Every time I've gone the employees are very cheerful and helpful. They are always willing to help me find something I need or see if there's anything in the back.

I usually love the sandwiches but today I ordered a sandwich from the commissary and it had one slice of meat on it. Across the whole sandwich there were three pieces spread out which seems like a rip off to me.

This is one of my main go to for shopping. It is a little out of the way for me but still worth it for the prices. Like 70%-80% of the item are cheaper than other stores. I would say it is mostly produce that costs more. Overall cheaper. Avoid the busy times if you can. And dont forget to tip your bagger, they work for tips.

Must have base access to shop at the commissary. Generally speaking I enjoy shopping at the commissary and find the prices better than out in town prices. Selection and availability is my only complaint. They are often out of items that I want and have to purchase out in town anyway.

They jack up prices a day before and after payday. The only good thing about the commissary is the deli.

EDIT: While there seems to be an explosion of price gouging, there definitely seems to be an adjustment in prices recently to reflect those from stores off base at a lower price. While Costco still provides more benefits, I can go in without feel like I'm just being taken advantage of.-----With all the inflation, the commissary seems to have failed the service members who shop there with some prices that have grown faster than others. For me, Costco is the only place I trust for getting the best prices that aren't as inflated. I just hope they haven't joined in on the price gouging game.In these times, maybe the commissary should stop making people hunt for deals and just automatically give the coupon/discount price.

I love that they’re cheaper than most stores & most of the time it’s clean. Customer service is always great. But, the produce here are AWFUL. Most of the time they’re moldy or go bad quickly. Also, since COVID hit…they’re always out of some or most items resulting in me making extra trips off base to other stores.

The Commissary has good prices despite the Biden inflation crisis. Everyone is so nice and helpful here which is why my wife and me love to shop here. P.S. Be kind and tip your baggers if you want to be cheap go to self checkout.

Prices are fairly good on some items but the produce is just awful and rotted. Meat workers in the back are very friendly and helpful. I am just giving stars towards the cheaper prices and friendly workers who helped me find the meat I needed. 3 stars were lost because I constantly have issues with the Filipino workers on register 1. Each time that I come by they are very rude. I have a SNAPS card to purchase food for me and my family and the workers on register 1 were embarrassing me saying it’s food stamps and not a debit card- which is unbelievably rude and offensive considering my financial situations. The lady said i had a “food stamps card” out loud for many people to hear and I think that’s very inconsiderate and unprofessional of her to do that to customers trying to feed their children. The 2nd time was when the bagger lady was being passive aggressive when I didn’t want my groceries pushed out to my car when they didn’t even ask me in the first place. It made me have a bad day because she talked to me like a dumb child. I understand their job may be stressful but don’t talk to your customers this way. Manager needs to either get rid of these employees or better train them because they are very rude people. The ladies on register 1 need to take notes from the meat packers in the back because this is ridiculous customer service.

Lately they've been out of quite a bit of things. Prices are pretty remarkable. And the missing inventory does seem to be improving slightly over the last month. But you never know if you'll be able to get your entire shopping list or not.A positive is the staff is pretty nice. And the produce guys always seemed to be genuinely pumped up to help you out. I mean with a contagious energetic way.. Like, I don't really exercise.. But those guys in produce really put people in a good mood, and I find myself wanting to go for a run after seeing them. I mean, I don't actually run, but I do consider it. Lol.

Prices are up and down and all over the place, good in some areas and crazy in others. For example, milk was way more expensive here than at Target, but somehow some of the produce and sushi are actually a little cheaper than stateside. We had to watch ourselves a couple of times to not get crazy and buy what seemed like a good deal and shop elsewhere for the rest.We didn't see any issues with lack of inventory, but we may have caught it on a good day. Overall, a big Commissary with a pretty good selection (all things considered), and was your typical experience.

Manager was rude! We tried to enter self checkout and she told us we had more than 40 items... we had 32. Her facial expressions and tone were completely unnecessary. Prices are ok so we'll be back, but next time, she can count the items. Other employees were super polite and friendly.

I gave a 5 Star rating only for the convenience of the Commissary. As for the Prices, they are easily beaten by other local retailers and Vendors. I would expect better prices to, "Thank those who have committed their lives to the USA".Not given to people who say one thing and abide by their own Profits as a means of appreciation!

Staff is friendly and helpful. Especially in the produce section, there are always cheerful greetings. If I need help picking good produce, the produce staff is always willing to share their expertise. The aisles are easy to follow and the product on the shelf is actually what is on the label. The meat department never treats you like an inconvenience when you need help with cuts of meat or request cryo packs.

Nice large commissary with great produce, fresh seafood, cold cut deli, and meats. The selection of things like whole brisket and pork bellies is better than most stores in the lower 48.

As far as commissaries go this one is pretty nice. There's a couple problems with it tho. For some reason some reason some items are insanely over priced. For example, a veggie tray will cost you close to $20 but if you go off base you will find the same test for $7 - $10. They're meat prices are pretty good, i will admit.

Good deals on canned veggies and fruit, but missing items... ongoing issue with Quaker Rice Cracked. Fruit juices are above market price and meats went up a bit since last visit. Still a great place for deals, even if it is AAFEES.

The people are general nice and very personable. However, you have to be careful shopping here because the prices on, roughly 85-90% of items are HIGHER here than at the local chain stores! The availability of selections are not that great either. Half of the time shelves are bare in the meat dept, eggs, packaged meat such as bacon and lunch meat. Milk is over $5 a gallon! I can go to Sam’s Club and get a gallon for $3! Seeing how the military has JBER as an “Overseas” base, it’s pretty sad.

Lots of options, decent pricing, deli meats are cheaper than fredmeyer. A lot of sugar free bakery goods and in the freezer section I notice a lot of vegan processed food options. Kind of annoying that you have to have your military ID to go shopping though.

Prices are very reasonable, although the produce can be iffy. Some things are good. The baggers being volunteers is a little awkward sometimes especially since their bagging skills can be so-so - don't forget to throw in a little tip!

I like this commissary and I think it is one of the bigger ones I've been to. It has alot of good international selections. I do feel that alot of their dairy and produce have lot alot of their shelf life before you buy them. The milk and eggs typically expire within the week and they are more expensive than any where off base. The people that work here are typically very nice though and they are helpful on the sales floor.

While some of the staff members are very friendly, the produce here is absolutely horrible a lot of the time. Specifically the strawberries, blueberries, and baby tomatoes are consistently moldy when you buy them. The avocados are either frozen or too ripe to pleasantly eat. The shelved goods are frequently expired as well.

Clean, well stocked, produce looked fresh, some prices were a little high on certain items but lower than average on others. Was not busy. Shopped at 1pm on a Monday.

Awesome prices on meat, pretty large selection on variety of foods, produce is usually pretty fresh only thing indontI give five stars for are the wait time to check out, usually a long line but the baggers are awesome and work only for tips, so tip your baggers well!!

Friendly staff all through the establishment. Their sushi is the best me and my Japanese friend have had in Anchorage. Prices are good for quality stuff and at a convenient location.

First off, I love the Commissary, but this Commissary is the worst at keeping the shelves stocked. I have been to Commissaries all over the world, and never seen one run out of stuff the way this one does. Also, I don't understand how some of the off base grocery stores can regularly beat their prices on every day items. In the end, I'll still come back here, as the meat prices are the best, but I'll probably continue to be disappointed unless the management figures out how to do a better job of keeping the shelves stocked.

Prices and quality are great! It may be possible to find some items at a lower price but you don't get the nice environment and helpful people I have found here.

Good prices on most items. Some items are more expensive than off base (like bottles water). The place is clean and always has a fast check out.
