Good variety, decent sales. Friendly employees. Has a bank, florist, baker, deli, fresh produce(as fresh as one can expect when dealing with barges), meat dept and adult drink store. Don't want deli food? Go to taco time for some Lumpia and other dishes besides taco stuff.

I shopped there once (as a tourist) and was impressed with the store as I read a lot of very negative reviews. I found the store to be pretty much fully stocked (they were out of ice), the liquor store had a great selection. The prices are high, as is common in Ketchikan, but I found they had good Safeway specials - for example a 6 pack of Pepsi/Coke half-liter bottles were $10 but they had buy 2 get 2 free which made them a much more reasonable $5 (if you can use that many). It looked to me to be the nicest and largest grocery store in that city.

October 10,2023Since the pandemic there's hardly anyone there. A man named angus that used to own "the crab& grill" on the dock. Came up an tried grabbing me. Him an his cook harassed me. Which is why I quit after my first day. I was ready to clock him after. When I turned around he disappeared. This was back by the seafood an meat area. He's an entitled jerk!?#@ He better stay away from me from now on. It was in the afternoon. Which is why I usually have a courier get my groceries. So I don't have to deal with this nonsense.

Clean, most staff is friendly. Some of them are not so nice. Good selection, fair prices on most items. Good spot to get most basic needs for home.Update: self check out is a plus when they're functional, but a nice upgrade and convenient when open. Still would recommend.Update 7/8/22Store is still the same, clean and has most products in stock or can replenish them fairly quickly. Prices fluctuate and sales are usually still good. Customer service is definitely gone down hill quite a bit, not terrible but could use some room for improvement. Still a good store to shop in and maybe good Customer service occasionally.

I went to Safeway to buy my toiletries and food and I work in the ship and I need to be in work by 11am..I ordered chicken and I stand waiting and the manager name girlie always talking back and this is the 3rd time she’s doing that to me every time I’m early buying my food in Safeway I feel humiliated and everything she said..

Shelf's are quite empty. The price of beef is 15 bucks a pound. Two stores on this island and it seems that it needs more management in ordering and keeping Shelf's full. But the 15 bucks a pound for meat. Seems little high. I know inflation is high but look at the average then calculated shipping. To me they are turning a profit. Guess the storm will provideWhat I'm saying is I feel they are taking advantage of this situation in some of the things they sell. And if that is the case we should not do that to each other. Especially right now this is not about the employees this is about a corporation. The employees do the job they are told or instructed to do. The corporation sets the price and tells them what they can and cannot order.

Extremely slow, rude, and inconsiderate. We waited 20 minutes for our food because of a computer glitch, while the food is out getting cold. Manager comes over fixes it and employees continue to stand around. Multiple customers just left. Afterwards Manager gave us an attitude when we promoted them about our food and we left. Later seen then putting the food back in the hot case. Never eating there again.

The service was horrible and the prices were too high. This place was way better and didn't look like a dump in the ghetto, when it was SeaMart. Now, it isn't really worth going to, unless you are trying to get some of those maple bars, which are fabulous.

Over all great prices. They do run out of things but so does the rest of the island. Employees are pretty decent, some are great… Drive up and go though is a train wreck, I honestly wish they didn’t offer it if they cant do it. Phone line to button on the app does not work, you have to call in their regular line, drive up and go department is hard to reach so it’s a lot of time on hold. Always a delay from your pick up time you request. Currently tonight going without the groceries We already paid for for this reason. Its much faster and easier to just take a baby and a toddler into the store and grocery shop… which at that point there are easier places to shop that will help you taking your groceries to your car.

I do a lot of shopping at Safeway and always have pretty good experience there. I use there just for U app and I get a lot of rewards from time to time that saves me money. Have a great pharmacist and I don't have one bad word to say about the store. I like it today open up early cuz sometimes I need that in this area.

Not a good place to make a reservation. Called to confirm a week before our trip and 2 of the rooms were given away. Had to re-reserve 4 singles with a rollaway to accommodate the 5 of us. Charged $40 more than the website rate. No elevator. No A/C. The one room with a refrigerator had old food from the previous renters. The restaurant "Anabelle's" was way overpriced for what you got with bad service. Never staying there again, and wouldn't recommend to anyone unless it was the last place available. Side note-good water pressure. Bed was comfortable.

The store isn’t that clean but I go for the deals with the club card. It’s one of two grocery stores on the island and you can usually find the newer products to be offered here. The workers don’t seem to want to be there at times. The self checkout can be difficult and usually is your option unless you want to stand in long lines from the one or two checkers. They have all these registers but literally hardly use them.

Love this store just wish the parking lot was more level, couple of the drainage spots are like a nasty pothole that can damage your car. Inside I love how easily it is to find what you need because it flows so smoothly. All the workers are amazing too if you need an extra hand in finding something, or see if they are out of stock.

Good for canned goods, some fruit/veggies if you use them right away. Any dairy items (specifically milk/cream) is absolutely expired on more than one occasion before the expiration date.If you feel rich and like paying full price for expired dairy, this is your place.

Prices have increased weekly. Shelves empty in several areas and spotty in others. Deli very busy.Edit: They recently rearranged the store, which is always such fun(not) and apparently I'm not the only one asking where to find my entire list, lol, as there are now flyers with an alphabetical product location listing available by the entry doors. Sadly Senior Discount Day on Thursdays was terminated a few months ago without explanation. While the shelves seem fully stocked now, there is less variety and prices only go up, not down. A 12 can soda pack selling for $11.69 unless you buy 2 and get 2 "free" is their best "deal." Do pay attention when checking out. I was initially charged regular price for cereal advertised as on sale and sale items are often limited to two each. I purchased 2 petite sirloin stesks on a bogo offer. When I was putting my bags in the truck, I didn't see them after checking each bag. I returned to the check out and they weren't there. Apparently the bagger didn't put them in my cart and gave them to the next customer instead. Customer service did allow me to go get replacements but I would have rather not had the hassle at all.

Soup was absolutely disgusting. I will not buy the prepared food (salad/fruit/etc), it is out there before 9am. The new deli department manager is horrible. She looks at you and walks away. Does not even bother helping at all. She doesn't even know how to order. They finally have 90% of the coolers filled with meat and cheese but who knows how long that will last. They really need more than one person helping. They also need to be taught English, how to understand and speak it. I did not know I moved to a foreign country. 1/2 lb does not mean a 1 lb. The cashiers are really the only people that make this place. Some and very friendly.

I was amazed that the store could not keep the product on the shelf's. It took two weeks before the even had any heavy whipping cream. I couldn't believe that the produce was so bruised and not-so-fresh looking either but all in all the people were friendly and it was fast and Speedy and I could go right from the door to the car

Today I was a terrible customer. I was a big 6'5" "Karen." And who was on the receiving end of my Karen-esque hissy fit? Jean in the bakery. Although Jean probably never wants to see my ugly face again, and I don't blame her, she came through and was my hero today.If I fall off a ferry and need a life preserver, and Jean is the only person around and holding a life jacket, she is absolved from having to throw it to me, she has already paid me a great debt and owes me nothing. If I see a burning building and run inside and it's Jean, the Pope and the Dalai Lama, and I could only save one person, I'd have to save Jean.So I am sincerely thankful to Jean, and I apologize for ruining her day. She really didn't have to help me, I was asking for a special accommodation that she didn't have to fulfill, but she did. She could have told me to take a long walk off a short pier and she would have been justified. I promise I will ask nothing of Jean again, but I will always be eternally grateful for how she helped me.

The Shelves are always empty. Sometimes I find what I need but since inflation, covid and other factors, Safeway in ktn. Ak. Has really gone down hill. The other local grocery store always has there shelves full. I don't know the exact reason but this has been going on for at least 3 years and it's getting worse. I now only shop there because of convenience.

Great place to work for, everyone is so kind and helpful and welling to help you be successful in whatever you decide to do in and outside of the store. Shopping here can be rough sometimes with some items being out of stock and shelves being empty, but it is understandable considering we are on an island after all.

It's a Safeway, so... Are they really any different from each other? I will say that the produce is not as good as A&P post Barge Day, but it is slightly more convenient. They have self check out, which I love. Starbucks is inside. Fresh doughnuts each day. The pharmacist, Hannah, is so amazing. Kind, professional, and straight forward. Caught a drug error and saved my life! Deserves a raise.

A very interesting store but it was low on merchandise and from what I was told hard to find people that wanted to work but other than that it's a good place to shop the people that were working there had a hard job trying to keep up.
