The lunches and dinners in Tompkins Hall could use a bit more work. But other than that small issue, it's a great campus! Would love to get more restaurants around the university. But one thing at a time!

Great Campus and very interesting Museum. Would be great if there were tours inside of some iconic buildings like the labs George Washington Carver used to teach his students.I suggested an edit to the location. The visitor parking is at W Montgomery Rd, next to House Oaks. Park here and then walk to the Museum, entering the gate to the left.

This is not closed, they just moved the location into the Carver House Museum on the Tuskegee Campus. Go to the gate, tell them you are going to the museum, they will point you in the right direction and boom, you are in the NHS home for Tuskegee Institute. It's very interesting and I was amazed at all that Carver achieved and for helping as many people as he did. He is a true hero. Definitely don't miss this part of the national parks locations.

The air museum was awe inspiring. The aircraft, the movie about the Tuskegee Airmen and everything there sent chills up my spine. When I left there, not only did I learn things I didn’t already know, but I was soaring through the clouds with them. Really a GREAT exhibition.

The campus is beautiful. The thing I loved most about our your is the student guide's storytelling capability and hearing about the university's vast history from the buildings, the cemetery and its connection to American History. If you have a chance to visit the beautiful campus, make sure you schedule a guided tour.

I did not get to see the Institute do to closer. Alabama is still shut down due to Covid. What I seen was amazing and the lady I talked to was wonderful and kind. She explained the closure.

Maybe we came on an off day, but the air-conditioning wasn't working and we never saw a NPS employee? Only the bookstore cashier. I learned a lot, but felt like the museum has the potential to be so much more! I would have loved to have seen a replica of his lab and some better grounds upkeep. Still, very much worth your time to visit!

This monument is a must-see for any history guru. I felt like a tourist taking tons of pictures and just taking in the sights. Tuskegee is such an important part of Alabama history. They have a beautiful campus and I'm sure all of the alumni are proud. A cornerstone of the HBCU family.

Going back in June to learn a little or a lot more. Needed help finding the correct building. Oh what a beautiful campus. I hope my learning will be aided by a knowledgeable person this trip.

I learned at this place that African Americans contributed tremendously to Americgenetiicstory (for example; Henrietta LacksThe designation HeLa is derived from the name of the patient, Henrietta Lacks. ... HeLa cells were the first human cell line to be established and have been widely used in laboratory studies, especially in research on viruses, cancer, and human genetics.

The early history of the Tuskegee Institute is very well preserved and presented in the home of Booker T Washington and the George Washington Carver Museum. The tour of The Oaks, Booker T Washington's home is a must. See Booker's office and his beautiful home as the park ranger tells wonderful stories of the family. The museum of George Washington Carver's wonderful contributions to agriculture and new product development along with countless artifact from his time in Tuskegee are displayed here. Park by The Oaks and then the museum is a short walk from there.

So educational! The staff was friendly, and the George Washington Carver Museum was so informative and well-organized (though not the easiest to find). I will be back!

I am a travel writer for National Park Planner and I visited Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site in July 2014. Located in Tuskegee, Alabama, the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site is the only National Park dedicated to a college campus. Created in 1881 by the Alabama State Legislature as the Normal School for Colored Teachers at Tuskegee, the school that started out in a small building on the grounds of a church soon grew into one of the premier Historically Black Colleges in the United States. The school is now called Tuskegee University, the name changing from Tuskegee Institute in 1985.The National Park Service operates just two facilities in the park, the George Washington Carver Museum and Booker T. Washington’s home, The Oaks. The museum also serves as the park’s Visitor Center. Washington, the black community’s leading spokesman and one of its top educators, was hired to run the school from the start by founders Lewis Adams and George Campbell. He brought promising botanist George Washington Carver to the school in 1896. Carver would go on to acclaim as a chemurgist, one who creates usable industrial products from plants, and is most famous for his work with peanuts, inventing hundreds of products from this legume.Visitors to the park are also welcome to walk around the campus to see a number of the original buildings still in existence. These building are not open to the public, but information signs at the front of each one gives a short history of the buildings. For complete information on the park and plenty of quality photos, please visit National Park Planner (npplan).
