We had 2 new puppies of completely different breeds, and Dale gave us step by step training methods to ensure success with obedience and leash training. He provides excellent resources to refer to throughout the training process when he is not with you. He is very hands on during the home sessions and shows you exactly what to do with your puppy. He’s great with the puppies and knows what works with each breed. He is exactly who you need to help your puppy be well behaved and obedient!

I started looking for a dog trainer when we got our 8 week old golden retriever last year, Maple. I found Dale/Top Gun Dog Training after searching on the internet. I highly recommend Dale for dog training and from our experiences! When I initially reached out, Dale was very responsive and got right back to me. No waiting game which I really appreciated. Dale was always on time/punctual to all of our sessions and was flexible and understanding if I needed to change session times. He always custom tailored sessions to work on what Maple needed to improve on the most. Within the first couple of sessions, he had already trained Maple to learn the sit and down command as a 10 week old puppy. Dale has also been very communicative and responsive to have questions I’ve had in between sessions which I greatly appreciate. He provides you with a lot of online resources/videos/book that have been very helpful in training Maple. Maple has come such a long way and learned so much from our training sessions with Dale. You can tell Dale genuinely loves dogs and they love him! Would highly recommend Dale and Top Gun Dog Training.

I recommend Top Gun to anyone searching for dog training. We needed help with his reactivity and loose leash walking. I used another trainer in the past it didn't do the trick. Top Gun was fantastic. Training was totally customized. During our consultation, we spoke about different places and scenarios where the behavior was most problematic. We then met at different locations around town to train in those exactly scenarios. I learned a lot and I know this information will be invaluable in continuing our training and for my future pup. You won't find a better training and I'm incredibly grateful for the help.

Our Bernedoodle Major needed help with general manners and building confidence out in public. This personalized training helped us learn how to properly work on these things and Major did great. He now goes to his place when we need him to and stay until released. He is able to walk on a loose leash and his recall is greatly improved. He can even wait at an open door until released before bolting out now. We are able to go to public places and feel confident we can manage his behavior and keep him comfortable. Dale understands the dog psychology and I’m very glad we did the training

Dale was AMAZING!! I could tell from our first conversation that he really loves dogs, Chloe was just over 2 months old when we started training, in the first training he got her to sit and go to the down position. He left me with several tips to get her used to her crate and potty trained and they were extremely helpful! I recommend him to my doggy day care and I would recommend him for anyone that needs not only training for your pet, but in a loving positive environment! Top Dog training is TOP NOTCH!!

We recently got an Australian Cattle Dog back in December 2023 at 10 weeks old. She was high energy as most puppies are but this breed never tires out! My husband was in search for a good trainer to come to our house to help navigate her hyperactivity and give her proper obedience skills. We not only got a good trainer, but a GREAT trainer! I can’t say enough about Dale and his training experience along with his unwavering techniques. His podcast and books are excellent examples of how knowledgeable he is. I was ready to re-home our puppy due to nipping at my 6 year old daughter but I can honestly say by the end of our 12 weeks with Dale, our puppy Molly, turned the corner and became so much calmer. My daughter can actually pet her without her jumping and nipping. Molly is a smart breed in general but with Dale she quickly listened to him and learned her basic obedience skills early on. We highly recommended Top Gun Dog Training, we are extremely happy with our puppy’s progress!

We had an amazing experience with Dale and Top Gun Dog Training! We started our pup at 8 weeks old and he just finished his AKC Canine Good Citizen training. Dale has extensive knowledge and years of experience. He worked with our pup and the whole family (3 kids). My husband and I found Dale when we got our 10 week old golden retriever, Ellie. We would highly recommend Dale based off of our experiences! He was always so punctual, patient, and tailored the training to Ellie herself and how she was progressing. He also worked so well with our schedule since we both work in healthcare. Within just a few weeks Ellie was able to learn sit, down, stay, leave it and drop it just to name a few. We reached out to Dale at Top Gun to provide us with individualized training for our dachshund Mason and chihuahua Milo. Dale spent time with us to create training plans for our pups. We met weekly to practice exercises that we would continue with the boys during the week until the next lesson. We decided to reach out to Dale for help with training our pack. We had a 3 year old rescue dog that had a very traumatic life prior to us adopting him.....then add on 2 puppies that were dumped at a truck stop off of the interstate. We worked with Dale on training all 3....Dale was able to identify quickly that one was getting board with training so he introduced basic agility....and the dog was completely reignited to continue training. We were struggling with training our 8 week old energetic Blue Heeler puppy. Dale was always patient and encouraging and often in 5 minutes had her doing things we spent time working on with little success. She is now a 5 month old well behaved Heeler, but still learning with the training from Dale. If your puppy or dogs training is not going the way you hoped we can’t recommended Dale enough.

Dale is a great trainer! He is patient and consistent and was very helpful in training our black lab puppy, Cash. He made it convenient by working with our schedule and coming to our home and he had some great ideas on how to get Cash to slow down when eating and redirect his attention when he would get distracted or jump. We had a great experience with Dale and Top Gun Dog Training. We needed some help with our 11 month old rat terrier. Mylo had some issues with recall and leash walking. With Dale’s positive reinforcement training techniques we were able to see a difference in Mylo’s behavior after the first week. He has improved in all areas and we couldn’t be happier. Dave is a lifesaver. I had a 11 month old goldendoodle who was giving me a run for my money until dave gave me the tools and tips necessary. During Teddy’s training , Dave showed me how to properly socialize teddy, minimize his jumping, set boundaries and make things easier for the both of us. Dale was great. We have two 3 year old dogs that knew no real commands. They needed obedience training and ways to help their anxious behavior. Dale was able to work with them together but got their different personalities and what works for each of them. Both dogs can now do commands like sit, down, wait and stay. The biggest thing is they aren’t out of control when someone rings the doorbell or comes in the house. This was a big deal for us! He gave us the tools needed to continue to improve even after the training was over. I would definitely recommend Top Gun Dog Training.

When we called Dale, my husband and I were at our Witt’s end with our 3 month old German Shepherd’s biting and nipping. With Dale’s assistance, our Bella was 90% better within a week. We learned so much from him not only about training Bella but also about the psychology behind his principles. I believe that working one on one with a trainer is essential because he’s really teaching you the owner more so than the dog. He was always very punctual and professional and his written materials and training videos was a great supplement to his teaching. I highly recommend Tog Gun Dog Training!!

After receiving 2 Golden Doodle puppies at the age of 9 & 10 weeks, I thought I had lost my mind. The dogs were unruly, extremely high energy, and ignored everything we tried. I am SO glad we were lucky enough to be selected by Top Gun for the training. Dale trained both dogs and us. He is nearest the Dog Whisperer as one can be. He tailored the training to the Doodles (which is unlike other pups). He is always punctual, straight forward, and ensured the lessons were understood. When one method didn't work with these two, he had a back up in his "magic bag". He is the kindest, most professional dog trainer I have ever met. He certainly speaks dog and I would highly recommend him for any dog training. We now have a house we loving Doodles and look to us for commands. Thank you Dale!

Training a puppy in an apartment can be a nightmare between potty training and dealing with other dogs. Dale helped us with our rescue GSD mix, from nipping to leash training and beyond. We can now take our pup out and about with no worries. Training in our apartment made all the difference, he noticed behaviors that we never would have. I highly recommend Dale and Top Gun Dog training. We had a wonderful and very helpful experience with him these last 8 weeks. We got a 10 week old moyen poodle and after reading his reviews and speaking with him on the phone, I knew right away he was the right guy. I called him 2 days after we got Remi and he was at my house the next week. As a first time pet owner, I was overwhelmed and feeling lost and after our very first session Dale’s expertise and calming demeanor left me feeling confident, excited and motivated. Due to unforeseen medical issues, I was unable to pursue typical group dog training classes for my beagle puppy (pictured). After doing some research, I decided to contact Dale at Top Gun Dog Training to set up in-home training. We had initial consultations on what areas to work on, timeline, cost, and so on, before starting the training. Among the things we worked on were controlling jumping behavior, basic commands, and manners on leash and in public.Dale clearly knows a lot about dog behavior and the unique needs and differences between breeds. His focus is on positive reinforcement — no yelling or scolding — and he teaches you to understand and work with your dog as much as he teaches your puppy manners. My puppy was happy to see him with every session, and by the end of training, she was behaving excellently! She used to jump on everyone she met, but now she sits politely to greet people! I had a great experience working with Dale and highly recommend Top Gun Dog Training to anyone looking to teach their dogs some basic training within their own home.
