I have to say this was the best place I have stayed in Alaska. The place is amazing to see. Huge logs make up the building and it has a 30 foot wall of windows in the lobby to watch for wildlife.I stayed here with my family and they had so many things to do we were never bored. Even when it rained (which it is certain to do in SE Alaska) they had rain gear and boots for us to use to go explore. We hiked up to the waterfalls and then down to the beach to look for bear, moose and wolf prints. In the evening we roasted marshmallows at the outdoor fire pit while the "adults" had wine in the lobby around the indoor fireplace. It was a perfect place for all ages.Safety: They had emergency lights in all the rooms in case the electricity went out.Walkability: Great hikes right outside the lodge.Food & drinks: The desserts were amazing. Fresh baked Bread....I could go on and onNoteworthy details: They have lots of lawn games and puzzles to keep everyone occupied.

Look no further if you are looking for the best place to stay in Gustavus, and the best food around. The Bear Track Inn doesn't advertise locally, but they have incredible Gourmet Alaskan Food at thier restaurant and the most an incredible staff. This is a top notch upscale lodge. If you are looking for a truely Alaskan place to stay while exploring SE Alaska look no further. They even customize your activities for you and your family. Go fishing, kayaking, whale watching, hiking, E-biking or Glacier touring. They do it all with a smile on thier face.Rooms: Spacious and comfortable. Private bathrooms in every roomNearby activities: Hike the trails right on property. There are E-bikes to rent to explore the town.Food & drinks: Best food in Gustavus. They do Gluten-free and Vegan if neededNoteworthy details: Have them customize your vacation to do only the activities you want. We went both saltwater and freshwater fishing, kayaking, and whale watching. The National Park is a short drive away to do the Glacier Bay Day tour.

The Bear Track Inn was a truly amazing stay. Visited with my family towards the end of the summer season and it was the perfect gateway to Glacier Bay National Park. Michelle (one of the owners) is incredibly kind and involved in your stay. All of our transportation and tours were coordinated by the Inn and were on time and we'll organized. They even made sure I would have a vegetarian sandwich on the all day boat tour of Glacier Bay. The staff was incredibly helpful and made sure you had everything you could ask for (including bear spray, bug spray, and even rubber boots!). It truly felt like you were part of the family during the stay. To top it all off the location was nothing short of amazing. Beautiful views and great stargazing at night. The lodge is cozy and welcoming. If you're looking to visit Gustavus, the Bear Track Inn is a no-brainer.

Had the most amazing time with my family at the Bear Track Inn. Views were absolutely stunning. Michelle and Dave (owners) are very involved with their guests and make sure that everyone is well taken care of. Food was provided for all of our trips along with coordinated transportation. We made sure that we were back at the lodge for dinner each night as it was fantastic. We will definitely be coming back to the Bear Track Inn when we visit this area again. We would highly recommend staying here. We stopped by the Glacier Bay Lodge and this location is a much better choice if you are looking for great food and hospitality.

I was an employee at the Bear Track Inn this past summer and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Alaska. Michelle and Dave (the owners) allowed for a safe space of employment and an opportunity to grow through experience. This job requires hard work and dedication, but offers lifelong friends, bucket list experiences, and a multitude of life skills.The Bear Track offers luxury accommodations in remote Alaska and is the best place in Gustavus to stay. All meals are included, excursions can be booked directly through Michelle, and transportation is provided. The property itself offers stunning views of the Alaskan wilderness that can be seen right from the back deck. Two trails are on the property as well, one leads right to the beach and the other is up to a stunning waterfall.Michelle and Dave go above and beyond for their guests and employees in order to give the Alaskan experience on both sides of the spectrum.

The lodge is absolutely beautiful and extremely well kept. Rooms are modest but well equipped in accordance with the rustic style. The staff are all extremely friendly and attentive -- literally no holds barred level of service from the family members that own the Inn as well as their staff. They coordinated our transfers, tours, and meals. All of the food was fabulous and timely. We did not get cell phone service in Gustavus, so we were reliant upon the Inn's wifi for any connectivity. The least important part of our stay, and I think the only thing that could be improved upon, was that the wifi is a touch spotty/slow throughout the lodge, but it is functional if you need it. I think it is probably worth unplugging and enjoying the wilderness regardless.

What a nice place. What really sets this place apart are the owners and staff. We went to Alaska just to fish. Michelle the owner was made sure we were there on time everyday and had our lunches. The staff that drove us and served our meals were awesome. They actually looked out for us and noticed if we did not like something and was very responsive. It was fun to listen to the staff tell us about their lives and why they were there. I did not get to meet Dave but I have respect for Michelle. Thank you guys. Looking forward to our next trip. Michelle, can’t wait for you to meet my wife next trip.

We went to the Bear Tracks Inn on a family vacation and this was such a great place for that as they treated us like family. The staff picked us up at the airport and gave us some island history on the drive to the Inn. The comfortable rooms and living spaces were great for relaxing and the outdoor areas surrounding the Inn were great for exploring and taking family walks. The proximity to Glacier Bay made it wonderful for our kayak trip and our day-long cruise up Glacier Bay (we saw a glacier calve!). And the staff was very accomadating, making us lunch one day at around 2pm when we got back late from a hike. Can't wait to go back some day!

Our 5 day stay at the Bear Track Inn in Gustavis, AK was very enjoyable. We whale watched, fished and visited glaciers by day, enjoyed great food and got sound sleep at night. The staff were attentive to our every need and can arrange for your adventures of a lifetime. The inn is cozy with a large comfortable great room and entertainment room. Cell phone service is spotty, but the wi-fi connection at the inn was good. If you are looking for an Alaskan wilderness adventure on the doorstep of Glacier Bay while enjoying fine dining and great lodging, Bear Track Inn is for you.

This Inn provided one of the best meals I've had in ages! The halibut chowder was perfectly balanced, the salmon with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes was a culinary masterpiece, and the blueberry cheesecake was pure indulgence. The owner, Dave, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and made the evening even more enjoyable with engaging conversation. Highly recommended for delicious food and warm hospitality!

I was a guest at the Bear Track Inn at the end of August 2022. I was brought to this wonderful place by my other half; he had been a guest here the year before on a Boys’ fishing trip. He kept insisting that I HAD to visit this place…that I would love it. He was right.The lodge itself is stunning; the ambiance and attitude of this magnificent building is true “Alaska”. Your hosts, Dave and Michelle Olney, strive to make sure your stay will be remembered for a lifetime. Attention to detail is their specialty…all outings are planned according to your personal preferences. There is so much to see and do in this beautiful part of the country! Or if you prefer to spend a day relaxing in front of the fire, sipping on a glass of wine while you take in the scenery and try to spot wildlife out of their windows, that can be arranged as well. The food is delicious, the staff is truly caring and attentive, the rooms are spacious and the beds are wonderfully cozy and comfortable. You will find yourself feeling absolutely spoiled but “at home” at the same time. Truly a wonderful place to visit; you will find yourself wanting to come back so you can experience it again!

We were at the Bear Track Inn for 4 nights and had prescheduled 3 boat tours. Unfortunately the time we were at the Inn included a storm front. Our hosts, Michelle and David proactively rescheduled two of the trips to maximize our possibilities for being able to go on all three. Unfortunately one of the trips still had to be canceled, but Michelle kept us apprised of the captain’s assessment of the weather and when it became apparent that we needed to change plans, helped us find a great hike to explore. The Inn was beautiful and unique in a beautiful setting. We found the scenery as fantastic as expected, but we also experienced extraordinary hospitality from the owners and the entire staff much beyond our expectations!

Great experience all around. They staff is very friendly and make you feel like you are at home the entire time. Dinner was amazing each night we were there and they made sure out daughter had something to each night from the grilled cheese, fruit, chocolate chip cookie and she loved it. Great hiking trails down to the water and nice flowers to see along the way. Our daughter felt so at home that she picked some flowers for the owner to give her before we left. They knew our itinerary and each night they let us know what time we needed to be up the next day for breakfast and what time to be on the van. We will definitely go back when we come back to Alaska. Thank you to all the staff at Bear Track Inn.

The staff at Bear Track Inn are attentive, caring, and always willing to go above and beyond. Our stay with them was wonderful, and I am hoping to see them again in the future! :)They are family friendly and located in the beautiful Glacier Bay, AK, where they can custom build an itinerary of excursions for you and your family. As a former employee of the Bear Track Inn during the summer of 2022, let me first say first say that I will be forever grateful to the kindness and generosity of both Dave and Michelle Olney (Oweners/Managers of the Bear Track Inn). While I am unable to return and work for them this upcoming season, this was only due to a progression in the job opportunities available to me and had nothing to do with my experience as a Bear Track employee. This is a common theme with the Bear Track Inn. While the inn struggles to retain employees, this is primarily due to it serving as a stepping stone for many who are either down on their luck or just starting out in the working world. Additionally, as pillars of the community with ties to Gustavus for 30 plus years, Dave and Michelle have made it a point to provide work opportunities to those within the local community of Gustavus. Any review that claims otherwise is attempting to slander the name and reputation of two kindhearted people.In regards to their service, food, and overall “Alaskan Experience” one really couldn’t ask for better in the Gustavus area:First: Their accommodations and food far outclass any other establishment in Gustavus.Second: They are the one of the few hotels in Gustavus that includes all three meals in the price of their stay (Which is a big deal when staying in Gustavus because there are no real restaurants and limited places to buy groceries).Third: The Bear Track Inn is located on a large property with access to two amazing trails. One trail leads up through the beautiful Alaskan mountains which surround the property, and one trail leads down to the ocean bordering the edge of the property. It is not uncommon for guests to see both Bear and Moose activity during their stay at the Bear Track Inn.A stay at the Bear Track Inn is an amazing Alaskan opportunity and I highly recommend it as a place to stay, a place to eat, and a place to work.
