I was stationed at King Salmon back in 84-85, the red dog was noted as a dive bar. Several of us went in and it was like stepping back into history, exciting and a tinge of danger, we looked around big knives, guns, trappers, dog on a table. When we walked in everyone turned to stare us down as a huddled group almost back to back we went to the bar, we bought beers and t-shirts and made our way out as a group. I laugh at the thought, notorious is what comes to mind. The whole area has seemed to grow. Learned how to trap beaver and turn it into a hat. Nicest people you ever want to meet in Naknek.

Talk about your hole on the neighborhood bar. This place was bought by a kick as gal name Melissa. She bought the place a while back it is a hole on the bar and just the attitude of Melissa and the bartender is amazing. Love the place. She has a lot renovate of course, the bar came with a hotel. If you are in town visiting Naknek,AK, stop by Red Dog. She needs seasonal help.

Great place to stop in, whether off a cruise 🚢, or not !!! Loved the atmosphere, service, merch, beer 🍻 and pretzels 🥨 !!! Highly recommend !!!

The staff is 50/50 kind and rude but this place gets poppin'. They have fun events and live music and there's usually a chill vibe here. Pretty standard bar food.Dietary restrictions: Not the place for restricted dieters.Wheelchair accessibility: Not the easiest place for a wheelchair to maneuver... maybe trough the back but there's gravel front to back.

There are not a lot of places to go here. We stopped in for a beer and a bit. Was not a nice place if you come from elsewhere, but for the area it is pretty good. Burgers were good and prices were not too outrageous (given the area). Decor is a little off beat, but fun. If you go there be sure to try the Dot's home-style pretzels if the have some - they were outstanding. Server was also a lighthearted fun person, so rather enjoyed it. Although I doubt I will ever end up back in that end of the world I would certainly go again if I did.

What's not to love. High energy, good food, they pour a real satisfying drink, the owners and staff are unusually interesting. More so than any other bar I've ever had the pleasure of working and drinking in. It's worth the trip. Mahalo and aloha everyone.

Good on the weekends especially during pre season and end of fishing seasons. Can get pretty packed during this time.Good selection of alcohol and awesome live music.

If you want the best food at the best price, Red Dog is the best place to go. You get big portions and the best value of any of the other eat-in restaurants either in King Salmon, or Naknek. You can't find any better.

Been going up to Naknek for the past three summers and when I have time to go into town I always stop in at the Red Dog. Prices are the best in town and I like the bar staff there more than other places. Shipwrecked all day!
