This was definitely the highlight of our Alaskan cruise. It was so fun seeing the puppies and taking a sled ride with them. They explain the history of mushing and of the races and how they came about and talked a little bit about how the puppies get trained all the way up to being experienced winners. All the dogs that were guiding our sled were already seasoned sled dogs and have one a few races themselves. The trainers are super nice and even the ride up the mountain on the unimog was fun. The bus tour there and back told us some of the history of skagway. We also got to see wildlife like bears and eagles and on the way back they offered to drop us into town to tour if we wanted to. We declined cuz we had toward beforehand. But all in all it was really a great tour.

This was the excursion we were most looking forward to and they did not disappoint! Hilary, our bus driver and our initial tour guide, is fantastic! She shared great facts, details and stories about Skagway and our drive seemed like it was only 2 minutes. She filled the time nicely. Not that she needed to... The drive was probably the most beautiful bus ride we've ever taken! Saw golden eagles, bald eagles, and a little black bear!! At the camp, the Unimog was a highlight of the trip! Felt like a fabulous off road adventure getting up the mountain. Views were stunning! And we learned a lot during our travel up to the mushers. Our musher, Hannah, and her team of excited and enthusiastic hopping pooches were our favorite part of the trip! It's amazing to hear the dogs all revved up and ready to go! And once they get the ok, they go! We made several laps, while also taking breaks for the dogs to catch their breath. While they're happy to work, they're not used to it in the 76 degree weather we had while we were there. After our laps, we spent some time greeting the dogs, while allowing the shy ones to have their space. After we spent time with the puppies! We met Sam Sailor, who was adorable but a very dramatic yelper. We had a great presentation from a musher, who really gave me a new appreciation for what they do. This excursion was our Alaska highlight! Would do it again if ever given the opportunity!!

The dogs are so sweet and cute. The Unimog ride was fun. The guide who drove the bus (wish I could remember his name!) was super knowledgeable about the town and surrounding area, and he was hilarious. Spending time with the dogs was awesome, but it was also really cool to hear the mushers talk about the sport. I learned a lot.

Jenna was our tour guide and she is amazing! Out of all our port stops she was a favorite for us. Her knowledge of the area and of the excursion was very informative. This was one of our highlights on our cruise. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun excursion. I still think Boston wanted to go home with me. I had so many hugs and kisses from him. The staff is very knowledgeable and you can clearly see the dogs are well loved and taken care of.

What a cool experience! It was great to speak with the mushers and meet the dogs! The landscape is amazing and the guides were wonderful. We even got to hold the puppies! I only wish that the ride in the dog cart was a little longer. Lots of fun!

This was an amazing adventure! The dogs were so friendly and strong. They treat these dogs so well, you can tell. The ride with the dogs was a blast. I can only imagine what it is like to do this in an actual race with snow. Very professional folks, with a ton of knowledge about the races amd dogs, etc. We got to see puppy's from 3 days old to 6 months.

Our excursion with AlaskaX was amazing. We learned a lot about the area as we traveled to the mushers camp with our tour guide Denise. Our ride with John's team of dogs was thrilling and all the dogs were amazingly well cared for and friendly. We saw two litters of puppies, 10 days old and 10 weeks old.

Let me start by saying that up until the end, my family had a great time at Sled Dog Musher’s camp. Meeting the dogs and speaking with the mushers would have been a highlight of our entire trip, so far. However in addition to dog sledding, our package included S’more Roasting and Gold Panning. The kids enjoyed the s’mores and thought it was fun to roast marshmallows with actual sticks. The gold panning was super fun for our 10-yr old.The problem came as we were leaving the property. Our group was loaded on to our bus at which time the manager, Robert, boarded our bus to angrily inform us that a pan was missing from the gold panning station. He asked if any of us had it or knew where it was. We did not. So then, he proceeded to use scare tactics to tell us he would search our bags and report us to the ship and that the last time this happened the person was banned from the cruise line, banned from all cruise lines that travel to Skagway and from Skagway itself— for life. My kids were very upset. He proceeded to march through the bus searching everyone’s bags, and when he DID NOT find the pan he took out his small notebook and announced he was reporting our entire group to the cruise line.We were not the only group in that area. There were many many groups on the mountain and around that gold panning site other than our group. It seemed extreme and soured the entire experience. We had 5 additional hours to spend in Skagway, and we tried to make the most of our afternoon but ultimately our kids and myself were so upset by the treatment and experience, we skipped spending time in the town and went back to the ship. We would never recommend or return to a place that treated us with such disrespect especially over a $20 pan we did not take. I understand it was missing and needed to be addressed, but the WAY in which it was done was demeaning and frightening for myself and children.I’ve included photos of the fun part of the day. So, IF you go, stick with the pups and avoid the rest.

An amazing experience! The dogs are so excited to run and many of the mushers and dogs have Iditarod pedigree (Ryan Redington and more). Loved the sled ride and at the end if you're lucky, there might be some puppies to hold.

Cool place you will love it if your a dog person. This a was an excursion we took. It started with a drive from a super knowledgeable driver though gorgeous views. Then we all jumped in a una mog to get to the dogs. Once arrived you will be give a musher and pack to ride with for about a mile. When you return you can meet the dogs and their puppies. Very cool and informative people they can answer any questions and the views are awesome. A must do for a dog lover!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here! We booked through our cruise line and got to ride ~10 minutes with the sled dogs (not on snow), learn about the history of racing, see some 13w old puppies, and hold some ~5w old puppies. Such a fun time! ALSO the property and drive to the property is just gorgeous. Shoutout to Rose & Ross for providing my group with a great time :)

So enjoyed the ride on the dog pulled cart. The dogs were eager to run. Lovely ride up the mountain. Musher camp below was simple but nice. Fun to meet the puppies there. A lovely waterfall up a short trail.

We enjoyed our tour and were able to have a ride on a cart pulled by the sled dogs. Then we did gold panning where we were allowed to keep our gold bits Then we warmed ourselves by the fire and made S'mores. It was a fun tour and run well by the crew there. The bus ride there was pretty too and we saw some bald Eagles as well.

Great experience! Jimmy was extremely knowledgeable and did a wonderful job of providing geographical history and fielding questions from the group. The rides on the ATV and sleds were a blast. The up-close experience with the dogs and puppies were fun for everyone and learning more about the Iditarod and racing was fascinating. Even the rain couldn't damped this excursion!

The dogs will love you, and they want to run. It's their hobby and not just a job.The mushers have enough knowledge for a curious tourist. It doubles as a training camp so expect some fun.The ride is a simple loop and on wheels, so there's no worries about elevation or any jolts. It's very accommodating. There's a short walking distance between locations, but it's all flat.Oh and puppies. Go for the puppies alone.

We did the musher camp dogsled experience. The drive to the location is very scenic. Once we parked we crossed a small stream where salmon were starting to swim upstream. Then we loaded onto a unimog and rode to the top of the mountain were the dogs were eagerly waiting to take us for a ride. Once we got on the cart the dogs starting jumping and barking until the musher gave them the command to go. The smile on the kids and our face was great. We got to pet our sled team then hold puppies and talk to a musher at the end. We had a great time.
