It was my turn to plan an overnight camping motorcycle trip and luckily, I found the 1776 Campground. After calling owner Bob to ask some questions about the campground, I knew this was a place we would probably enjoy, and we sure did. Very accommodating owner and staff. The lots were very well kept and the hillside for tent camping was very peaceful, with water and electricity if you need it. Each level tent pad had its own picnic table and several had grills. There was a big fire pit in the middle that was the heart of the evening. The Mentone area was also very interesting. A great weekend trip.

This is likely the best stay I've had at an RV park! I've liked it so much, that I ended up staying much longer that I anticipated! There are 14 spots with full hookups, and quite a few tent spots that are separated and very woodsy! It has the best views, hands down! The RV spots are very spread out and you cannot hear any noise from other campers. The people are very friendly, and everybody seems to be like family here! There are a couple of major towns within at least 10 mi from here, but the park is right outside of the iconic Mentone Alabama, which has some very artsy shops and some local food that is amazing! This should be a must stop on anyone's journey!

We had a little confusion checking in, they are currently in the process of remodeling and had too many people involved in the process but it was resolved. The campground is really only set up for self contained campers. There are are bath houses and they are clean but not really set up for too many car or tent campers. That said the areas they do have are beautiful and they went out of their way to help us to enjoy our stay

Bob was very helpful and the rest of the staff was very friendly. They gave me a discount because of some issues with remodeling. The campground was quiet. It is on a busy road but that did not bother us and we found everyone very friendly and helpful.Nearby activities: State park

This place is awesome! This was my first camping trip without my husband and son and I was nervous about staying alone with my daughter, but those fears vanished once we arrived. The owners Bob and Maria and daughter America are wonderful hosts. They were kind enough to let us check in early and even came to check on us once we set up. The campground is beautiful and impeccably clean. They have RVs you can stay in, bring your own, or tent camp. I have no idea how they stay hidden. They are extremely close to town and DeSoto State Park. We will definitely return. You must check them out!Nearby activities: DeSoto State Park and Little River are seven minutes away.Safety: I had absolutely no concerns.Food & drinks: There were little shops right down the street and they are 20 minutes from the main townNoteworthy details: Extremely clean and well maintained

Glad We happen to find this little gem. It was clean and quiet. It was close to all the attractions and the host was very kind and offered any assistance if needed. The camper was clean and had all we needed except I did forget my hairdryer would been nice to had one there lol. America you are a sweetheart and it was nice to see how hardworking you seem to be. I’m sure you have a bright future ahead of you.. Thanks again for the kindness shown to us. I highly recommend this little campground and the use of the big camper.

If you are looking for a smaller camp ground, nice and quiet for plenty of rest and relaxation this is the right place to come and stay a while, and it's VETERAN owned and operated so that makes it that much better, everything about this wonderful gem is top notch in my opinion, my wife and I came up here around the beginning of June and stayed here for the June Jam concert in Fort Payne, and also the day we were leaving we had the wonderful pleasure of talking with the very nice and respectful owner, of this wonderful camp ground. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed here during Memorial Day weekend. We had a great time. My son was staying at a different campground that couldn't handle our 37ft 5th wheel, but 1776 had no problem. Very quiet even with the busy road near by. We heard no noise at night. My wife and I are keeping a journal on the campgrounds we stay on our trips. One with must stay again and another side of never stay again. This one is a MUST stay again.

Very nice campground, we found it quiet, peaceful, and safe. We only stayed 1 night while passing through in a pull through site. The only note I’d mention is the picnic tables are in need of maintenance and some board replacements but wasn’t a big deal for us. The owner and on-site campground host were very friendly and helpful. Would love to stay again and think it would be a great place for a family camping gathering.

Very nice and friendly owners. We really enjoyed the peace and quite that this campground has. Any problems just talk to them and they will fix it right away. Also walked over to the backside where they offer tent camping and it has nice tent sites. The whole place is clean. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time while staying here. Very nice bathhouse and friendly host. Quiet and comfortable. We plan on staying again. We felt very welcomed and at home. Other campers were also very friendly. One of the most friendly camp ground hosts we have encountered and the Mentone area was amazing.

We loved our stay at 1776 RV and campground. The owner Bob, is so sweet and helpful and accommodated us at the last minute. We also appreciate his assistant Kenny, helping us get our truck started. He was very sweet and helpful as well. We ended up staying 4 nights and it was a perfect stay, a beautiful quiet park, and we will definitely be back! Thank you Bob and Kenny for all your help and for being such awesome patriots!!!

This is a great quiet location. We really enjoyed this spot! It’s in a great location near the center of Mentone. Clean & just a nice setting. Nice private fire pits to enjoy roasting marshmallows! Most of all we enjoyed Duke, the park cat. We have 5 dogs back home. We are honestly not cat people BUT this cat is the sweetest EVER! We bought him treats, toys and he even took over one of our dog beds.He spent the night with us and was waiting on us everyday when we’d return. He should be on the payroll for making our stay that much better!I am heartbroken saying goodbye to him.Thank you all for a great anniversary vacation! We will be back.Ps…we left Duke the bed he loved along with other goodies. ♥️

First of all, we stayed here before and had a very nice experience. This time, however, different ball game. Our family made reservations months ago to meet there for Thanksgiving. We drove 4 hours pulling our camper through rain, only to find out they were overbooked. They expected us to share our site with another family member, but argued the price. Bob was extremely rude and took no responsibility for the overbooking, much less make an apology. We were told we could stay or leave - he didn’t much care. So our family Thanksgiving there was ruined and we had to drive 4 hours straight back home. Because of Bob’s rudeness and lack of willingness to accommodate, I would NOT recommend this RV Park. This is an add-on. I just read the owners response. This response is absolutely NOT TRUE. #1. One brother did not reserve two sites. We each reserved our own sites and paid deposits. Neither brother reserved a “tent” site. #2. We NEVER received any sort of phone call. We didn’t discover the situation until we got there. Our sites were given to people who were up there to work and wanted to stay longer. If we had received a phone call, we would not have gone, and would have saved ourselves an entire day and the cost of gas to pull two campers up there. #3. We were willing to share a site;however, the owner wanted to charge us for two hookups. Also, we would have had to purchase adapters for the electricity, sewage and water. Another expense. It was the owner who was completely rude, and I notice he still does not accept responsibility for having given our sites away and causing us so much inconvenience.

1776 Campground in Mentone is a lovely stop for a few days, or an extended stay. Great folks, Joanie could not have been more accommodating for anything we needed. Clean bathhouse and restrooms, pretty grounds, small and quaint. No pool but a quiet spot with room to breath and relax. Felt safe and secure, pet friendly. Surrounding area is nice, close by for sightseeing trips.

Me, my fiance, and our little girl had a great time camping here! We felt welcomed by Joanie who floats around the campground. She is so nice and does everything she can to get you what you need. She does a very fantastic job in everything she does! The campground is small but it makes up with the friendly staff and other campers. It was the best camping experience I actually ever had! We will be back! 😊❤️

Spent the weekend here with family. Great place for RV and tent campers with full amenities, also each site has a fire pit and picnic table. Clean bath houses. Friendly campers as well. Close to Desoto falls which was a great walk with wonderful views. We'll be back to the area.

Small, peaceful campground. Owner was kind and personable, checked that we were going to be ok for the hard freeze we were expecting that night. We were greeted by a friendly campground cat that my 3 year old absolutely loved. We enjoyed the close proximity to Desoto state park.

My only complaint is there is no hook up for cable TV so make sure you bring along a DVD player. Other than that this is a nice peaceful place to stay. The staff is really nice and take care of any concerns you may have. I have not used the bath house because I have my own facilities so I can't comment on them. There is no swimming pool so if that's important to you then you might want to consider other options but if you don't mind not having a swimming pool then this is a great place to stay.

Very nice new owner since July 2019, and nice for Passport America clients. Park is quiet with great future potential.Seven miles west of Interstate 59 in remote town of Mentone. Presently the park does not have “on site” staff so online & phone registration is a bit confusing, and bathhouse and restroom is under renovation.I recommend this RV park if you are looking for tranquility and limited camp activities. Park is 45 minute drive from Ruby Falls.

The hostess at the campground Jonnie was absolutely amazing. The bathrooms are some of the cleanest I have seen and the grounds were well kept. The tent camping in the back was peaceful and the sounds of frogs coming from the pond was very relaxing experience. We will be going back

As other have said, this is a small, quiet campground. Our RV site was gravel and level with a picnic table. Internet (we were near the office) was fast and dependable. Enjoyed a 4th of July fireworks display by fellow campers. Joanie lives on site and does everything she can to make your stay pleasant.

Quiet little RV park and campground. Great hook-ups with plenty of room for my 37' 5th wheel. Each site has a big yard with a nice area for pets. All of the guests I've met gave been great. Mentone is just a few miles down the road, a decent small town grocery store is only 7 miles away. Owners are easy going. Perfect place for a getaway!

Great place for our annual caving trip to TAG (TN, AL, GA). There's camping in the back separate from the Campers. We far enough from them not to by bothered by generator noise, and they're far enough from us not to be bothered by tent campers. Small bathhouse on site was a great convenience. I recommend for any cavers/caving groups.

Wow! This park is a great find in the heart of Mentone. Stayed there for a weekend it we enjoyed it. Owners are friendly and will help you out if you need anything. They have BBQ pits and fireplaces at most of the campsites and they sell firewood "mix" (not just the big pieces but tinder to get it started). There's a small pond and a walking area in the back. They are pet friendly. They also have the fastest WIFI we've seen at any park in the area.We highly recommend this park and think it's the best "find" in the area.

This place is definitely a hidden gem! The property is well maintained, quite, and beautifully located in the Alabama mountains. It is located very close to the DeSoto State Forest which is simply beautiful. I can't recommend this location enough and cannot wait to make a trip back.

Very clean campground and bath house. Nice large pet area as well. Creek is super cute as well. Overall nice experience on both visits. No camp store though, so make sure you have all your supplies upon arrival. You can get smore supplies at desoto state park store though, so that was cool.
