Has a wide variety of pets would of loved to rate it a 5 star but the owner attitude sucked sometimes she's ok but in this particular visit it was the worst wanted to buy a bird she told me to go get all the supplies which only thing I was literally lacking was the feed and to come back she would still be open it took me at least 10mins to go and come back she had closed the store but the whole time being snobbish as if my money wasn't wanted or good enough definitely going back but will not be anytime soon. I hope you read your reviews and learn how to be more cordial with your customers whether having a rough long tiresome day or not.

If I could give this negative stars, I would. The pets are obviously not being taken care of, the place reeks of urine, and it’s so crowded you can hardly move. As if that weren’t bad enough, the lady at the counter was BEYOND rude, unhelpful, and disrespectful. If you want to adopt a healthy and taken care of pet, DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE. This is the absolute worst business in a hundred mile radius to support!!

The Owner has been there for many years and has always been very helpful. They have an especially great collection of fish and birds, But of course other pets too. And the local vet is right next door which is very helpful.

The smell as you walk in should serve as a deterrent towards purchasing a pet of any type. Just went in for aquarium gravel, could not get out fast enough.

This is my first time purchasing small animals from store. Employee was very friendly and well informed about the animals. I purchased two mini lop rabbits. Prices were very reasonable. Everything I need for first time rabbits owners they had in stock. It's a small hometown business. Would recommend you check this store for your next animals purchase. Also, they do dog and cat grooming.

I was extremely unsatisfied.I got there for my appt time and no one was there. I waited 20 minutes outside, calling every few minutes with no answer.The vet next door knows the owner and agreed to keep my dog there until she arrived (I live in Montgomery and couldn’t run my dog home before work).The shop smelled awful, animals were out and about in the shop, and bugs were crawling on the checkout counter.The grooming job was excellent and the owner was very nice. She scheduled a follow up grooming appt.I called the day of the follow up. No answer. Finally got an answer on the phone and they had forgotten about the follow up appt.I won’t be back.

They had just the fish that I was looking for, and plenty of other cool animals as well! They could work a bit on organization w pets, but the supplies were well stocked and the fish food was at a great price. Plus they are trying, and do pay attention to their customers.

Complete and total crock. we made it VERY clear on the phone when we called that we would need to wait for our pet at the location as we do not have a vehicle and rely on company transportion. Over the phone the owner said that is was no problem and that we could wait for our pet inside the building. Once we arrived, it became apparent that she lied. The owner said "I don't know where you are going to wait because you can't wait in the building." Mind you it was raining. The owner followed this up with " owners make the pets nervous", and "what happens if we cut your pet"... This place wasted our time, our companies time and we got stuck out in the rain waiting for our ride. My biggest fear with ANYONE bringing their pet here is the abuse the animal may suffer. I recommend avoiding this place if you truly love your pet as a family member. We love our multipoo as our child, she has NEVER been any from us.

I wish I could give then less than one star. At first it seemed like a great place as I called the day before my baby's appt to see if they had any appts and they said they would get me at 11am, which was great. I then asked if I could wait with my baby as she goes everywhere with my husband or myself and we didn't want to leave her with a stranger. I was told to hold on so the young lady could check with the owner, Deborah. She came.back to tell me that it was fine, I could wait while she got her hair cut and when I asked how long it'd take, she gave me an estimate of 2-3 hours, which I figured I could work with. HOWEVER, the day of our appt I got a ride to the location in the pouring rain (drive an 18wheeler and couldn't easily drive to the location, lol) and got dropped off at 10:45. At first things seemed OK as she wanted to see her shot records, etc. Since my puppy wasn't old enough to get her last shots she was supposed to keep her away from other animals but I'm not sure how that was to be accomplished as several cats and dogs were running loose in the shop and her cages were all full. I got a bit concerned watching the other animals running around as our puppy weighs in at 3lbs and is on the smaller side still... Regardless of that, she asks to see my "animal" and as I am getting her paperwork out, the owner Deborah tells me "I don't know where you are gonna wait but you can't wait in here. You will make her nervous if I NICK her." I was asked what had changed since yesterday and both the ladies my husband and Id spoken to the day told me I could wait inside while she was groomed. However, they told me regardless of what was said yesterday, I would have to wait outside in the rain. I left for two reasons, first they lied and second the owner told me she may cut my poor puppy that was already nervous....Strongly recommend against this location

The entire store feels like an episode of Hoarders, you can hardly even walk around because of the clutter. I came in to buy some clothes for my dog and most of the clothing was filthy and overpriced. Not to mention the owner was extremely rude to both the customers and the employees. I won't ever be back to this establishment.

We just moved to Troy and looking to purchase fish. But when we walked in the entire store reeked. Theres dust on the “chandelier” anything on the shelf looks like it had been in a dust storm, The floor is nasty, there were sections missing tile near the fish tanks, the fish tanks were filthy, a few of the bagged fish were dead on the ground, went to look at a cute ferret hammock and a roach crawled out of it, several other roaches were squished on the floor, & There were 4 baby kittens running around. Naturally as an animal lover I picked one of the babies up and he was the absolute sweetest. Immediately noticed his dirty ears and multitude of fleas. The owner told us he was for sale for $199 and that included his first set of shots. When we asked if he would receive a flea bath as well due to the copious amount of fleas crawling on that baby she tried to deny he had them upon pointing them out she quickly changed her mind and said they’d give him a pill for it.If I had $800 I would have taken every one of those kittens to get them out of the FILTH they’re currently in.

Will not shop here again! As this was my first visit I found the store to be too small and cramped for my family to enjoy looking at the pets.the employees were unfriendly to assist us to find the animal we were wanting.the groomer was very impatient to have our children in the store.key advice to the owner if you can't handle children and big families in your store then you need to upgrade to a larger and spacious store with a friendlier staff.

Absolute disgrace of enclosures and living conditions for the animals. They live in filth with no water or food. The tortoise had a small cat bowl with no water, no heat bulb or uvb. No hide, no food. Clearly don’t know the proper care for large tortoises. Not to mention the gross fish tanks, bird cages, and hamster cages. None of the reptiles had proper lighting or care, which can obviously lead to lifelong consequences for them. Cobwebs and roaches absolutely everywhere even in the corners of the hamster cages. I walked out of their with tears in my eyes for all the animals that pass through that shop. Please do not give them your business.

Literally every fish or shrimp you get from here will die within the week. Disgusting, not taken care of, dead animals everywhere. Older lady who’s always there (maybe the owner?) is rude. Overpriced tiny mice. It’s much worth the trip to drive to Montgomery/ Dothan to buy pets or supplies.

I liked nothing about this place. It's was DISGUSTING. A lady named megan helped me and she gave me about 12 fish and I didn't get halfway home to realize that 2 of the fish she gave me were DEAD. The cat there had some kind of mange, the baby puppies are lying in their own feces. As soon as I get home I am calling animal services on these people. This is ridiculous!

They really need a separate "grooming" area! And someone dedicated to selling everything else in the store. It's very crowded. You will have to have knowledge about what you are buying! This is not a place for amateurs There's 3 stars because they are the only game in town.

They have a decent selection but the older shopkeeper is VERY rude. Heard many complaints about her and experienced the attitude myself. My advice: Go with what you want in mind and don't ask questions just google what you want to know its less hassle.

I had a bad experience with the pet store owner after purchasing a lovebird from Troy Pets. Although my experience happened years ago while I was in graduate school at Troy University, I still sometimes wonder how people can tolerate a negative and dishonest business owner. I have been a parrot owner for over 20 years and she accused me of killing a lovebird because it died in less than 24 hours from purchasing it. After she yelled at me and belittled me in every way possible, she told me to take the bird next door to the veterinarian for a necropsy. They could not find anything wrong, so when I went back to Troy Pets and told her she refused to either give me a different lovebird or offer me a refund or store credit. I have been through vet checks for my parrots and I know about the dangers of fumes and toxic foods. After all these years, I will never forget how this woman made me cry by yelling at me in front of customers for bringing in the dead lovebird and how she mistreated me for being honest.I never set foot in her store again and have not for the past 13 years. It is a shame because she lost out on future business for my African Grey, Macaw, and Princess of Wales parakeets. My advice is to do your research carefully before choosing where to shop for your pets unless you don't mind being mistreated or belittled.

I would have gone lower than poor to fair if there were an option. The owner is THE rudest person I have ever spoken to. They sold me too many fish for the size tank I had, I had no idea. I ASSUMED that they knew what they were talking about. I guess that was my SECOND mistake. The first was GOING THERE! I purchased the fish for my 2 kids. 3 days later when almost all of the fish were dead I called to see what could be done about the situation. All I wanted was my money back. That was it. If they want to dispense false knowledge to people, fine. I just wanted the FIFTY dollars back that I spent with these people. The owner told me that I should have done research on buying fish before I came in there. Really? I thought YOU were supposed to know what you were talking about since you OWN A FREAKIN PETSHOP!!! I told her that I had purchased the fish for my 2 children and they have been devastated every day to find more dead fish in each of their tanks. She ABSOLUTELY didnt care. She also screamed at me on the phone. Very professional. DON'T GO THERE!!! Do yourself and your WALLET a favor and drive to Montgomery, or Dothan or ANYWHERE but here!!!!!!!

I got a Guinea pig and took it home only to discover she was covered in lice. All of them looked to have some skin issues and their ears were mangled and torn. Plus it smells horrible. I'm allergic to cats and I really wish they wouldn't let theirs just walk around the store, although I'm pretty sure all the dander floating around would give me a bad reaction anyway. Pretty pricey considering the condition of the animals.

As soon as I walked in I was pushed out I have a service dog she is about 35 pounds and upon walking in mind you just so I could get a bowl for my exhausted dog to drink out of I could not even ask about their items instead leaving for another animal store with better service and nicer people
