Adopting my puppy was a wonderful experience. Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable. My favorite person in the office by far is Ms. Laurie! She is absolutely amazing, sweet, and kind. Thank you all so much for making the process easy and beneficial!! Taz is already well loved and the apple of our eyes!

We made our first visit to the humane society today to meet a cat. The people were all very friendly and happy to help. We only visited the Cat Room and we were incredibly impressed with how clean this location is! There were no offensive “pet” odors here, and that’s better than even most veterinary offices! On top of the friendly people and the cleanliness, all of the cats were very sweet and were very happy! It was so hard to only adopt 1! We highly recommend making an appointment if you are interested in adding a pet to your family!

The humane shelter of Montgomery services are horrible. I have called several times. I went out to the facility. I sent an email as well. My mom is new amputee and the neighbors can’t control their cane corso. I have talked and text the neighbors nothing has been done. Police has been called. All over the course of two weeks No one has showed up and the dog has not been removed. He just running freely. I see why people take matters in there owns hands.

After my application for adoption was approved, speaking with someone regarding a specific kitten, and traveling over an hour for an appointment, we arrived to find the specific kitten was in the meet and greet room with another family. They spent 10-15 minutes trying to locate her! My daughter spoke with the manager and explained the circumstances, the manager went and retrieved the sweet baby that I thought I would be bringing to her forever home. I held her and instantly felt a connection and joy that I haven’t felt for some time. They then come to tell me that I couldn’t adopt her because they could not let her leave since she had not had surgery, was not old enough, and I did not live in Montgomery County. Since they have a “do not hold” rule in place, after she has the surgery, I could return to complete the process UNLESS someone adopted her that actually lived in Montgomery County before I come back. I WAS WILLING TO GO AHEAD AND PAY EVERYTHING PLUS EXTRA!I understand all of the rules, why they are in place, and was not asking for special treatment. I was clearly trying to explain from my point of view as well. They would not even listen. I am extremely disappointed that they saw my application, approved it (knowing that I had a specific kitten in mind), allowed me to drive in for an appointment, to tell me that they was not going to let me get her. My application clearly stated my address… they should have known all of the details and been more coordinated. There are so many details that I’m leaving out but I hope they know that they refused a loving lady that was going to give that baby a VERY GOOD HOME! I am truly disappointed in the negligence to detail that was so very important! I am so sorry Eloise! I really tried sweet baby!!!

Thank goodness for the Montgomery Humane Society! As soon as they posted this little girl, I called and they answered. The staff was so friendly, answered my questions, explained the process, let me make an appointment for the next morning (pending she was still available). Once we arrived, they let me walk her and take her into the cat room for a "cat test". Happy has been home for almost a month now! She is full of energy and a wagging tail! I am so very grateful to the kind person that saved her and to the Montgomery Humane Society for getting her ready for a new home! The first picture was taken at the Montgomery Humane Society. Needless to say, she is named appropriately!

Y'all new him as Koda. His name now is Harley Bean. He loves being outside and running and chewing on his ball. After a hard day at barking at the neighbors and a full belly he loves sleeping in bed with Mom and Dad. Thanks for our Harley just adding to the review. Harley has fit in to our family. We love him so much. The folks at the humane society are amazing. We love y'all so much for making our hearts whole again. After our baby girl went to heaven we never thought another could take her place. Thank you

We recently adopted a puppy from the shelter and it was a great experience. The building is well kept and smells very clean. The animals there seemed very well cared for and the staff is very dedicated. They loaned us a carrier for our puppy the day we adopted her since we forgot to bring our own. They took very good care of our puppy and we appreciate it!

We recently adopted our little man, Maverick, from the Montgomery Humane Society. The adoption application was thorough, yet the responsiveness was very prompt. We were made to feel welcome and were encouraged to spend time with the fur babies we wanted to consider for bringing home. We so wish we could have adopted them all, but that is simply not feasible. The friendly and knowledgeable staff made this a great experience and we have so enjoyed our little man every day since!! I highly recommend adopting your next fur child through the Montgomery Humane Society. The price is very reasonable and you are comforted by the notion of sharing love and your home with a dog or cat that needs it.

Dropping off strays is a huge PITA. NOT user friendly. Want you to go to their website and fill out pages of info. I just picked up 2 strays on my lunch break. The shelter was close by. I literally had very little time to help these dogs. I strongly suggest to Mgmt to have front desk person fill out the forms while asking the rescuer the questions. I literally had ZERO information about these dogs. The form is ask for every detail about them. Terribly inefficient for strays drop off. It would be totally different had they been a an animal you knew well. Also, I asked it they could call us first AFTER the 10 day waiting period to find their owners. I was told NO. They could NOT keep up with all the information and we would have to call or look on their website like everyone else does. Do you folks really want to find homes for these animals ? Then make the STRAY drop off EASIER. Then also make a process for folks that WANT to give these drop offs a NICE home. It is NOT that difficult. Really. Thank you.

They never answer their phone I’ve been leaving voicemails for a little over a month now. Ive even sent videos to their email. Now when a luxury housing deer creek call they run to get over there!

Someone adopted the dog I now have from the humane society. I love this dog. He's so sweet and friendly. I'm so happy that he came into my life. I quickly went and registered him under my information so there wouldn't be any confusion. The people there are nice and made the transition of paperwork simple and easy. My big guy Marlo

A Huge Thanks and Hug to Deputy Sellers, Deputy Guarino and the Chief Deputy Officer for coming to the aide of several abandoned and injured dogs and puppies. Deputy Sellers picked up a sweet, stray Rottweiler last July 2023. The Chief Deputy Officer just rescued 8 puppies whose mother was abandoned and living in the woods. And Deputy Guarino just saved a small puppy trapped under a fence in bad weather with heavy downpour. He's going to need some new shoes! The Chief Deputy officer stated that the injured grey dog I called about is still alive and they are trying rescue her. Prayers for the whole team and the dog. These guys are very knowledgeable, capable and professional. Hats Off!

I have had a great experience with the Montgomery Humane Society. I previously medical fostered a sweet dog that sadly didn't make but they were so good with her care and helping me foster her. Everyone I worked with there went above and beyond to help me get a new adorable puppy Lucy! They really care about the animals the have and do all they can to help them find forever homes. I've been extremely happy adopting through them and would suggest anyone who wants to adopt go take a look around.

Awesome place to grab a dog or cat. We went and volunteered there to walk to dogs. Good well tempered animals and professional staff. Clean facility that is maintained really well

The place is good for handling pets that needs adopting. This kitten was crying for about a day and she wander onto my property so I took him in and nourish him until I could get him to the shelter. The staff was friendly but I noticed that they were all young which is good but customer service was a bit off.

If you are looking for a new pet, Montgomery Humane Society is the first place you should look. My last 5 have come from MHS. These babies have provided me with years of love.

I adopted my precious fur baby on Monday. Her name was Maeve but her new name is now Molly. She is the bet dog I have ever owned. Super sweet and such a loving soul. Please adopt if you are thinking about a new family member. I could not be any happier with my decision.

I have been on the search for a little tortoiseshell cat/kitten for the longest. Well, I seen MHS had some and I put in an application and they called me back the following morning letting me know I was approved. When I got there, everyone there was so very welcoming. One employee, Tristan in particular, was so friendly and very knowledgeable. He was also accompanied by another woman who had blonde curly hair who was also wonderful. They were so patient with me while I was looking for the perfect cat. I held a few but I finally found one and we had an instant connection. I just had a wonderful experience here. The facility is super clean as well. Thank you MHS for the best cat!

This place is nice, but if you guys really want to achieve a higher adoption rate then you guys need to do away with appointments. The appointments were fine when COVID was at its peak, but it’s doing more harm than good now.Animal control is also lousy. They never answer the phone, or return your calls. You guys really need to step it up.Other than that the facility is nice.

I took a 7/8 week old kitten that I found in my yard. Its eyes matted shut and very fragile. They wouldn’t take it. I drove 40 mins to get it help and they refused it. I put it in the grass so it could use the bathroom before we got back in the car to find another place for it to go and a lady comes out yelling at me. WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? Then spoke to me very rudely. Very disrespectful. I know she thought I was going to leave it but I didn’t rescue it and take it to them to just leave it in the grass. Very disrespectful and rude. I have 3 rescued cats. They may can take care of animals but they really need to work on their people skills. They can count me out for donations or foster care. I will look elsewhere. I took the kitten to Elmore County Humane and they accepted it with open arms and treated me respectfully, like a person. If I could give this place a - star I would. Also, while I’m here. I didn’t plan on leaving a review for this but… I have gone to see some animals that they have up for adoption, and the character and temperament of the animals are not what they describe online. “Good around kids” but when we get there the animal will not let anyone touch them, not even the workers.

Some jerk put two male pit bulls out at least a couple of days ago. They have been hanging out in my driveway, in the driveway south of me, or in the shaded ditch between the two.I think that’s where the jerk dumped them, and they were waiting for him /her to come back.Tom from the Montgomery Humane Shelter just came to get them. He was wonderful. With just treats and kindness he was able to get them to come to him, to give them treats as he snapped a leash on each, and to pick each up to go into the van. They were not mean at all and must have been loved by someone.Tom from the Montgomery Humane Shelter, you are an outstanding kind young man! Thank you.

Went there late. They were actually getting ready to close. But when we saw Clarence and said how much we wanted him they stayed late to do paperwork and let us get him same day. Got the most wonderful dog. Thanks for all you do.

Had 2 beautiful super friendly and loving Persian cats to bring in for adoption so we called and made an appointment. We were called an hour before our appointment to reschedule because they were short-handed. Next appointment available- had to take off work 2 hours early to get them from home and grab their accessories. Got to the humane society 1 minute before appointment and they were closed, locked up, lights out! Sad. Someone would have adopted them immediately that would love to have their companionship.Hopefully they do not treat the animals there as badly as they do people.

I took two of my kittens there, and they took them with no problems, but my biggest concern was that I didn’t want my kittens to be put down, and they couldn’t assure me of that. I worried constantly about whether I made the right choice.

Extremely disappointed with the staff’s opposition about an appointment to look at the animals. My daughter wanted to look and pet the puppies and we also had dog food to donate. but the woman at the counter says we have to have an appointment now.. they’re loss I say. There’s absolutely no reason for to push away children wanting to see sheltered animals. Shame on them!
