Item was clearly marked $19.99 on the shelf. First cashier started ringing it up for $23.99. I went back and provided picture evidence of this discrepancy. The second cashier made adjustments but then said it would be okay to leave price marked on the shelf as it was... I expressed that it is not fair to other buyers to continue with such a business practice.

Purchased a firearm online for store pickup. The personnel working the sporting goods desk were incredibly professional and personable. Had a great time waiting for the background check to complete and got to hear some hilarious stories about the type of characters they deal with in the same scenario. Was in and out in a little over a half hour!

A few weeks ago, I had my item to check out. There were no other customers, but there were 2 employees standing by the checkout line and ignored me. I stood there and they didn’t acknowledge me. I waited a couple of minutes, put my item down and left the store. It was a black lady and a black man.I needed a Ken Onion Work Sharp today, but I get it from Amazon.

The tall nasty manager is standing here too cool for school like a drill sergeant staring at folks. Customer service just sucks, not what it used to be and I see why folks in customer service are in exactly that. William was extremely nice though!

This location needs some help! We saw a basketball goal we wanted and were told to go up front and pay for it. We paid and then went to the back for the untrained employee to say hold on. He brings a very rude manager over who says, "What do you mean you paid for it, how did you pay for it, let me see you receipt?" I gave him the receipt, and he tells him to look up the sku, and of course they don't have it in stock?!?!?!?! I asked why the person at the register would not see that it was out of stock? He said, "I don't know, go get a refund," and he walked away.... we go to the register and ask for a refund, the cashier says " I thought you said it was in stock" and was visbally upset that she had to give us a refund!!! I highly doubt I'll ever return to this location

Sports AND OUTDOORS. I was definitely surprised by all of the different types of items that they offer. About a quarter of the store is another quarter is a pair of karma and the rest is a mix of everything from trainer sports like boxing and yoga to activity sports like camping, fishing, and kayaking. Not only do they sell grills, but there was an entire isle of unique seasonings, ones you won't see at Walmart or target.I had to bump this review down a star bc I went in for a sale item that was listed as "in store", even as I stood looking at the stock and that item just wasn't there. Or anywhere in the whole damn store (I'm that thorough B*). It's frustrating to drive for nothing! I managed to get the item in time for our trip, but if the stock system can't keep up with real time, just don't advertise it that way.👍If helpful, thanks!🙏

I ordered a bike from this store that was available for next day pick up. The next day it wasn't ready and I was told by associate on the phone it would be ready 'the next day'. I waited and two days later the store will not communicate. I've called over 20 times and only once was it answered and immediately I was put on hold and then hung up on. I waited 45 minutes for a chat session with customer service. The chat agent basically told me the store didn't have the item and it would be another week before they would get it. I asked to check availability elsewhere and the chat agent rudely disconnected from chat. Academy =HORRIBLE customer service, false advertisement, and store associates who lie. Academy just lost a loyal customer. UPDATE! It's January 2nd and I still do not have my bike!

This is a great venue that is clean and designed to have a great seat no matter where you are. The food was good, but a little pricey. The staff was friendly and personable in the Pearl River Resort sponsored sitting area.

Our son was starting baseball and he required some black pants, so we ended up here because our local Walmart didn't have the right color of pants. Luckily we were able to find a couple pairs along with a bag for his baseball gear. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. That being said...please do not go here on the weekend before sports season (especially if you're anxious in closed-in places). You WILL be smothered by crowds and stuck waiting in long lines (because of course there are only 1 - 2 lanes open). There was next to no selection of youth baseball cleats (plenty of soccer cleats though).Their bathrooms need some MAJOR attention...my daughter and I had to go and there was toilet paper all over the commodes. It gets better. The stall I was using had what looked like FECES on the toilet paper cover.Also the area in general is getting bad...we were met with the smell of not just cigarettes but pot (yes, pot) when we got to our vehicle. Unfortunately, this is the closest Academy to us (we live in Pell City). If there was any reason we had to go to an Academy in the future, we would gladly drive the hour to Gadsden.

So my Hubby and I went here to check out some new Nike shoes and clothes. And we bought him some Nike shorts. Now mind you Nike wanted $30 for the shorts, how is Academy Sports going to charge people $35.00 for $30.00 shorts!!!!! I will not be shopping here anymore if that is how they want to do business.

Went looking for a glock was told that was pretty much all they had besides the ones in the safe. My thing is you cannot make a sale with your items are in a safe right behind the counter. She reluctantly opened it for another customer, I walked up saw a few of them in the safe. That customer told me he saw what he asked her for ,but he didn't want to buy it there. He also told me about another store he was going to, I went also and we both bought Glocks I got a 48 and he got a 43.

There were no employees in the shoe dept. to assist customers and I could not find any velcro shoes. The only employees I saw were near the front of the store. They do have some great shoe sales though. Be careful about buying air mattresses! Thank goodness I noticed some have no warranty at all! Also they don't answer the phone most of the time and when they do they hang up on me after pretending to transfer the call. (If they really wanted to help they would have answered when I called right back.) And I wasn't rude to them so there was no reason for it. If they had self checkout and cameras they could run the store with no employees at all.

Would be 5 star except I was followed by a loss prevention dude and then basically searched upon leaving. They didn't find the Puerto Rican family I smuggled out even though Juan dropped a bottle of rum and was actively saying ay ay ay!!! While Maria was cuttn a rug with her fantastic salsa skills.

Was in and out, knowing what I was looking for. The store was very neat and clean, everything in its place which made shopping easy. Was able to get my birthday gifts and leave within 15 to 20 minutes. The young lady at the register was super nice and friendly. Made shopping a pleasure.

Academy Sports Trussville, ALI would not recommend this store as a FFL receiver….they will open your order claiming they have to verify it but when you come to pick it up half of it will be missing and they will conveniently refer you back to the store you originally ordered from… and then to add insult to injury tell me they probably shipped the rest to your house …. If that was the case I would have received an additional tracking number from the store I placed the order from…they wouldn’t even run the camera back to see who received the order and opened it…..The policy should be to open and verify orders with the customer there so that there will be no confusion…. So basically they will receive your order, open it, take what they want and say it’s not their problem and refer you back to where you ordered it so they do not have to take any responsibility…. I will never shop there, use them for anything or refer them to anyone …. BUYERS BE WARE !!!!!!

Lines are always so long and service is mediocre. Most employees not cashiering are on their phones. I went in to return an item and the customer service desk had 5 employees up front and all doing nothing, but they sent me to stand in a checkout line to wait while I watched them play on their phones.
