This place was amazing! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the prices were reasonable. (Used bookshops can be very expensive.) They also are invested in having a community impact with adult literacy programs and education. It makes your purchases feel valuable and meaningful. If we are back in the area, I intend to visit again!

Forget-Me-Not Books is my favorite book store in town. MOST of the staff is very friendly and helpful, and you can't beat their prices. If you can't find the book you are looking for, let them know, they will write it down on a list and give you a call when it happens to come in. This is such an awesome service they provide.I also feel good shopping here knowing I am helping to support the Literacy Council.

I was here to donate books. I called and they said come right over. Friendly staff received and helped carry in books in boxes. They were quick to express their gratitude. Inside there are lots of books. They are organized but sometimes overflowing. Great place to find older one of a kind books at reasonable prices, while helping to improve literacy in the community!

It's my favorite second-hand bookshop I've shopped at in the last 10 years! Including bookshops I've visited in the lower 48. Great selection, prices, and even have book swag! I'll 100% be back!

Great place to look for used books. Employees are very nice and helpful, and all items are affordably-priced. They carry all kinds of books, board games, vinyl, movies, and other random items. Kids under 18 get a free book every Friday. Please don't buy the book I want. I'm stopping by tomorrow.

I was just passing through Fairbanks and so glad I stopped here - this is one of the best used book stores I have ever been to! There is a wide selection of books & reading materials including everything from new bestsellers to unique local reads. Everything is well-priced and in great condition. I really appreciate that it supports the work of the Literary Council of Alaska!

I'm in love with this little book store!!! I've found some good reads here. The prices are awesome!! The only place for cheaper prices around here are the thrift stores.

Great used book store. The prices are reasonable. They have books on every subject imaginable. The woman who is always working there, not sure if she is the owner or not, is fantastic!!! She will answer any question you could possibly have and is very knowledgeable

I love going in here! I was looking for a book one time and put my name on the list in case it came in. Within an hour of leaving they called to say they found a copy! Very friendly, very efficient!

This is not a giant book store, but it had such a fun selection. We picked up so many children's books. We will definitely be going back again.

Great place to find some good books to add to your, 'to read' pile. Most books are in the $4-5 range and the proceeds go to a great cause. Their hours are limited, but worth it.

I love a good book store. Found some real gems here... old obscure out of print classics. The Alaska and circumpolar north section is phenomenal. Knowledgeable staff. Literacy council back office doing great work in the community. Hosting G.E.D. testing as well. A staple of Fairbanks community life.

Went to drop off some books Monday, the counter was full, the employee thanked me. I came again Friday with two boxes, brought in one, passed a lady with two boxes, I went out grabbed my other box to drop off and the employee rudely asked if I had any more and said that they usually take large donations in the back, mine was not a large donation, the counter was already full, I actually had to move a box to fit mine. She never thanked me, that was it! Not donating books here again.

I have always enjoyed Forget-Me-Knot Books. I have recommended teachers, parents, friends and family to donate and purchase through the bookstore. I have always had a pleasant experience in the book store with the staff and even other customers. Until Monday, August 17 around noon. My 6 year old daughter and I pulled into the Literacy Council parking lot, looking for a place to park. The parking lot was completely full, which made me happy knowing the building was full of either volunteers, customers, clients, etc.. For the safety of my daughter and I, in that neighborhood, I did not want to park at the Local Bar or down the road by the Soap Kitchen. So I pulled around the back of the Literacy Council building, where I saw a bin of empty boxes, empty milk crates, and the large bay door was open. I peaked my head around saying “Hello?” and no answer. With a car full of books, and a 6 year old who needed to use the restroom, I grabbed a couple boxes out of the car and placed them near the bay door. I also had more boxes that I did not want the volunteers to have to lift, so I had used the empty milk crates to place books in. My 6 year old daughter got out of the car, willingly to help, as she knew how awesome it would be to pass on these books to someone else. At this moment, a woman and her helper (Heather), come out of the large bay door yelling “HEY! HEY! Excuse me! You cannot be back here! You must check in at the office first! You cant just do this!”, which I understand now that it was policy to do so. That does NOT give some one the right to speak to me and my daughter in that tone of voice. It was incredibly disrespectful, demeaning, and scared my daughter enough to the point of tears. I understand the person may have been a volunteer and it frustrated her to the point of yelling at a complete stranger, who mind you, was obviously unaware of the policy and was donating a great deal of books. That does not excuse the way she handled the situation. This woman could have explained to us the policy and protocol of donating books, in a calm and peaceful manner. After this woman had spewed out a couple more sentences of what we were doing wrong, she left and went back inside, leaving Heather outside with us. I loaded what books I could back into my car, and told Heather that I did not expect to be scolded for donating books, especially with my daughter. Heather replied, “We just don’t like people back here!. My daughter and I left the Literacy Council feeling as if we had done something so terrible, that my daughter asked if that woman was going to call the police on us.I am completely disappointed, even shocked, that this had happened. There is NO exception for a woman from the Bookstore/Literacy Council to speak to another human being that way. Ever.

Love the concept of this bookstore. Help support literacy of Alaska with this used bookstore. The pamphlet at the visitor center offers you a free book. Came out with my hands full of books. They were having a plant sale the day I went. Wish I could take one home but live out of state.
