My mom had been raving about Boondocks for years, I finally went on Friday and can say it was not overhyped at all! I got the sample platter (wings not shown in the picture) and a peach wine slush. The wings were amazing, super crispy skin and good flavor even though they’re plain. The Captain Carolina sauce was my favorite to dip/mix with. Everyone working was super helpful despite how busy they were, and patient when dealing with our party of 8. At the end of the night, I hadn’t finished the peach wine slush, so they gave me a cup and sealed it for me so I could finish it at home. I also had 1 scoop of their chocolate ice cream which was great, will need to wait for a freak shake I’m interested in to come around. Would definitely recommend to anyone for good food and atmosphere.

Exceptional! Great food, wonderful service and super friendly staff. I got a rack of ribs to share with my husband except I didn't share and there weren't any left overs! They had just finished smoking 16 racks when we came in, by the time we left there was one rack left. My husband had the brisket and it was wonderful as well. The ice cream was great and the waffle cone was crisp and fresh. We were traveling with a little baby and a service animal. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The chief was having lunch in the dining area when we came in. He chatted with us and made a bunch of recommendations the help my diabetic husband choose something that wouldn't mess up his blood sugar. Later the chief was back out chatting with us and the other dinners. We left with full bellies and happy hearts. What a treat for 2 tired travelers. I hope our travels will take us past this place again soon; if your's do you'd be crazy not to stop... And get the ribs! :)

Great place to eat! We eat here or get an order to go at least twice a week! Best BBQ you can ask for with a great atmosphere! Super easy to get great food after going to the lake. They even have treats for the four legged customers! From the owners to the staff they always make you feel like they appreciate your business. Make sure you try the BBQ Egg Rolls!Parking: Easy access to parking and the drive through even when pulling a boat!

Great little place in Wedowee. Food and service are top notch and fast. Not a fancy restaurant, but if you are looking for bbq they have what matters. We will definitely be back if we are in this area again.They are very welcoming, but be aware that they are not pet friendly. Also, the small, clean bathrooms are on the outside of the restaurant.

Wonderful BBQ place! The sauce was freakin delicious! This place is super cute, clean, delicious, and perfect service from "Chloe." And it was fast! We had pulled pork and brisket sandwiches with Mac-n-cheese and baked potatoes. ALSO! The homemade ice cream is delicious! We had butter pecan and strawberry. DONT MISS IT!! 😋

High quality food that I enjoyed & I’ll be back because it is really good. Staff was lovely & willing to hold my butter pecan shake order until I was ready to go. Their wings looked amazing too but I’ve got to get the brisket potato next time. Some of their items say spicy but they are far from spicy & if you want jalapeños with your bbq you’ll have to bring your own.

Nice little place out in the country! My favorite is the Saint Louis style ribs orginal (so good) and also the brisket sandwich.To top it off they actually win competitions with their ice cream 🍦 gotta check em out!

So my five stars belong to the Carolina slab of ribs that I ordered to go and the egg nog ice cream. The ribs were the best I've tasted, I mean the BEST. I did not bother with the sauce it was that good!! No wonder they were down to the last slabs when I arrived.. That says it all really! The ice cream was rich and tasty. I was not enamoured with the butter pecan but the egg nog was awesome. Staff were very nice and helpful and service was prompt. I even bought a tee shirt to remember the experience. Highly recommend eating here. There were lots of seating and it is jeans and tee shirt dining. Get there early if you want the ribs. Sadly they only open from Thurs-Sun so I just got to sample the goods on my last day of vacation in that area.

First time here today and I’m calling this place a Wedowee favorite. The staff was friendly, the food was out to us quickly and was hot and delicious. We got the sampler platter and can say that all of the smoked meats were excellent. The stew was a bit tomatoey for my taste but was decent. The other sides were all very good.Our friends got the ice cream to go and they say it’s consistency good.

I saw on google maps the location Boondocks on the lake and thought we would give it a try. Then saw in the reviews it was closed. BUT, no worries, I called to confirm and they said that it had closed but their main restaurant wasn’t too far. He gave me an address that took me to someplace an hour away, so I simply search Boondocks and found it on US 431. We were greeted warmly, customer service overall was top notch and now let’s talk about the food. I ordered the smoke wings and my husband got the rack of ribs. Bothe we’re outstanding but I must admit that I loved the ribs the best. Truly some of the best ribs I’ve ever had and I’m 60 years old! Their spicy sauce was so good I purchased 4 jars!!! Can’t wait to have a party at the house and use the sauce. We were just driving through and this place was well worth stopping!!! If I lived nearby I would go often.

Rarely do I rate anywhere 5 stars as that would mean it's perfect. But we've been several times and it's good enough we drive from Douglasville GA just to eat here.I always get the ribs, my wife usually a brisket dish of some sort. The salad isn't exceptional, but surprisingly good for BBQ place.We like the patio area and always eat on it weather permitting.Happy they sell beer (except on Sunday).Love the butter pecan ice cream. Normally take some home with us when we have our 12v freezer with us. My wife loves the mint chocolate chip.

It's small town, and love it. Convenient for a quick bite on the way in and out of town. The family who runs it and the staff are all super genuine, treat everyone like they know them, and have not once felt like an outsider; which can also happen in a small town. Love Wedowee, and if you haven't stopped in, it is definitely worth it. The BBQ, sides and sauces are all good.

Boondocks is a new BBQ joint juat off highway 431 north to Wedowee in Randolph County, Alabama. They have incredible food, and a fun atmosphere in their restraunt. The walls are mesh screens, so as to keep the bugs out, but let in natural light. They have many ceiling fans, so don't worry about baking in here either. Try some of their delicious food, ranging from pork, beef, chicken, to vegetables and fruits. And for dessert, try one or more of their ice cream flavors. They are really good, and recommend them very strongly.

We have dined here for dinner. The bar b que is tender and flavorful. I enjoy the sauces that they have. We also stop by for ice cream which is MADE IN HOUSE. My kids love the atmosphere. Staff is friendly and the owner is great. A must to try when you are visiting the area.

Got the sampler and loved every single thing! The brisket was a highlight. It had a light crunchy bark and super tender and moist meat. Also couldn't leave without buying a couple of bottles of the Spicy Bouy and the Carolina mustard sauce. I really hope they ship sauce because I'm going to be using it a lot at home with my grill. Friendly staff, great food and wonderful ice cream. The guy that smokes all the meats was walking around and speaking with all the guest. I will make the 2 hour drive again and again to eat there.

Just go.... You will love it if you like good BBQ. The milkshakes are amazing. Good portions and friendly staff. Open Thursday through Sunday. Wish they were open everyday.

Boondocks has awesome barbecue pork and ribs! The brisket was also good. We’ve not tried the chicken yet. I love that there are no big globules of fat lurking in the pork. The BBQ sauce is a little different but quite good. It’s sort of a blend of KC Masterpiece and a vinegar based sauce. The ice cream is delicious! I’m not a fan of nut ice creams but their fresh roasted butter pecan is super yummy! Lastly, they have treats for our dog when we go through the pick up line. Wedowee is lucky to have Boondocks!
