Last week I came in to adopt a kitten. I left with THREE of the most adorable kittens I've ever seen! My husband calls them "peeps" because they cuddle in their bed and each one squeaks a meow followed by the others. The staff were amazing and so caring. Thank you!

Loving, caring staff. You see them always cleaning the kennels and floors. Never have I heard a harsh word to any animal.Please go volunteer, walk a dog, wash some water bowl or bedding.The voiceless ones deserve our best.

Animal shelters are places you wish didn't have to exist. But Colbert County Animal Shelter is one of the best. The staff really love these animals and work hard to find adopting homes or foster homes. Please go find your next new family member there.

The team at Colbert County Animal Control does a tremendous job, a thankless job, and often a heartbreaking job that most of the people in the county would never want to do, don't know about and don't care about. They are terribly underfunded and the staff is very underpaid. There are more unwanted dogs and cats then they can handle which is a very sad scenario. But the people who work there have their hearts on the right place. They just need more support from the community and more money from the county.

Very caring compassionate staff. A stray cat had been hanging around our place for about a week. Couldn't bring him inside as my husband is allergic. At first did not want to feed it because we didn't want her hanging around but when she wouldn't leave we fed her till we could get her to a no kill shelter. They were supper kind and caring to her. Her name is See no if anyone is interested. They said she is approximately 4 months old. She is very affectionate unless food is involved and I only think that's cause she was starving when she came to us. Very clean facility also.

I have sent them tex and called them about my dog that is missing and asked to post on there Facebook page and that haven't but r posting everything other ppl ask for there help and I know y they r not doing it for me it's cuz the guy that is running the place

The people that works there was very polite and helpful - I was very pleased with them.. They took very good care of my puppy "Hambone" I am grateful that I found him well taken care of and that he was safe..

I adopted a dog in June this year. Staff was so helpful especially Diane who spent a lot of time with me & knew so much about the dogs. I adopted a 1 & 1/2 yr old black Lab mix named Reggie. He's my heart. Thank you to the staff for all you do for the furbabies in need ❤️

The shelter is a shelter… it’s dirty, loud and needs updating. The city should help them more. Most of the animals were sweet besides some dogs that seemed like they wanted to bite through the fence to eat you…. The front desk girl is ridiculous, no “ hey how are you today?”, or smile or anything. she won’t acknowledge your there, she’s very snippy and not friendly at all! I’m not even sure how she got the job or has a job working with the public. Also she’s like that everytime I come in there to look. Which has been quite a few times. Workers or volunteers are pretty rude besides maybe 1 or 2 of them. They just stare at you like they don’t understand or care about anything your saying.I sure hope they treat those babies better than they treat humans. I understand it’s a hard job but if your rude to the people who come into the door they won’t come back. If you love animals the way they should they could be a little nicer, at least for the animals sakes. A little kindness goes a long way. You can’t expect help when you act like a prison warden when your working…I love all animals but next time I will go to Florence due to the way the workers act.

I am changing my previous review. After Cory became the new director, he has helped my situation. I adopted my precious dog in February before he came on board. I was told she didn't have heartworms but she does. Cory stepped right up! He contacted Meows and Growls who is paying for Gypsy's treatment. I am so thankful to them both!! Prayers for my dog. I hate to see her sick.

Dogs are starving at 1186 Plantveiw Dr. Cherokee Alabama 35616. I called those people and tell them but still no one has showed up to save the dogs. All are on chains. 2 of them tried to attack me and the county cops wouldn't even do anything.

It's a wonderful shelter. The people working there are kind and passionate about the animals. It's clean and they are taken great care of, the workers even know the temperaments of each animal and can help you find the best fit. I adopted a sweet young kitty, after my 22 year old kitty baby passed away. Im thankful for these people and this shelter.

Understaffed and slow to respond to recurring requests for assistance in dealing with problems with loose, aggressive pitbulls in middle of the city. Although the people are nice and seem to want to help when we speak to them, we are unsatisfied with the level of service to neighborhoods in our city.

We visited the Colbert County Animal Shelter for the first time last week looking to adopt a black kitten. For $25 (which we thought was an incredibly low price) we found exactly what we were looking for. The adoption fee covers the cat's shots and the procedure to have her spayed. The team working at this location was so helpful and friendly. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you are looking to adopt a pet in the shoals area I can't say enough great things about this location and their super-helpful staff. Thanks!

It breaks my heart to say this, they gave us an incredibly ill pet and didn't tell us. We adopted a 3 yo stray whom they thought had no issues and upon bringing him home and getting settled began to projectile vomit everywhere. Turns out he had a severe ear infection. Took him to the vet 3days in a row on a holiday weekend. Vet can't see us the rest of the week and he's still severely ill. Our hearts are broken because he's very clearly still ill. They are not open on weekends, so we can't get ahold of anyone to answer any questions or anything. I honestly don't know what to do at this point... I don't think we'll ever adopt from here again...

Best place to find your next best friend. Personal is more then helpful and super excited if you come and show off your adoption. LOL. I love this place and staff. By the way if you can bring supply like cleaning, disinfectant or food.

I must have missed every good employee there because the one I met was horrible. From the moment I walked in I was met with rude comments and an even worse attitude. She made my mother and I feel guilty, incompetent and stupid. We left feeling very confused and just blown away. I can think of nothing we did or said to justify any of this. I would 10/10 not recommend this place for anything.

The Colbert county Animal control/Shelter has really been a lifesaver.... I have 8 puppies that needed a Good home. The shelter has placed them in there rescue program. So now they can be adopted out to good families. They are also a NO KILL shelter now. So please before you put your furry friends in bad hands please contact the Colbert County Animal Control/Shelter for assistance.

My wife and I have rescued a couple animals from here. Staff is always nice to us. Usually have a wide selection of animals to choose from. I highly recommend rescuing animals from here. They sometimes run specials. But a rescue is usually around $75.

I adopted who used to be Ivy Shepard mix dog. Her name is now Amber. We have been together for 2 and 1/2 weeks. I LOVE MY GIRL. She is amazing. Amber is well minded, loving,she is playful, and happy. Amber chose me. Im so thankful GOD blessed me with her. She had helped me so much. I love her so. Thank you Colbert animal shelter for saving my precious jem.

Needed help didn't get it! So sad! But we found someone to take the precious puppy, they came all the way from Ripley, Mississippi just to take this pup. Forever grateful! Colbert county animal shelter should be ashamed the way their doing people. We know it's over crowded, but this was a stray that was precious!! In the long run; so proud it worked out the way it did. This precious pup has a big fenced in yard to run and play. GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS!

Adopted my pooch from here and have 0 regrets. Staff is not only professional, honest & caring to the people and adoptees but work hard on keeping the place clean inside and out. Even though it was an hour drive to adopt I'd do it again in a second and will in the future.
