the weird alt right flags threw me off big time. to each their own, don’t mind people’s political beliefs but walking in their made me feel like i was about to get lynched lol. staff was nice enough (besides staring at me funny) and I love the dogs being there.

The pros: they seem to do a lot for dogs. They had a fundraiser shirt for senior dogs and it seemed to be a great charity. I always love it when shop dogs are available and willing to be petted. They also had fun advertising so I was looking forward to exploring the store.The cons: I was greeted with a large row of pro-Trump and anti-Biden signs hanging from the middle of the store ceiling.

I love to come visit the shop dogs here. I love that they just wander about. It's not unusual to see a kid laying on the floor next to one. Great selection of t-shirts. I have a hard time leaving without one. I don't think it's happened yet. If you need some laughable political shirts and aren't a Democrat you will find a few to add to your wardrobe. It's a fun store and worth a visit.

Very friendly staff and all the people that work there will go out of their way to find you the right shirt. I needed a certain color in large and asked one of the ladies and she went to the back and came out with exactly what I was looking for. The free beer was an awesome touch also.

I was at the store today with Wags and Whiskers foster pups today. The staff went above and beyond to help us with all of the furbabies from unloading our automobiles to cleaning poop. We were there until closing and it was the most fun I have ever had at an adoption event before. Huge Thank you to the owners and their staff! They are the BOMB!

Great store however if you use a credit card they charge you an extra 3.5 per cent. So you have to pay cash but they will not take a check. If you are going to charge extra for credit you should take checks. Not everyone carry’s extra cash and I don’t use ATM’s. The alternative is not to spend money there. Just go in and pet the dogs! I’ll think twice next time! Too bad!

We LOVE shades!!I originally started shopping with them when they came to Franklin, TN (much needed btw) and HAD to come visit the Orange Beach location. I worked retail for many many years and am currently in the process of opening my own Southern Apparel store where we live, so with that being said I appreciate great customer service and last night that’s EXACTLY what we received.Shades has a vibe that is unmatched. You’re greeted when you walk through the door not only by the people working there but the AWESOME retrievers running around… this store’s staple is their sunglasses and their dogs, if you don’t like dogs go elsewhere because you’re prob unwanted anyways.I went in for a pair of Costas, the guy who’s name I wish I could remember (my fault, not his) helped me and my husband out while letting us know about the FREE DRINKS. Also.. this is NOT academy sports or bass pro, their pricing is probably gonna be a little higher because it’s a smaller business, that’s what happens when you support local. Help keep small towns small people.They were extremely nice when checking us out, personable and friendly without being fake. As we were walking out we ran into the owner of the brand Southern Call Club (another name I forgot.. again, my fault because he definitely told me) and told us about the band which we also ended up buying a hat from. Super cool guy.This is the south y’all. They have dogs, beer, country music and southern hospitality. I’d pay extra any day to make sure we keep them around. Thanks for the visit and I’ll be damn sure to come back to Orange Beach specifically to visit Shades.

One of the iconic shops in Orange Beach, the staff is friendly, they have a great selection ranging from clothes to sunglasses. They will even offer you a cocktail while shopping. If you're lucky, the Shades mascot (a yellow lab) will be in the store. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that some of their items are overpriced. Even with that, I still shop here because the quality is amazing. Carry Oakley, Costas, ray bans, and some other lesser known brands. They also carry kids and toddler sunglasses.

"BEWARE OF THE DOGS ROAMING THE SHOP". My family and I were not aware of the "dogs " that roamed the store when we entered. We were very surprised when we're realized there were as many as there were. My son is very fearful of dogs in general small or large. Even though they seemed very friendly and I'm sure very lovable, my family and I did not liked being licked or jumped up on. My son (6 years old) was terrified. I asked the associates to call them back and one lady made an attempt to call them back and the other informed me very snotty "We always have dogs in our store" and continued on as if nothing was wrong and my child was screaming in fear of the dog that had jumped up on him. Of course, we left immediately. We did not have a chance to look around the store. To each his own...but we took our business to another shop. Animals/pets have a mind of their own. They are subject to bite regardless how friendly. A huge liability the business owner takes with dogs walking up to strangers. After we left, I looked for a sign of some sort informing customers that they had dogs roaming freely in the store in the Windows of the shop and did not see one. If there was one it was too small to be noticed(lawsuit waiting to happen). We would have continued to shop if the main associate would have hurdles them back to their "spot" where ever that was and away from us. If you do not mind being surrounded by dogs while you shop then this is the place to go but, if not, then you may want to skip this shop in particular. I'm not bashing the shop for their choice to have dogs roam freely, but I'm sure they have lost money due to that fact. But some people's pets are more important that money and that is ok.. just let it be known before someone walks in blind to a broad of pets...

Very kind and selfless we got a flat tire by the store and the manager of shades was very helpful willing to get wet in the rain to help change our tire. Also gave my sibling and daughter free balloons during the wait. I will most definitely will be coming to spend some money at this store just for the kindness of this man.

Love this placd! Customer service was fantastic! Met the owner and his dogs. He creates a fun, comfortable atmosphere! My kids each picked out sunglasses and I bought an awesome hat!
