We adopted our dog Luna here last October and she is the sweetest girl. I first sent a message for another dog, who actually wasn't available anymore so they said that two australian shepherds just got there. We had an australian shepherd puppy so it was a nice coincidence and we decided to go see her the day after. We weren't sure if we wanted to adopt her straight away because we didn't know if she would get along with our puppy at home so they let us take her home for 3 days to see how it would go. Turns out she was the perfect addition to our family! She is the perfect lap dog at home and also a nice hiking companion when we go out. We could never imagine that we would get so lucky. Thank you to the volunteers and staff of the shelter, they truly did an amazing job and we are both super happy of our experience here.

Well what can I say, questioning the facility and the care. Staff did not have knowledge to give us straight answers on things that SHOULD be known. Definitely started rethinking the decision to go there. The staff were friendly enough aside from one very rude lady working there. Very disrespectful and unprofessional and is the sole reason I would not give that place another chance. We did go ahead and adopt the one we were in the middle of due to only the fact that I wasn’t going to tell my kids no after getting their hearts set. And the fur babies deserve a home. But I’m giving you my $ for a dog with who knows what is wrong with him/her or what kind of condition they might be in & giving them a chance at a life. So maybe come down off your high horse, be a professional respectful human being & be happy WE are the ones supporting these babies & yall with donations & taking in the real costs of giving them the care they deserve. Customer service goes a long way & those fur babies deserve a chance. So idk, maybe don’t act like doing a job you VOLUNTEERED for is putting you out any just so you can acquire some sense of good or credentials or whatever you are looking to gain from it if you can’t treat people with respect. It’s a turn off for potential loving pet owners.

Just got a puppy from here this past weekend. Not only did the puppy have worms and kennel cough. He has pneumonia and is costing us $1000 to treat him. Just hoping this new puppy won’t get my other dogs sick. ALSO. how they kept these puppies is not okay.UPDATE : i have called and they said they would refund the adoption fee so waiting to see if that will happen.

If you are missing a pet , this is the 3rd. Place to call or visit 7. They do a great job of keeping the Aminal control and population down around the city. Cats are a different story because of not being a law for them, that I am aware of. . If you want a pet for the family, they might have the special one that you have been looking for. From past experiences,I think that they do a wonderful job in all aspects. That is why I have rated the Prattville Humane Shelter Society with 5 stars.

Workers there are kind & friendly. Just beware if you’re adopting ANY animal from them, even if they look healthy please take them to get checked at the vet. We adopted two sweet kittens from here & one of them ended up having ring worm & giving it to the other kitty. Now we have two kittens with ring worm. The kitten had a bald spot on her face when we first adopted her that somehow turned into ringworm. There were other kittens there with skin issues (bald spots, spots that looked infected, etc). I understand it’s a lot to care for all the animals properly, especially if you’re short staffed, but common sense don’t let people adopt the animal until the animal is healed & not infected or at the very least treated properly.(Mind you, we did get them checked at the vet cause we thought they had ear mites & the vet overlooked the area in question on her face.)Just be cautious.

I took my mother to turn over some kittens. She told me that they would only keep them for 48hrs b4 they would put them to sleep, but was happy to find out that they keep them until their adopted as long as their healthy & have a good temperament. They will provide them a check up & their shots as well! They also take pics of them as well as transport them to other places (I 4got where) that will give them a better chance of being adopted! I'm so happy!😸 The staff was very professional & you can tell that they really care about the animals & their well being & that's what matters! I just want to say thank you very much to all the staff & to all the people who work behind the scenes, that donate money, food, litter etc. as well as volunteering their time to help these beautiful innocent animals. God Bless You All!!! 🐱🐶💜💋🙏🏽🐶🐱

I called Autauga Humane for a pregnant dog that was dropped at our house a couple of days ago and specifically asked if I brought her to them that she would be ok that I did not want to chance her getting put down. The lady I spoke to at the Humane shelter confirmed that she would not be put down and that she would be fine and for me to call a number that she gave me that would pick her up to take her to them. When the gentleman showed up he informed me that he couldn't pick up the dog because they were over full and had no cages left and was doubled and tripled up in the cages and that they were putting dogs down in large groups every Thursday because they didn't have homes to put them into. So please do not take your dog to the Autauga County Humane Shelter by any means if you want to make sure that it goes to a good home because sounds like it's a good chance it could be 50/50 either way if they makes it or not. Even worse was that she lied to me on the phone. There is a website on Facebook that is called free pups for Alabama I posted the dog on there today and have already had multiple replies and have someone coming to pick her up tomorrow for a good home. So try that page if you want and it looked like there might be several other pages kind of like it so there are people out there that are wanting the dogs.

Imagine being on a list and promising to call someone to get a dog only to be skipped because they think because where you live you can’t handle or take care of An animal, I bet I make more money than 90% of the people who work here and have the experience to train and take care of the animalI tried gettingI called back asking why I wasn’t called and was greeted with “the director said no because of where you live” even though I have a spacious home with plenty of yard and I love that they proceeded to give NO further explanation didn’t bother trying to call me, didn’t bother obtaining more details from me, just skipped to the next paying customer. Absolutely ridiculous getting my hopes up for 2 weeks and then this. If your trying to seriously adopt a pet, look else where unless your absolutely loaded with a 2 store home and 20 acres of land

This was the 1st time I had ever adopted from a shelter and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Before leaving they made sure I felt comfortable with our choice as well as him being comfortable with me. For $120 it covered everything so I had no worries. Now the day I went there weren’t a lot of dogs to choose from and I almost left, until I locked eyes with my newest addition. Worth checking out.

The staff was very helpful. I went back three different times trying to make the right decision. They spent time with me each visit. Yes it is small but at least these homeless pets get another chance at love and happiness. Thanks again to the staff!

I found a precious sweet young puppy out on my dirt road. I was going to try and keep him but my husband and I both work a lot of long hours all week long so it just wouldn't be fair for the poor guy! I called late in the afternoon and the woman told me to get there before 4 and they would take him in and they did and we are very grateful for there services.

My boyfriend and I went into the shelter determined to find a puppy. There weren’t any that caught our interest so we went to look at the bigger dogs. I had found one that was a pit bull and she seemed very friendly but i wasn’t allowed to have her because I lived in an apartment and didn’t have a fenced in back yard. Instead, the very nice lady matched me with Annie because she could tell I wanted a more laid back and easy to manage dog. Annie is one of the sweetest dogs I have come in contact with. She doesn’t jump on furniture which is a plus and she doesn’t bark. All she wants to do is lay out on the floor and have you pet her. I took her to the vet and they said she was a very healthy dog and I just have to bring her back for her yearly shots next year. I have very, very happy with my new dog and I thank the lady in the front office for matching me with her.

Found a dog I wanted to adopt on their website and called multiple times about him. 6 hour drive for me. They would not let me put down a deposit on him, but I was told if I called Friday and he was still there, they would not adopt him until I got there on Sat. So I called Friday after 4pm and told them I was coming on Sat. The dog was no longer available on Sat. Thanks a lot Robert!

Got my cat from here. I just want to point out that the staff was SUPER friendly and helpful. They didn't just sell you an animal. They made sure that you were ready and that your heart was with the right animal. They didn't pressure you in or out of a purchase, but instead made sure that when you chose a fur baby, you chose with your heart and not with the mentality that "this one's small and cute" or "well this one's fixed" I love my baby so much and I love the staff and atmosphere of this wonderful animal shelter. 😍

This place is doing amazing things for amazing animals. If you're thinking about adopting an animal you should definitely go here. The people are nice and the facility is clean. I wouldn't say it spotless because I mean come on it is it Humane Society. But they definitely take care of the facility and the animals with them. The people are also nice. 5 stars all day. Will definitely go back.

December 2020 we adopted our sweet terrier mix. However, as soon as we adopted him and back home it was very apparent that he was underweight and cought some kind of virus from the shelter. It took months for it to clear out of his system. Staff was very nice and made the adoption process a breeze , but PAHS would benefit on checking on the well-being of their animals (running tests, wellness checkup at the vet etc.) every so often while the animals are at the shelter prior to someone adopting them.

Adopted a dog from the shelter and while it seemed healthy in the kennel and the lady up front gives you all this paperwork about the dogs health and shot record. When we got home and less than 24 hours the dog was very sick with kennel cough and had to be immediately taken to the vet. So I paid $120 for a sick dog which is truly amazing. To bring him to a loving home with another dog which will catch the contagious disease. I feel bad for the animals there.

By all means am I a dog lover & support shelter dogs. However, I have had nothing but bad experiences with the staff and the dogs health. We looked at a dog 1 week prior to adopting him for one of my friends & when we picked him up his nose was slightly running and at least 10lbs lighter. The lady & man then told me this is just from “stressful environment & being neutered”. By that night his nose was full of yellow mucous draining and now he dog still hasn’t eaten in 3 days. The vet said that whatever shelter we got this from need to pay for the treatment or get a refund bc this dog is not in good condition and they should have treated him. Since the dog was likely to get adopted they didn’t put any care in this dog what so ever. All they had to say to me when I told them was “well you signed a contract so therefore there’s no refunds” “well you shouldn’t have waited so long to take him to the vet” “you shouldn’t have taken him out of the shelter if he was sick” well....I’m not a VET I don’t know these things. All I knew that I was supposed to be adopting a dog that was supposed to be in healthy condition. Now possibley has kennel cough / or respiratory infection. Only $200 later will the dog be okay! And nothing being done & wanted me to bring the dog back and then treat him there. Tell me how that makes any sense??? Never going back.

Employees were very nice and polite and did their best to make it a good experience but we found the Kittens and Cats were very hungry and no food or water was in their dishes. We adopted two one Baby and a 1 year old.Just as soon as we left we went straight to Walmart and purchased some can and dry foods the Baby are 1/2 of a 5.5 oz can and the 1 year old ate about 1/4 of a 5.5 oz can. They Both are doing vey well and adapting to our Cats very well . We found the Building where the Cats was held to hot to for the Baby's for us to hold them to bond and they were closing when we left ! ( Getting in their vehicles ! ) I wounder about those poor Baby's that were left behind with no food or water !

The staff was incredible. At no point did they make me feel guilty for leaving my cat there. They had very positive things to say about how well I had cared for her and what good condition she appeared to be in.

I adopted Colby/Festus about 3 years ago. He is a wonderful addition to our home. He is a special needs dog as he is mostly deaf and partially blind. He loves to chase shadows. He loves running on my acre in Fl chasing anyth8ng and everything including shadows of birds flying above. And loves also being in Ozark, Al alerting us if he smells any critters outside. We are in the country surrounded by woods. The staff was great and friendly.

I've brought in several feral cats for the center to help. Robert has always been an A+ representative with getting the cats processed in to the shelter. It seems to me the folks there really care about the animals.

Staff was rude over the phone to a friend of mines who was helping me pick out my first dog. I found one that I wanted. Adopted him and just to find out that he has upper respiratory infection and/or kennel cough. The vet recommended that I call back the shelter to pay for the treatments and medications he will be needing.... but of course they didn’t and refered to the contract we signed and saying no refunds. Little do they know section 13D says if you have a letter saying the dog is ill and would like a refund or to exahnge it from a licensed Vet, refund would be mailed out within 30days. But it is ok, because I treated my dog and got his medication, and he is already doing better. Sorry to say but I don’t recommend anyone here. Lesson learned for future reference.

I adopted my 14yo shitzu from Prattville in Jan. She is happy and flourishing. I just wanted PAH to know so they can pass that on to her past owner. It has taken her a while to adjust and recoup but she is now healthy, happy and very loved (and she has clean teeth 😆). Thanks PAH.

The staff was friendly and helpful. My naughty run-away dog was well cared for while in "custody", and they went to great lengths to ensure that he was returned to his rightful humans.
