EDITED TO ADD:After the post below was made, I finally got in touch with another vet that had an opening. I took her in to new vet, the very next day after seeing doc Owen. She had to have surgery. There was a literal hole in her arm the size of a nickel. The new vet also told me that had I made my puppy wear this cast for 2 additional weeks as doctor Owen suggested, she very likely could have lost her arm due to the severity of the infection. My gut just told me to seek a second opinion & THANK GOD I did. I was out an additional $600, that I wouldn’t have had to pay, had Dr. Owen changed it like he said he would, but that’s neither here nor there. I’m just glad I found someone who actually took time with us, and treated my pet properly. She’s now cast free & completely healed. But I did want to update this story to let everyone know!This is my 4 month old puppy, Luna. She broke her arm 2 weeks ago, & Dr. Owen’s fixed her up & put this cast on her. He told me to return on December 5th (today) to have it changed out. He emphasized this, as if it was of great importance. Well, in the meantime, she developed a very nasty infection on her arm from the cast rubbing against it. He said it was because she was “too active” but either way, it’s there. I was counting down the days until this appt because the smell is absolutely horrid. & I know she must be miserable. So I couldn’t wait for her to get a new cast. Boy was I wrong. I get there today & he sees how bad the infection is, & told me “it looks fine. We don’t need to change it out.” She has a literal infection. & he expects her to wear this nasty cast for two more weeks. He did however prescribe her antibiotics & gave her an antibiotic shot, but it was extremely apparent that he wanted me gone as soon as humanly possible. I left more confused & concerned than I was when I went. He doesn’t let you speak, he talks over you, & he doesn’t want to hear anything that’s going to cause him to have to spend more time with your pet. That was my experience anyway. She also has a really bad cough & I recorded it on my phone so he could listen & maybe possibly tell me what it is. Nope. He said he didn’t need to listen to it. He said it was an upper respiratory infection. As I’ve read through these reviews from people over the years, I’ve seen several stories where Dr. Owen’s has misdiagnosed others animals. Whether or not that’s true, I can’t say, but I’ve read it on here & other places like yelp. That’s scary to me. We will 100% not be back & I'm currently looking for a new vet as we speak. & the girls in the back aren’t even almost friendly. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about animals and their wellbeing, skip this place. The video below is the cast he seen TODAY and said it was fine. And to leave it on FOR TWO MORE WEEKS with an infected arm.

This has been my vet since 2004. He has taken care of my animals, like they were his. He and his staff have a pure love for all the animals that come into his clinic. I will continue to recommend this vet clinic to anyone that loves their animals.

I never thought I'd be leaving a bad review for this vet but I am very disgusted with what my dog was put through (not to mention what we endured). Last hear, Dr. Owens diagnosed my dog with CHF and she went on fluid pills which we've paid for every month. Before Christmas, she started coughing and he stated her heart sounded fine and it was a respiratory infection. Between December and early April we went to him multiple times because she seemed to get better and then would suddenly get worse. His answer was "lets try another antibiotic" and so she ended up being placed on multiple meds she didn't need...By early April, she had loud, hacking coughing fits that lasted up to an hour throughout the day and night! We had to sleep in short shifts to care for her. We took her back again and he did a chest x-ray and informed us her CHF was worsening and put us on Vetmeddin, a very expensive heart medication. Another week went by with NO improvement and she seemed to be getting sicker so we took her for a 2nd opinion. $400s in testing later, we found that she does NOT have CHF. Her heart is enlarged because it has been compensating for a lung issue for a long time. On her new meds, she showed improvement with in hours! I called Dr. Owens office and explained that she had been misdiagnosed and asked if there was anyway we could get a refund for the Vetmeddin at least as she never should have been put on it to begin with. I was politely told no. This is after YEARS of taking 4 dogs to this vet, thousands of dollars spent there, and I was told no. No "sorry she was misdiagnosed and was given medicine that could actually harm a dog that doesn't have heart disease), just a pat no and after insisting, we'll see about having our of fice manager call but the answer will still be the same.I am very disgusted with h ow my poor little dog has been made to suffer. I can no longer recommend t his ivet to anyone.

Found 2 abandoned puppies and rushed from Mississippi and they got us seen on a weekend. Vet is excellent and treated them like they were his dogs.

We are so heartbroken at Christmas because of losing our sweet Great Pyrenees puppy 2 days before Christmas. She got out of the yard because a loose dog dug under the fence and led her away. Hours later we found her at the clinic with a gunshot wound to her belly. Because my daughterinlaw told him they did not have $s available at Christmas for expensive surgery, the dog was sent home to die. The next day, she took the dog back to this place because she was bleeding heavily in her crate. She remained there after we gave them my credit card number to save her. Dr. Owens still did not perform surgery to remove the bullet until late afternoon the next day.At this time she had become septic and was unable to be saved. Christmas was ruined for our 2 adoring children aged 3 and 5. Still trying to understand why it had to happen that way. As a medical professional, is there no sense of urgency to save a 1.5 yo otherwise healthy puppy because of finances 2 days out from Christmas? Futhermore, after paying an enormous vet bill on my credit card, they refused funds from folks in the community that wanted to help the family recover some of the expenses saying they would only apply the $ toward future bills from our other pets. I can assure you, we will NEVER take another beloved family member to this heartless clinic again. The dog was dropped off by a good samaritan because of her bullet wound or wouldn't have been there. Plus our normal vet had closed for holidays. I cannot fathom ignoring and delaying critical care to an animal bleeding out due to a family not having the funds right at Christmas, even after applying the credit card. My grandchildren will never forget watching their beloved pet suffer and die because of this incredible neglect from people that are supposed to care about animals!

I took my dogs Max and Leo there today for the first time. I was truly impressed with the professionalism of the staff there. Dr Owen's was so thorough and listened to every question we had. He even PERSONALLY called me to go over my dogs diagnosis with me. That meant so much to me because I was so concerned about my dogs condition. I am grateful for such an amazing team here and we will continue to bring our fur babies here to be taken care of by Dr Owen's and his crew!

I have put my Trust in Dr Owens and his assistances for 9 years now. He has performed several outstanding and successful procedures on my layla baby from Dental to spaying and recently tumor removal. I owe them everything for recently performing a tumor removal on my little 3 pound Chihuahua. As he walked in the room looking at my Layla he knew exactly what was going on with her. He was right, I never doubted him but this time I hoped he would have been wrong just this once. I appreciate everything you have done for us with her. This is surely a great veterinarian to establish long-term with your pets.

I absolutely love this vet office. Dr. Owens is amazing and the techs/front desk girls are so incredibly sweet (plus they have Mrs.Rosie!). My oldest pup had to have a small tumor removed recently, and we had been looking for a new vet since moving back to the state. The pricing was unbelievably fair and they took such good care of my boy. He was even excited to go back inside their building when we returned for suture removal. Both of my pups will be permanent patients here. Many thanks to Dr. Owens and staff!

My 13 year old dog needed urgent attention due to a severe medical problem. When I called the day before, they gave me a next day appointment, which was a Saturday. However, when I got there I asked if someone could help get my dog out of the car. There was absolutely no rush or urgency to them. I had to wait on the other customer just to use the clipboard. Once he was finished, they placed the paperwork on it for me to fill out. Then it took quite a length of time for her to enter it into the computer. All the while, my sick dog was sitting in the hot car. After she got through with everything, she said they had emergencies come in so it would be approx. 1.5 hr wait or so. When I asked again, if someone would help get my dog out of the hot car to wait, she took my phone # and said she would give me a call when they are ready.I understand this was a work-in appointment, but this was careless. There was no concern or urgency at all for my dog who passed away a few days later.

First of all, they told me to come in and agreed to treat Dora on zero notice on a Saturday morning with both her and me being new clients. I had already been turned down by other offices closer to me. Second, the attitude and care of all the staff were way above what I've seen at most vet clinics. They took time to explain what was needed, what treatments were being implemented, and what to expect. Dora was found by the roadside in a remote wooded area - a 4 1/2 mo old small hound mix. She was shivering on a clump of dry dead grass in the middle of a thunderstorm out in the wide open. She was malnourished, full of hookworms, and suffered from dermatitis and tick bites. Obviously abandoned, she had given up, as she barely moved when I approached her in the storm. Dr. Owens and his staff took special interest in Dora, and got her protected from all types of health hazards, including canine influenza, heartworms, leptospirosis, and all the other regular puppy diseases. Her dermatitis should heal up now that we've taken care of all the fleas and ticks, and her gi tract should calm down without the load of hookworms. All this was done plus I got some sample meds to continue her work and flea/tick prevention for a price I almost hit the floor over. They take Care Credit if you use that, but I didn't need it! I was able to pay the amazingly low bill on the spot. I would have been charged 5 times this for all this at most other animal clinics! Ask me how I know!!! Dr. Owens came in 3 different times to update me on the lab work and plans. He even clipped Dora's nails for me!I came here out of necessity because I leave for work at 6am and don't get back until 7pm M-F, so I can't make an appointment during most clinics' normal hours. Also, the reviews here were really good. I had no idea if they would see us when we arrived, but not only was our experience way better than expected, but I will be bringing my Brittanys and Border Collie mix here, as well! I would recommend Animal Care of Mobile County to everyone looking for a good quality and reasonably priced veterinarian. I'd go as far as to say this was below "reasonable" price. And for the level of care, compassion, and time spent plus the extras, there is nowhere else I can even compare to. Amazing people here! Takes me back 30 years, at least!

Jr. Is the third fur baby at Dr Owen's office. I WOULD NOT take my puppies anywhere else. The staff is great & Dr Owens is the best.
