It's an okay place to shop once they got their act together. If you get your groceries, and no issues with self checkout - You're good to go. There's been some strange encounters here like out of a mystery novel but I learned ways to avoid the drama. It's just a grocery store, not a pivot point in your life people! Just a grocery store; keep it friendly and Fun :)

Safeway is the saving grace comparatively to Walmart here on Kodiak. Much like how the French were a foe to Great Britain (before Napoleon messed up) Safeway puts up a fight of savings and club cards against the expensive menagerie that Walmart has. While strictly groceries are sold here, you'll probably get your best shopping here for your everyday food-based needs.Also, why is the rice forbidden?

Expensive...start your shopping at Walmart..get everything you can there..then get the rest at safeway..I did a price comparison on 30 items..I saved over 50$ buying the 30 items from w.m...the 2 stores are in the same town and get their merchandise off the same boat..so why is safeway so much more expensive..?? If you want to save a lot of money, buy w.m. first..they don't make you jump through hoops to get a better price...safeway wants your private info to get deals or go through process of downloading coupons..just keep it simple..just go to store with better prices and no b.s.

Even though the layout of the store is quite a bit different than other Safeway stores I'm used to, finding my way around was still really easy. Which made my shopping experience much more enjoyable. I definitely don't like spending more time in the store than I have to. The employees were very friendly as well. Other than the fact that I was overcharged (for some reason I paid full price for a clearly marked "sale" item) I would have to say it has been the best Safeway store I've had the pleasure of giving my money to.

Safeway is a good place to get meat. It's a fine place to get fresh food and Starbucks. I don't have anything bad to say about Safeway, It's pretty cool. Would be cool though if there was a better selection of veggies but I get it, it's hard to get lots of fresh stuff in so like yeah it's still really good to get veggies :)

Clean organized easy to find items overall experience not bad even if they were missing Youguart icecream. No idea if they normally carry this item because I am not from here. At times the produce department is very skimpy and then other times it is amazingly full. Be wary of bakery items such as garlic bread unless your going to use it the same day and even then it might be worth looking at before leaving the store. Ours was molded. They always seem to be low on lunch meats too. Good selection for tourist items. Several things I want to buy lol lastly your better off buying paper products at Walmart to save some money but it's not really worth the time looking for food at Walmart as Safeway is the better choice.

They always have the organic produce section well stocked, and are open early and late so you can always get what you need. I bought a juicer because their organic apples are always on point! The deli staff are also great, they will fry up special items for you if you request (like Samosas). I just don't like going all the way in the back corner for milk, that's all. Maybe they'll put a small cooler up front for us cow-milk hungry lazy ppl. ;)

Nice store, friendly staff. Veggies and fruit are fresh. Only not great thing is often when i go in for a sale item it's not on the shelf and is already sold out the next dayafter the beginning of a sale, so not enough stock available per the expected need for a sale. Plus they haven't had eggnog half gallons for the past month during thanksgiving and Christmas coming. Other then those things decent selection and nice promotions.

It's Kodiak. Hard to get used to the prices, but.....It's Kodiak. Store is doing a good job getting re-stocked. Nice to see that the freezers are back in working order and good to see the shelves filling back up.

Delicious, hot, crispy fried chicken & strips at the deli here are banging good! We look forward to buying some almost every day for lunch here. So good with their little cup of ranch! Try the Nashville Hot Strips, you won't be disappointed. Warms the soul, far from home! Great job Safeway - employees here are clean, friendly and pretty cool. :)

Nice clean grocery store. Has what you need. Not the largest selection but great for Kodiak. If your moving here expect prices to be about 20-30% higher than the mainland. For Kodiak the prices are good.

The store is usually clean but extremly overpriced, but it's the only grocery store on the island unless you're coast guard. It does have a very good selection but the corned beef is TERRIBLE. Avoid that stuff. The staff are indifferent at best, but not rude. It is what it is, because where else are you going to go?

The bathrooms smell like they dip their mops in 100% urine and wipe the place down. Management should be ashamed of themselves for letting this go on for so long and if the health department cared about sanitation they’d be down there checking things out.Update: nothing changed in regards to the smells and sanitary conditions at Safeway in kodiak. A report has been filed with the health department.

Friendly, professional service. They work hard to keep stocked even during CV-19. Willingly help when asked. Always say hello and ask if u need help. They have a mask mandate in place.

You have no choice basically in Kodiak. This is a well stocked supermarket. Yet, don't look for a bargain. Everything is at least 3 dollars more than most lower 48. A very efficient and friendly crew.

Clean and friendly. Most days well stocked. Not thru any fault of their own, we're on an island in Alaska and freight comes twice weekly. Every encounter with staff and departments is friendly and professional.Safeway also supplies bush orders and has 2 lanes dedicated to larger multi cart orders (usually a fishing vessel or bush order). Inside is a Starbucks, a China express and deli, Bakery and an Alaska USA Federal credit Union. There's dining court to enjoy your snacks or a quick bite. Conveniently located on site is a full service liquor store.

Best (only) full service grocery store in town. Expensive produce, but we live on an island in Alaska so.... There's a small collection of vegan and vegetarian food options. Starbucks has a location inside, and there is a deli with hot food and sandwiches, a pharmacy, a bank, and florist. There is also a liquor store and a post office under the same roof.

The place where I usually do all my shopping. Great selection of food. A lot of organic and healthier type foods. Nice selection of pet food as well. Prices aren't bad if you have a Safeway card.

I bought chicken from the Kodiak safeway. The meat was spoiling and made me very sick! I I was vomitingsoon after thenn had diarrhea for hours the next morning. The store should have a better quality control policy..

Visited Safeway store kodiak Alaska, located at 2685 Mill Bay Rd, for a convenient and friendly grocery experience!From bakery and deli, to fresh produce and helpful pharmacy staff, i got covered! bakery features customizable cakes, cupcakes and more while the deli offers a variety of party trays, made to order.At the butcher-block i found an assortment of meat and seafood, even offering sushi in selected locations, while the produce department is full of fresh fruits and veggies galore!

I come to Kodiak every year for the Crab Festival. My business Is called Alaskan Soda Jerk. We get a lot of things from this store for the event. I am always blown away with how friendly and helpful the staff is. It is such a pleasure to do business with this Safeway. I look forward to seeing the crew again this year!!
