welcome To Alaska sign. Take a coat. It gets colder as you get closer to the summit. Also you need your passport. The summit is in British Columbia, Canada. You also get to hear some history on Skagway.

I highly recommend Tom and Michelle. They were extremely personable and knowledgeable during our tour. 3 hours was the perfect amount of time, for our group of 14. It was our favorite day of the cruise between scenery, photo stops and just learning about Alaska. If you're planning a visit, don't hesitate to book with Trail of '98. Tours.

Tom picked us up at the port (4 seniors- one in a wheelchair) and 3 adults and 2 teens. The bus was SUPER comfy, and you could tell Tom took the time to make the windows SUPER clean so we could take good photos even through the window. The weather was gray and cloudy but Tom was upbeat and positive that the clouds would burn off. He gave us commentary as we drove past land marks. We drove into the Canadian side, stopped at a lake for pics and to view mountain goats. He had REALLY good binoculars. Then we headed to a musher camp and had a very entertaining time watching dogs pull sleds and we got to play with super cute puppies. He was very gracious and friendly, he stopped at nice spots took our family photos.VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We loved our tour with Michelle. She was on time and very friendly. Great knowledge of the area and took time to answer all our questions. What we enjoyed most was that this was a private tour just for us, while the other companies were jammed full of people. I would definitely recommend this company.
