Wonderful and blessed adoption and volunteer experience! From the time you enter, you are greeted by passionate animal lovers who absolutely adore what they do. They embody the spirit of Charity in the King James version sense of the word - as the highest calling God can give us.Customer service is top notch, so helpful. The director loves to introduce herself to new volunteers and persons looking to adopt. Everyone is so kind and courteous in everything they do.All of the animals are kept in immaculate conditions and fed the best food available. Positive energy radiates throughout the building and the grounds. The community loves Mobile SPCA and is proud to help support it.The feeling of Love is totally mutually - Mobile SPCA is thrilled to help people from the community adopt any animals they have, and make the entire process straightforward, affordable, and seamless from start to finish.Whether working in the office or on the grounds, the employees and volunteers take pride in what they do and put the animals before everything else. Money is never even a discussion here. The animals are treated exactly how they deserve, with love, compassion, empathy, and respect. We love you and are sending prayers your way - Thank you!

Joey Mabry’s previous review is very accurate. The exact same thing happened to us. It seems that there is so much more emphasis on transporting rather than adopting. We tried to adopt a puppy that was there, as well. They told us they were not allowed to tell us where the animal was being transported to or what facility. We were willing to go there (Pennsylvania) to adopt. They don’t return phone calls or emails either. Rude staff. They don’t support their mission statement… pathetic! Still waiting on a return call…

I went to adopt a dog. My Shih Tzu was 16 years old when I had to put her down. She was blind, only a few teeth. She couldn't control her back legs. I used 3 different vets in the 16 years I had her! They turned me down because they said they couldn't confirm enough info on my Misty.I spent a lot of money at her vets through the years! I guess they didn't like it because she had 3 vets! I didn't appreciate being told I couldn't adopt her! She was featured on Pet of the week on channel 5 noon news! She would have had love & care for the rest of her life. ☹️😢

In response to Sherry Mather’s earlier review…1. Sherry called a 3rd time to speak to the director and was told that there must be a misunderstanding because the director returned a call to Sherry Jenkins. My wife is Sherry Mather. She has no missed calls, messages, or a response to her emails as of this posting.2. As to the director’s assertion that she emailed her husband, that would be me… and she was not provided my email address. So, this is not true!3. The puppy we looked at was not the one referred to in the response, so the director must be referring to the other customer, Sherry Jenkins, that apparently has the same complaint as us.Additionally, it was never our intention to complain to the Pennsylvania shelter which received the puppy. As we have explained, we wanted the ability to go pick up the puppy at their location.

An oasis in the desert. The only place you can reach out to that makes sure a puppy will end up in a loving home. Thank God for the people that do this everyday.

We went to this nasty place to adopt a puppy we had been waiting about week on, after several days of phone calls they called to set up a meet and great to pick him up, upon arrival they us told he had been approved for transport to Michigan and we could not adopt him. They sent the poor dog to Michigan rather than give it a good home in Mobile. They give you the third degree to make sure you give it a nice home when their place is one of the nastiest places I have ever been in. You just don’t yank people around for a week and then treat them this way. I will never support the Mobile SPCA in anyway again and will tell everyone I know not to support them. Nasty place, Bad business.

Went to donate a few items and I thought the ladies in the office were very nice and friendly! Had no issues in making my donations. Also I got to say, I have to give a shout-out at the person who responds to the reviews (mainly the negative reviews). It's refreshing to see a business tell their side of the story and also it's a little entertaining to read!

Filled out application for pet they never contacted to let us know if they accepted our stuff. Workers were rude on the phone. Coming from someone who works at a vet I will not be recommending them for adoptions. Ended up going with wags and whiskers they were nice and responded within 24hours the name is under Kelsi Huggins in regards to Bosley

These are very hard working folks who do a great job with the animals under their care. I have borrowed cat traps from this SPCA on multiple occasions and they make this process quick and easy (and free with returnable deposit). I am really glad for this resource as these traps are very expensive. The people leaving a one star review for every dumb reason under the sun have no idea how rescue operates or how hard these people work. Their cats and dogs are well cared for and are excellent options if you are looking to adopt.

They aren't looking toplace dogs, they are looking for perfect people! They were extremely rude to my wife. Then sent a message asking for a donation. The place was very nasty. The pound in West Mobile is much cleaner and the people kinder.

Very unprefessional, and unkept. My mom went in to get a dog after our family dog of 14 years passed away and they had her wait while they called every vet around for records. We have moved multiple times in the last 6 years due to medical treatments, which means multiple vets NOT in the are. We also tried explaining that me and my husband helped take the dog to the vet because she doesn't drive and that his visits were under our name but that didn't matter. We didn't get to even see the dogs, and my mom is heart broken. We have 27 acers and a giant fenced in area, and we take our kids to the park right next to a dog park almost three times a week. She makes her dogs truly apart of the family and and is a great owner, just wanted to give a dog a good home. We wanted to adopt from a shelter but I am probably just going to buy a dog from a breeder now because I want her to have a new dog and this experience has been so frustrating that I don't want to go back to an SPCA again.

obscene commercials never show uplifting animal stories or mention spay neuter. They exploit animal suffering for money

I arrived and asked to see who they had available for adoption. I was told I could not even visit with the pups available until I fill out an adoption application. I asked again to be sure I heard her correctly. Once she confirmed, I said, “okay, thank you”. I was not offered an application, I was not directed where to go to fill one out online, I was simply disregarded as she made her way into, what I assume she felt, would be a more interesting conversation. I should have known considering my experience with them years ago when I was denied an adoption experience due to being a single working parent and not having “adequate time” by their standards. Judging by their combative and defensive response in recent poor reviews, I assume I should fully expect a keyboard full from them. Unfortunately, their responses accurately reflect the attitude I received that day when I visited…. I suggest going up the road to MCAS where your visit alone will be greatly appreciated and your experience is much more pleasant.

Me and my family brought our dog to them because they are a no kill shelter and we came back 30mins after we drop the dog off to find him in the middle of the road. Very unhappy with this business.

I called and left a message bc someone abandoned a kitten on the side of the highway. I contacted ASPCA for help. I was told they would email me info on how to get it onto the waiting list. The email never came so I looked to see what I could find. As far as I can tell, they want me to take it to the vet for shots and to be fixed. I can't afford that. This isn't even my kitten. I was only trying to help. Would they have rather I left it to freeze, starve or get ran over. I don't understand especially since they just got a rather large grant specifically for cats. I have to find this poor thing a home. I can't continue to care for it much longer.

The only thing I can say about this place is they are not open on the weekends which makes it difficult for people to adopt pets who are only available on the weekend. If they were to run some weekend hours every now and again this would be a better place.I would like to thank the owner of the SPCA for their prompt response. I was unaware that you were open on Saturday, when I call during the week I was told that you were never open on the weekends so I apologize for the mix-up. I am Overjoyed to hear that you are open on the weekends and would love to come by and a got a new friend. Would definitely like the opportunity to amend my review Once I have visited and gone through the adoption process

Customer service is awful. They do not make the adoption experience pleasant or uplifting. The main lady in charge was down right unpleasant to deal with. I would recommend going anywhere else to find your new best friend because the management makes the adoption process almost not worth the effort.

They were so helpful in finding me a new little girl. So that my Dixie would have a little sister to play with.

What a great group of people. Always looking out for others. Rescuing so many critters every day. Making sure the right person gets the best pet for them, their lifestyle and needs. Who says a service dog cannot be a critter who was once a stray.

The only thing that is important to this “ adoption “ center or group is how many handouts & $$ they can get. I’ve seen too many posts stating how dirty they’ve done people.Recently come across another one where a lady found a beautiful orange kitty by the interstate in poor condition. Took it to the vet & was fully prepared to have this cat vetted u til a microchip for the spca was located deeming that the cat was never adopted by another individual or else it should’ve been swapped over. Supposedly it’s “ protocol “ for them to take the cat back even though the lady wanted the baby. They proceeded to tell her that they will be taking the cat and if she wanted him she would have to pay a $100 fee and fill out adoption papers to only be denied due to the dumbest of reason. She was asked how she would exercise the cat and she stated she had three acres with plenty of room for this baby to be exercised. But that’s not good enough. Now the cat can’t be located. Could be at petsmart or could be dead but clearly there are MAJOR red flags & they need to be looked into immediately ! Don’t bother wasting your money donating to them. They probably line their pockets than actually tending to said animals.

I have been working closely with the Mobile SPCA for 10 years through the Veterinary Hospitals I have been employed with and they always go above & beyond for the pets that they can help. Working in animal rescue is like emptying a sinking ship with a leaky teaspoon. It's always stressful, and never ending - but these incredible people devote their lives to the animals they help day in & day out. I can't even count how many times they have taken in animals that have been neglected, starved, and abandoned over the years - and that's just in the cases I know about. Can they help every single animal?...NO. No one can, but they try their damndest. My advice if you're reaching out to them for help for an animal is to be kind, have some patience, and try to have a little understanding. They are human just like everyone else.

I've volunteered here twice so far and I'm in love with this shelter. The animals are all wonderful and the staff is friendly/helpful. I love the process they have to make sure the animals will go to safe and loving homes. They all care about the animals and will do anything to make sure they're safe. I've never met a better group of people working together nor better animals. I look forward to volunteering as much as I can.

The Mobile SPCA is awesome!! I couldn't fully afford for my sick cat and when I called them for assistance, they told me they would donate $30 directly to the vet of my choice! Simply amazing people!
