Usually, the experience is great. The store is clean, there are plenty of goods with deals and most of the staff is helpful. The last experience was super odd. I had a cashier ring me out and not pay any attention to me. Not a word was said, except you can put your card in (didn't even say the total). Before the transaction was over, he threw my bag at me and then turned to a coworker asking for help to rizz a girl up while I was finishing my transaction.

I used to be a customer service representative answering calls for this store. I had never been in a store, and I really wanted to shop here in person. I have ordered plenty of merchandise via the Internet and like their specials and product selections. I thought the store would be larger. It was well organized, and I had fun looking thru the clearance racks. Spotted a Hot Deal on BCG flannels and fleeces for 50% off, but the cashier did not honor the price, so I did not buy it. I was a bit disappointed in the pricing and did not find much that was a fabulous find. I only bought 3 graphic tees but had been prepared to spend some money had I found the right deals. The employee working out on the floor with whom I spoke was friendly and helpful.

Great place for all your sporting needs and wants too. Awesome appareal and shoes. 2 years ago i bought my favorite pair ever of work boots. 1 year ago i was in a bad wreck. Got crushed inside 18 wheeler. They had to cut my boot off. Today i had a few minutes waiting on a load assignment and figured id go look. They had my same boots in sale. What a blessing from the Lord. God has truely restored me. Thank you.

Yesterday I was about to buy two pairs of shoes from the store.There were differences between prices on the app and in-store tag , so I gently asked the lady behind the counter to do the match price for me. But She told me that you have to buy it online and be waiting for 2 hours!!! to pick them up. I don't understand why they mentioned on their website that they do match price!

If I could put zero stars I would, I purchased a softball bat for an intramural softball game that started maybe half an hour after I bought it, 10 minutes into the game the bat was already bent and unusable and so I went straight back and asked about returning it because it was just flat out defective, turns out there’s a bogus policy saying you can’t return bats without the plastic still on them. I guess next time I’ll use the bar with the plastic on first and then if it doesn’t work return it. Just makes no sense and it just seems they have no common sense or decency to realize how absurd that is. I have the receipt and everything but sorry they can’t help

This year I didn’t find good deals or variety in the merchandise. There is no section for horse back riding, I just purchased a shoe for my toughest daughter.

A nice clean store. It had an open feeling everywhere but the clothing section. They have plenty of parking, and it is easy to get in and out of. The staff has always been friendly and eager to answer questions. They have decent prices on supplements.

I ordered 2 pairs of shoes online to be picked up in store the next day. As I was getting ready to go to the store to pick up the shoes. I decided to check and see if they were ready but instead my order had been canceled. The reason for the one star review is that both pairs of shoes were on clearance at a really good price I paid for the shoes and expected them to be ready instead they sold them to someone else. I guess the point is why spend time shopping online and paying only to have them give them to someone else. I guess I will spend my money elsewhere.

It was very good ..But the manager could not find a price on the shirt I wanted because it was the last one so she said that it was on clearance but I paid full price for it .. she had red hair ,buzz cut on top...I am not happy ...I will be telling people what happen...

ordered a pair of white pumas, they came early but they seemed like they were worn.. laces were loose on one shoe as if someone had adjusted them to their fitting and the inside of the shoes were dirty as well as front of the shoes.

It's really hard to get help in the store. The staff talks way too much at the checkout counters. Tim seems to be their favorite manager as he let's them slide. We'll, that was their conversation as they checked me out Saturday evening. Both workers seemed to take no pride in their work nor cared how it came across to a customer.

Got into the store and guess what? Not a buggy in sight. So back out to the parking lot to get a buggy. Do employees/managers not see this? And like at many other places with buggies, buggy maintenance is lacking. The good thing was that I got a bag of lump charcoal without a hole in the bag.

The Tuscaloosa location has a larger pistol selection to offer than the other branches in Birmingham. The store is clean and the staff is nice and professional. I will be going back to the Academy in Tuscaloosa to make more firearm purchase.

It's OK. Good variety to choose from. My husband found a pair of tennis shoes that were in a wide. No deal on the price, in fact a little over priced. The biggest reason I only give it 3 stars is the staff and service. Worst service and unfriendlyest employees in the whole town.

My family has been shopping at Academy for a couple of years now and for the most part been satisfied with the service. Today however our patience and loyalty were put to the test. We were checking out and an item we wanted to purchase for an additional 30% off rack was not discounted at the register. The item was originally $20.00 reduced to $14.99. The additional 30% would have dropped the price to $10.49. The lady at the register said the 30% discount was the discounted price. However $20.00 less 30% is $14.00 not $14.99.Well, one thing led to another and the lady who head of merchandise came over. We explained the issue to her but she wasn't listening. She had an attitude that was apparent even as she approached the register. I explained that the numbers didn't add up and that the store should honor the listed price and additional discount. We'll, she was having none of that so no sale on that item. She then proceeded to tell us that she had a degree. She also had a snotty attitude. So, was the issue saving a couple dollars? No, it was how we were treated and disrespected. Well, guess what the people you were rude to and disrespected have degrees too.Your arrogance is not warranted...

Easy to shop by brands, and sports. The checkout process has changed. Its similar to Ross check out process. Curbside pick up is easy to do too.
