Always a fun place to shop. They carry a very large selection of old fashioned melee weaponry from all over the world. It's my go to for zombie preparedness.

I like that three bears is growing enough to be in multiple cities I commute back-and-forth between Anchorage in the Valley and it’s a great stop to fuel up get a refresher. They have great discounts. The staff are very friendly, they’re fast and courteous too.

I would describe them as a bulk convenience store. Most individual item prices are significantly higher than competitors, and their bulk items are cheaper than your average grocery store but much more expensive than Costco.

The manager of this store is a JERK! He yells at his female cashiers, right in front of customers. The guy is just rude! I was there with my wife and daughter, and there were only 3 people at 2 registers at the registers, and he started yelling in a rude manor at a young Asian woman for helping another cashier bag groceries? So unprofessional, I was going to say something but my wife no. However, as we left, my wife and 18 year old daughter were PISSED and didn't stop discussing the incident all the way home.Come on 3 Bears, YOU can do BETTER!Try hiring QUALITY human beings for management that can at the very LEAST say PLEASE AND THANK YOU!Overall we like the store, and enjoy shopping there. ALTHOUGH they should sell hotdogs like Costco! 😀

Great local business! Usually I find what I need there, and the customer service desk is always responsive when I've got questions. Much nicer than making the trip to Costco. Their meat selection is great, and it's very competitively priced when on sale.

Very pleasant, clean store. I made a quick stop for just a couple of items. The checkers & other employees are well- trained, pleasant, and cheerful. The store, rest rooms, & parking area are clean & well-maintained. Great store!

A good local option to buy groceries. Has a bit of everything from fresh meat to camping gear. Has some stock from Costco but also smaller brands like Shasta and Western Family. It's always well organized and clean. The staff is very inconsistent in that I never see the same person, they never greet you, and cashiers are often not at their register. The barista and liquor sections are consistent and I enjoy getting hard cider in growlers here.

Clean store with decent food selection, full beer, wine, liquor stock (Including about a dozen Growler taps). Prices seem a little higher then other big box stores but your paying for the convience and location. Staff were friendly and store was kept clean and in order. Pretty full stock of sporting goods, guns/ammo, and fishing gear.

Good sized store with a little bit of everything. They offer some food items that you won’t find in other stores, l don’t believe I’ve seen alligator meat offered at Carrs or Fred Meyers. There is a large parking lot with plenty of parking space for large motor homes or vehicle and trailer. Also the convince of a spacious Shell gas station off to the end of the lot.

Pretty good selection if you’re looking to buy in bulk. If you live in the area don’t waste your precious fuel and time on COSTCO or Sams. Three bears has the same items for a little bit more, but at a convenient location. Great place to fill your growlers at a fiscally responsible price. Wide selection of items. You know you’re in Alaska when you can buy an assault rifle at the grocery store. If you have small children you could even treat this place like a zoo. They have many stuffed animals on the walls.

Terrible customer service. I received a Christmas gift from a good friend that bought me a utility knife from this location. The knife only has a bag clip. I wanted to exchange it for a pocket clip. When I went in I told them I got it as a gift and don’t have a receipt. The blonde lady sent me to the gun counter where the guy said “I can’t do anything if you don’t have a receipt “. I go back to the front counter and she says now she can’t do anything without a receipt. I said it was a Christmas gift I am trying to exchange it to buy something else. Her reply “will how do we know you bought it here.” Practically accusing me of stealing. What a joke. We have spent 1000’s of dollars in this store. She says “who goes exchanges without a receipt?” Come on, about everyone that trusts their customers. Lowes. Homedepot. Walmart for god sakes Fred Meyers. Not sure what planet she came from. But customers don’t appreciated not being trusted. If you ever buy a gift for someone you better just give them the receipt or you won’t get any help at this three bears. In fact just do yourself a favor. Go to Sportmans, cabelas, or Bass Pro shop because this place is a waste of your time.

The majority of the staff here are wonderful. There are 1 or 2 bad eggs that have soured my experience with this particular 3 Bears. I do love the store overall. Guns and coatxo size food always a win. They do a great job with community involvement.

This location offers great produce that is fresh, and a great selection of locally raised meats and vegetables. It has a great variety of food, and a good hunting and fishing selection as well. It's a great all around Alaskan store, will helpful staff. It even carries feed for livestock and poultry.

Had what was needed. Meaning the shelves were well stocked. Got in and got out. Mind you, it was a Sunday morning. But still smooth. Cashier guy was quick and efficient.

I just made a purchase here. I paid $45 cash and out the rest on my card. The cashier put $25 in cash on my receipt. I went back to fix it, and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a store.First off, I handed the cashier two $20 bills and a $5. I had it folded in half twice. I didn’t drop money. I verified it in the store before I paid. I am certain I handed the cashier $45.They have to verify the amount in the register. That’s reasonable. The cashier was asked if he would like a calculator, to which he responded “I am a calculator” and proceeded to count the register. That seems a bit odd to me; I’m disputing whether you mistook three bills for two, and you’re counting this whole drawer by yourself. No manager was present until he had his total. At this point, I feel they aren’t taking my request seriously. The teller was $10 under the proper amount. He also happened to “find a twenty dollar bill at his feet” which put his total OVER by ten dollars. His supervisor basically blew the whole thing over and said I could go to customer service, where they’ll take my name and number and review it later.Needless to say, I’m pretty upset at this point. They found twenty dollars right where I was 5 minutes ago, and a variance in his register means I’m lying?I went to customer service, where the supervisor proceeded to ask me ridiculous questions about this visit. They asked if I potentially dropped this money. I had folded it in half twice. It’s pretty hard to grab two of three bills when they’re all folded together. Finally, she stated her boss was coming in to further review this. Thank god! Right? When this lady shows up, the supervisor explains the request, and the supervisor looks at me like I’m a total fool. She literally asked why I didn’t notice the difference when I paid with my card, as though it was my responsibility as a customer to confirm whether her employee is doing his job correctly. They took my name and my number, I took my $20, and I left. I seriously hope I hear back from their superior. I felt blatantly disrespected by the people who were supposed to be helping me resolve my issue. I wasn’t even mad at the cashier at this point. I was upset I had to spend an hour arguing over $20, like I’m some criminal. In short, the level of disrespect provided by this employee is a direct reflection of the company and the level of service it chooses to provide to its customers.

3 Bears is one of my favorite stores. They have everything and at great prices. It's like a mini-Costco in the valley. I especially like the convenience of the one located at Birchwood. Since it's right off the highway, I can hit it up on my way home from work without feeling like I have to go out of my way on my commute from Anchorage to mat-su. Thanks, 3 Bears for always having what I need, at great prices and in convenient locations!

Three bears is a mile from my house. It's great in a pinch. They have good deals on bulk items (Costco) but if you need a few small things I'd go elsewhere or you'll spend a lot more than you're comfortable with.

Only wish they were closer to Anchorage. Great selection great prices. Each store in my experience has quirks. In the VALLEY KGB the staff seem real judgey and stuck up not so friendly unless your local. Birchwood seems to be the least of the judgemental stores. By far my favorite. If ooen I stop every time if I'm passing by.

As a shopper: Offers many bulk items that aren't carried at Fred Meyer, Carr's, or WalMart. One significant downside: Three Bears appears to have immense difficulty keeping things out of stock. Sometimes, things are out of stock for several weeks. As an employee: $12 an hour sounds decent if what you have in mind is a fairly run-of-the-mill job at an established retail/wholesale facility. As it turns out, my job position (which was described as "fast-paced" by the store manager during my interview) is supposed to be an 8-hour shift with two individuals. It had been cut down to one employee in that position with pressure to finish the shift in six hours. Drastically understaffed and rushed with inadequate training isn't quite the same as "fast-paced". Nice try though, Jeff.A few fellow employees had minimal concern for health and safety practices. They'd frequently leak raw chicken fluid on counters and floors with no urgency when it came to cleaning it up to avoid cross-contamination. Lettuce was frequently left out in the open to wilt overnight. Packages of lunchmeat were left improperly sealed. No matter how many times write-ups happened because of these instances, nothing changed. A lesser issue, yet an issue nonetheless - one worker was particularly negligent when it came to labeling products with the proper UPCs when putting products in the cases for sale. A lot of money was lost due to a more expensive item being mislabeled as an item that was a fraction of the cost. Conversely, there were several unhappy customers over items being mislabeled as a significantly more expensive item. This same employee also found it convenient to use the workplace as a personal dating pool, much to the discomfort of myself and several other workers at this particular location.Equipment malfunctioning and nothing being done about it was commonplace. As of early March, 2019, the rotisserie oven was frequently a problem - timer errors, temperature not being accurate/oven not getting hot enough, flooding, etc. I witnessed undercooked chicken being served to the public as though it was not a severe public health and safety issue. In addition to equipment not being kept to standard by management, workplace benches were riddled with deep cut and burn marks certain to harbor bacteria, regardless of how often the surfaces were scrubbed with bleach. The same knives have been used in the deli kitchen for at least five years - many are missing blade tips.All-in-all, Three Bears is a fantastic place to purchase in bulk without paying a fee for a membership card. But to work here is to be complicit in an inevitable salmonella outbreak and validate negligent managerial practices (with the exception of Tasha - she was always a stand-up woman who did her job exceptionally).

Went very well actually until checkout. Had to show my ID along with my credit card because I was making a large purchase, hummm!!! Have been making large puchases at Costco for.years, not once did I have to show rhem the credit card I was using was my own. I guess u need to be the right color to have money. Sad really.

Place has what I shop for and it is very conveniently located for me. 5 stars because this location was up and going same day we're all dealing with this earthquake damage. It was slow going on this day but the staff was still getting customers what they needed and back out the door. They looked tired. Thank you.

Great place to go since they sell Kirkland (Costco) products and it's closer to my home than other big name bulk stores. Convenient, friendly staff, and easy to find what you are looking for.

Worst store in the area. Rude employees and management. Awful prices that ring up wrong frequently. Always understaffed and run with absolute incompetence. Management is an absolute joke. You can get the same items for less as the gas station down the road.

Convenient and very much needed for the Chugiak community. Prices reflect the convenience. Store also sells guns and ammo at decent prices and their liquor store has a growler bar!

A good mash-up of "wholesale / bulk warehouse" and regular grocery store, with emphasis on discount pricing. Especially convenient for folks who don't live close to one of the big-box warehouses.
